How to get video off an iPad?

2012-03-13 Thread Andrew McColl
Hi Everyone

I was just wondering how people are getting video files off iPads? My
Google research so far has revealed Apps called Goodreader and iPad
Transfer. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Anything that
works better for them?

Re: MacBook battery replacement

2012-01-04 Thread Andrew McColl
I haven't. The Batteries from China are cheap for a reason.

I purchased one a while back and almost immediately regretted it.
When that battery was installed the machine would shut down
unexpectedly with anywhere between 10 and 20% battery charge left.
And shut down hard. No warning just turn off with that awful sound of
the HDD trying to dock itself with the remaining battery power.

I wouldn't recommend the Chinese MacBook batteries. With batteries
you get what you pay for.

Hi Steven

One of the cool things you can do with Terminal is drop files into the

If you're able to mount your Time Capsule volume using the GUI you

Hope this helps.

Re: Merging Users

2010-09-02 Thread Andrew McColl

Hi Warwick

Probably your easiest way is to choose one account and declare that
your primary account. Then login to the other two accounts, connect
an external hard drive and copy off to it any files that you feel you
need.

Once you've backed up your files log back in to your primary account
and copy the files into that user directory.

Then get rid of the other two user accounts. So they don't take up
additional space on your Hard Drive.

The act of copying files to an external HDD should ensure that any
user permissions attached to the files of the other two accounts
should be lost. If however you notice that some of the files you've
recently copied into your primary account aren't behaving correctly or
have disappeared you may need to go to Macintosh HD Users Primary
Account (Whatever yours is called) and do a File menu Get Info.
Right at the bottom of the Get Info window is a padlock and a Cog icon
click on the padlock and enter your username and password then using
the Cog select the option to Apply to Enclosed items. Which should
ensure that everything inside your primary user directory belongs to
you.

Good luck

Andrew

well as several 'back-ups' on external drives). Is there any simple
way of merging the three 'users' without overwriting the 'home' user
and losing data such as email, addresses, bookmarks, history etc?

Previously it was simply a matter of moving earlier data into a
current folder. Then it was FileBuddy location and culling of
duplicates. Now the sheer volume of system duplication make this
time prohibitive, so neither of these options seem viable any longer.

Yep.

If you're seeing Kernal Panics when you try and boot off DVD and after
you've reinstalled the Operating System then its fairly likely that
its Hardware. Might be faulty RAM or possibly a failing Logic Board.
If its still under warranty fire it in to an Authorised Apple Hardware

If you want to play with this more yourself you could try reseating
the RAM or removing one stick and seeing if the problem goes away. If
it doesn't replace and try removing the other.

Good luck.

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone can help me.

I have sent jobs to the printer as normal, and nothing is happening.
The jobs are getting stored, but not printing,
and it is showing status as stopped.
I've been using this same printer for a couple of years and have never seen
this status.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated, as I have a heap of stuff to print
today and this is not a good start...

Regards,
Rosalyn
