Thank you Ronni,

I had thought that VirusBarrier was updating automatically.
I was not aware that this was only the Malware Definitions.

I will switch Intego back on and let you know how things when I boot up 
tomorrow.

I have used Intego again for about 18 months because I understand it is the 
only one specifically for the Mac.
I have tried others including Kaspersky and found they slowed my Mac 
considerably.
But this has never been evident with Intego.

I also believe that the FREE Malware Checkers do just that.
They check for Malware but do nothing about them other than tell you they are 
there.

Have you Updated your Intego VirusBarrier to latest version compatible with 
Sierra?
You can launch NetUpdate either from the Intego menu in your menubar or from 
the System Preferences application. There you'll find the necessary updates for 
all your Intego software.

Hi folks,

My iMac is a December 2012 model 21.5 inch with i7 processor.
I am using the latest macOS Sierra.

During the past 2 weeks it has frozen about 80 percent through the startup bar.
I have had to hold the power button till it shuts down.
Then restart …. each time with success.

Any ideas why this may be happening and how to fix it please ?
