parts...
and another thing is do not leave them plugged in all the time, in that 
way you can extend the life greatly  James

This idea worries me a bit. Do you mean that the life of the power 
adaptor will be reduced if I leave it constantly plugged in to the 
power point with the power switched on and in to the Powerbook [thereby 
constantly charge/tricklecharge the Powerbook]?

It may be impossible to get second-hand ones, but Apple still sells ones new
that are appropriate for G4 laptops, or you could try PBFixIt, which stocks
just about every component for Apple laptops that you can think of

You can also get various sorts of adapters (car, plane, etc.) from DevDepot

although you may need to buy a cloverleaf plug from Jaycar in order 
to use them with an Australian 240V plug.
