Re: Software to edit PDF files

2018-05-08 Thread Philippe Chaperon
Hi Peter,

Indeed, I have been trying to use Word for Mac with no success and Preview,
although at first promising, could not do what I need.

My only course of action is one of the dedicated software like PDF Pen or
PDFelement, the latter of which I have downloaded and will be experimenting
with it to see whether it will do what I need - mostly edit a graphic and blot
and amend some text etc.

I have tried the conversion of the PDF into Word, but find the editing very
tricky. But must admit I do not have any practical experience in this matter!

Many thanks Peter.

Best Regards,

Philippe C.

Of course, I heartily endorse PDFPen, along with many other products from its

You can also convert the PDF to a Word format using current versions of PDF

2018-05-07 Thread Philippe Chaperon
Hi Ronni,

Your email came in time as I was finding it difficult or near impossible to do
what I wanted using Preview. I have just downloaded the trial version to see
how I go and at the price of $59.95 (US?) it is much cheaper than I expected.

If it works I will purchase it and hope to have some use for it in the future.

Many thanks Ronni and all the many who have given me suggestions, much
appreciated. I was starting to panic … fortunately WAMUG experts came to the
rescue as usual.

Good night all and Best Regards,

Hi John,

Thanks for the suggestion John, indeed reading on it I is a powerful
application which will do what I need and much, much more, and this is
reflected by its price. Unfortunately it would not be worth me spending the
$190.00 for a one-off use, and sadly its PDFpen 10 it also quite expensive at
$119.99. I have no doubt that for the serious user they are worth the expense

trick. Another venue would be to hire Adobe’s PDF-editing application for one
month, do the job and leave it at that!

Thanks John & Best Regards,

Re: Software to edit PDF files

2018-05-06 Thread Graeme Winters
Yes Brian and Philippe,
Peter H has over the years shown us many useful hints and he and others in the
group are continuing to do so.
In recent meetings at Willetton we heard about
invaluable tips on scanning,
on the use of a wireless Connect drive to gain access while interstate
to documents on your home system
and last month a great demonstration on how to gain more use from using
Notes.

The agenda circulated really does not do justice to the valuable information
provided each and every month through attendance.

As I said at the last meeting I have rarely gone home after a meeting without
gaining something of value.

You are right, you are missing out on a lot of goodies!!

Great help Brian, many thanks again.

P.S. Indeed Peter H. has shown us many useful tricks throughout the years,
which I did notice when I used to attend the WAMUG meetings in the past. At one
of the meeting years and years ago Peter gave us a demo of Graphic Converter
and so convinced and ‘converted’ was I that I have purchased it and been using
it ever since. Have kept it updated to its latest version being V10.6 due to it
being so stable and so very easy to use!

Must make the effort and attend the monthly meetings again as I am missing out
on a lot of goodies.

Take care Brian,

Philippe

some graphics and then new file can be ‘printed to PDF’ or my choosing the
‘Print’ command then choose the save as .pdf. I will fall back on the Word
option if Review is not doing what I need.

Many thanks again.

Philippe C

Good morning dear WAMUG’ers,

Can someone please recommend a ‘cheapish’ applications to allow me to edit a
PDF file? As I need to edit pdf files very rarely I am trying not to have to go
with Adobe which I suspect have all their applications on a subscription basis
and would be fairly expensive.

Ease of use and reliability is important in view of the urgency.

Many thanks for any suggestions you may have.

Re: Software to edit PDF files

2018-05-06 Thread Brian Risbey
sent before finished.

Peter H showed us how to do a ‘Save As', the whole room gasped O!

Go to File menu, and press Option and 'Save As' appears! Magic!

2018-05-06 Thread Brian Risbey

Thank you Philippe

Yes, Word can work!

Just be aware that sometimes a pdf is just an image/ photo and can’t be copied
and pasted use the text select tool from the menu… and,
Peter h showed us how to use
