Broadband provider opinion
Hi All I'm thinking of switching from Swiftel 128/64 to Up'N'Away's 512/128 ADSL Broadband service. Absolutely nothing wrong with Swiftel, but Up'N'Away's price for 512/128 ADSL seems hard to beat at about $49 per month. Any opinions or experiences with Up'N'Away? Lloyd, Check to see if you have the autocorrect feature ticked. You'll find it under Tools in the menu bar. Re: MS Word problems
Solution. Thanks Richard. It appears that I somehow took on the Normal template from one of my client's documents. By trashing the old one and creating a new Normal both problems have disappeared. It has also disappeared when I use Entourage which was linked to Word. Lloyd Suddenly I am having problems when I type in both MS Word (in MS Office X) and Entourage. As I type an alternative word comes up beneath the work I am typing. It seems to be giving me alternatives as I type. This has just started and to save my sanity I want to stop it. Also when I copy from one document with Arial 12pt to a document in Arial 12pt the copied selection copies as Geneva 10pt. That never happened before. Clip I do wonder if you accidentally overwrote your existing Normal template with someone else's, leading to the problems you see. If you have an older document, with settings that you like, you should be able to save it as a 'new' Normal template - just delete all the text in it, prior to saving it as your new template with whatever name you give it. Bill 7200 built from 1995 to late 96 7220 was introduced early 97 ( if there was a 200Mhz Mac built in 95 I would have hocked my family in to slavery to buy one - as it was I had to wait till 97 to do that when the 7300/200 released at the same time as the 7220) that said and all pedantry aside If I recall they use the same RAM form 172 pin 3.3 volt DIMMS but that the 7220 needed faster memory - going by the tech site 60ns v's 70 ns. If the chips in the 7200 are original apple stock they probably will be the older slower speed of 70 ns otherwise try it and see if it is stable Note that I think 7220 could only go to about 160Mb RAM even with larger memory and I think this is not an Aplle figure based on available chips at the time but an actual hardware limitation (though my recollection is vague as I have only ever came across one or two 7220) -- ~ Mark Secker Computer Support Officer ph#6488 1855 (ECEL) mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] University of Western Australia - CRICOS Provider No. 00126G ~ Only he who attempts the absurd is capable of achieving the impossible. - Miguel de Unamuno It takes an idiot to do cool things that's why it's cool - Haruhara Haruka (FLCL) http://ecel-mark.ecel.uwa.edu.au/~marksecker/index.htm (sometimes works)
Re: 7200 RAM QUESTION - NO!!!
From: bill parker [EMAIL PROTECTED] I have been doing a throw out of old computers and salvaged bits from some old 7200 machines. Thus I have the RAM from a 7200/90. Will this be compatible with the 7220/200? Both machines built in 1995. Be careful! I've fried some DIMMs in the past getting caught with this scenario. The RAM the 7200//90 uses are 5v 168 pin FPM DIMMS (70ns) while the 7220/200 uses 168 pin 3.3 Volt EDO DIMMs (60ns). So basically they are pin compatible but not voltage compatible - Very bad design if you ask me. Make sure you DON'T put the EDO RAM from the 7220 in the 7200 as this could fry the motherboard. I don't know whether putting the FPM DIMMS from the 7200 into the 7220 would damage the logic board or the DIMM, but mixing 5v and 3v DIMMs doesn't sound like a good idea to me! Keith or someone should be able to give more details and make sure my info is correct. Ciao! -Mart

No, that's a dynamic IP for that price. TPG's static IP option (business) is a lot more ($149 per month). Have you tried DynDNS to enable your server to work on a dynamic IP? The service is free for up to 5 servers and automatically updates the IP addresses of your hostnames whenever your dynamic IP changes. Tv on PB G3 pismo
Is it possible to watch TV on PB G3 Pismo? If so how? John
Re: Tv on PB G3 pismo
Is it possible to watch TV on PB G3 Pismo? If so how? John That's really two questions: * Is it possible to get TV input into a PB G3 Pismo? Yes. The USB EyeTV is a solution for standard TV. If you need HD TV then you'd need the FireWire version (although technically that requires a G4 minimum), and most reviews seem to indicate that a G5 is necessary for HD TV playback. You can also watch live TV from the USB EyeTV on a Pismo. (You could also pass TV from a source with a tuner (such as a video recorder) in via a firewire video camera or other firewire converter, but this is much more involved). Note that EyeTV TV Guide solutions aren't the greatest in Australia (although this is gradually improving...) A review of the EyeTV 500 is at http://www.eff.org/broadcastflag/eyetv500.php Note that the better the resolution you want, the more disk space it takes. The EyeTV USB takes up abour 600Mb/hour. DV camera video is 12Gb/hour. HDTV video from the EyeTV 500 is about 6Gb/hour. If you want to purchase a HD TV recording solution you should do so before the US FCC mandated 'broadcast flag' comes into force, after which TV stations can determine whether or not you're allowed to record particular programs. Both EyeTV solutions are detailed at http://www.elgato.com/ or ask WAMUG regular Daniel Kerr at [EMAIL PROTECTED] * If the TV is pre-recorded (say, by an EyeTV or downloaded from one of the various sources on the net) you may be able to play it with QuickTime Player, or the free VLC, available from http://www.videolan.org/ If you just want to watch TV on a spare monitor you have lying around, you could try the AverMedia TV box http://www.scorptec.com.au/index.php?catid=0035order=manufactureroffset=30 Have fun, Shay -- === Shay Telfer Perth, Western Australia Technomancer Join Team Sungroper in the Opinions for hire [POQ] 2005 World Solar Challenge http://public.xdi.org/=Shayfnord http://sungroper.asn.au/
