Matias keyborad
Does anyone have experience with Matias keyboards? I have just purchased one and it works - most of the time. The instructions say both leads must be plugged in. Which lead is which the booklet does not say and often I need one USB port for a modem. There are times when I have mouse operational only. Macbook pro/10.5.8. Re: Matias keyborad
Only one lead to a USB2 socket is necessary for my Matias to work. I have no idea which 'second lead' you're referring to. Where in the instructions is this? I have camera and trackball leads plugged into the Matias. Both work nicely, and I still have a spare port on the keyboard. Not all the function keys work on the Matias as they do on the Apple keyboard. I use Keyboard Maestro to re-assign the function keys to suit my work. Re: Matias keyborad
Hi Bill, Not familiar with this particular device but some USB devices without powerpacks (eg some portable external drives) use two leads to increase the power available to the device. From what Vlad says, the Matias obviously has a number of USB outlet ports - perhaps they use two inputs to cater for more devices plugged into the keyboard. (Whether this is actually effective or not probably depends on which usb ports on the computer you plug the leads into). Of course, not being familiar with the actual device - this is all conjecture on my part ;o) Cheers Neil -- Neil R. Re: Matias keyborad
To further clarify: The Matias website http://www.matias.ca/tactilepro/ shows the model with the two USB ports. However, in the upper right quadrant of that page, there is a link that states The Tactile Pro has been replaced by the newTactile Pro 3. This takes you to the page showing the three-port unit. My unit is stamped FK302. IMO it leaves the latest Apple keyboard for dead. Vlad On 16/09/2010, at 9:31 PM, Bill Parker wrote: Maybe not. This is non-folding model, PK104. Hi Ronni, The database is as current as I can make it at this time, more information is still to come in but that may take a while. On the question of fees, I am not the Treasurer but believe that the WAMUG Committee has decided to bring the fee year in line with the calendar year, 1 Jan to 31 Dec. If this is incorrect, I should imagine one of the good committee members will put me straight. My understanding is that any members who are paid up for part of this year will not have to pay again until after December 31. Mr Treasurer, please confirm, or otherwise, this statement. I should imagine that when this is sorted, the Committee will issue membership cards but this may not be until the new year. Re: *** IMPORTANT NOTICE ***
Hi Like Ronda, I've just paid my fees too! Not to worry the actual fees are a pittance in comparison to other memberships and should probably be increased. On the subject of membership cards, I have just been through this with another organisation and our decision was NOT to issue membership cards. The time and trouble of doing the cards on an annual basis was onerous and given the postage cost these days, expensive. The alternatives are a once off card to be used in conjunction with a membership receipt or an online issued certificate. Then again, when was the last time one needed to use a membership card? My understanding is that any members who are paid up for part of this year will not have to pay again until after December 31. Mr Treasurer, please confirm, or otherwise, this statement. I should imagine that when this is sorted, the Committee will issue membership cards but this may not be until the new year. Would you please let me know when my Membership fee is due to be paid. I doubt if I can find my last card but you can send a scanned copy of your off list if you wish. Regards, John On 31/05/2010, at 4:25 PM, Ronda Brown wrote: Hello John, That sounds excellent. I've always loved my original WAMUG Member Card 'Got a Mac?' (wish I could send a scan). It still resides in my wallet ;-) Member # 1054 … I hope I can keep my 1054 number … it's sentimental to me ;-) Much appreciate you making this offer of setting up and administering the database. This database would hold all the required information for the members including a membership number and any other pertinent info members would like to offer. Any information given would be kept in the strictest of confidence. This can be discussed tomorrow evening during the intro session. Regards John E.
