Colour Printing

2009-07-19 Thread Laurie Twigg
Hi Fellow Macites

I was hoping someone out there could offer some advice in getting an Epson
Multifunction RX350 colour printer to better match my Mac when printing
photos. I am am using an Intel Mac Pro with OS 10.4.11

At present the printed colours do not come close to those on the monitor
when printing photos from Œphoto packages¹. Colours are pretty good when
using graphic converter and word etc.
I have tried to get it all better set up using ColourSycn and Colour manager
but to no avail. I have also contacted Epson via email to be told I should
use Epson ink and Epson paper (which I was already doing). The colours
weren¹t that bad for the first 6 months and I am wandering if I have
accidentally changed the cloursync or something by accident.

Any ideas or points to web pages etc would be most welcome as it is getting
a bit frustrating.

Many thanks

Laurie Twigg

iPhoto won't recognise Nikon

2009-07-19 Thread Wendy S. Austin

Greetings All

I am running iPhoto 9, 8.0.4 (409) and until today, it is set up to
download photos from my Nikon D70.Now when I connect the camera
using a cord to the USB slot on my MacBook Pro, iPhoto acknowledges
that a camera has been connected and opens up but that is as far as it
will go, it will not show the Nikon on the left hand panel or show the
photos. I have now used three different cables in case that was the
problem but it still won't work. Any suggestions?

Hi Wendy,

Have you changed anything or updated since it was working correctly?
Are you importing RAW images from the Nikon D70?

Have you tried, deleting the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD /
Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
Quit iPhoto if it is running, then delete the plist file, then try
connecting the Nikon.

NB: You'll need to reset your User options afterwards.

Hi Reg,

I apologise if I'm not understanding your question here.
What is wrong with: In Safari, Click of the Bookmark Folder that you
want to email and drag it to your desktop.

Then attach it in an email.

Re: Colour Printing

2009-07-19 Thread Daniel Kerr

Hi Laurie

You'll have a hard time matching a lot of it unfortunately with only a 4
colour inkjet printer. The reason being is that what you see on screen then
has to downgrade to print. To get a better match you'd be better suited to a
6 colour printer, as you then have Light Cyan and Light Magenta, and it
makes a huge difference!
Something like the R610 (RRP $199), which has the 6 individual tanks. (Cyan,
Magenta, Yellow, Black, Light Cyan, Light Magenta).
http://www.epson.com.au/products/multifunctional/
Otherwise, yes, you'll going to have some fun trying to get it to match.

Also this may help, from a client of mine,...
http://shaggydogproductions.com.au/Pay_it_forward/Entries/2009/4/29_Calibra
ting_your_display.html

Hope that helps somewhere along the way.

Kind Regards

Re: Export a Bookmarks Folder from Camino or Safari

Thanks for this Ronni

I just tried it. I can't drag it out of Camino but can in Safari and
Firefox (I was able to copy the entire Camino bookmarks folder over to
both and then drag the 'Travel' folder in question to the desktop from
Safari and Firefox).

When I emailed it (to Elaine's iMac in the next room) I could not then
import it, or drag and drop to the web browsers.

Perhaps I just copy all the web links from the folder to an email and
send them wholesale. That might be easier.

Re: Export a Bookmarks Folder from Camino or Safari

2009-07-19 Thread Reg Whitely

Hi ronni

I just dragged every weblink out of the folder, one by one, into an
email, and sent it to Elaine. They all open so I guess I've solved the
challenge, albeit very clumsily. When in Safari on her iMac, we can
then drag each link into a dedicated folder. I think there must be an
easier way to do this though, but we're happy with the result for now.

Re: Your network settings have been changed .......

2009-07-19 Thread Michael Hawkins

John,

I frequently have the same problem running Tiger 10.4.11 when trying to
connect using 3mobile.

I have wondered whether it is because my G3 PowerBook 400 is 9 years old and
still on its first set of batteries - I have to reset date and time
every-time I start the computer.

Sometimes the message goes away if I restart, and sometimes it does not
appear if I connect to the internet by using system preferences (network
connect) rather than the menu bar, but there was one time in which I had to
restart by using another username and re-setting preferences under that name
and then restarting in my preferred user name.

I know this hasn't helped much but at least now you know you're not an
orphan!

Regards,

Michael Hawkins.

Hello John,

An easy fix (if it works), worth trying first, is:

Open System Preferences . Security
Check Require password to unlock each secure system preference. If
this doesn't solve the problem or the problem returns.

Try this:
Make sure you write down all your Network Settings as you may have to
re-configure your Network after deleting these files below.

In the Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ folder delete the
following:

com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
NetworkInterfaces.plist
preferences.plist
com.apple.nat.plist

All these files will regenerate as necessary when the associated
system features are accessed.
If you're using Airport or Internet Sharing you'll have to re-
establish the appropriate settings, because these will have been lost
when the preferences files are removed.

This should permanently correct the problem.

Cheers,
Ronni
