The Dillards Performance Schedule

2006-10-22 Thread Jim Hady
Blueridgebiker asked about sites for The Dillards schedule. You can
go to http://www.the-dillards.com for information, though it doesn't
say anything about the Mullet Festival.

I turned on a movie last night (Saturday) that was about 45 minutes
or so into the movie. Don't recall the name of it, but it was about
an Army Lieutenant who was being tried to killing a man who allegedly
raped the LT's wife.

Anyhow, one of the witnesses during the trial was a Doctor, who I'm
reasonably sure was TAGS own Floyd. He was only onscreen for about
15 to 30 seconds.

*** News from WBMUTBB HQ ***

2006-10-22 Thread Allan Newsome
Hey folks,

As you likely noticed, there was a problem with the Digest on Saturday
21 Oct. The computer we're hosted on went down and the hard drive
failed. That meant they had to replace the hard drive and then restore
the data. When that happened, it reset everything to the last saved set
of data which means we lost all of Saturday and some of Friday. That's
why the Digests are numbered in repeat numbers starting at 304 again
for Sunday and Monday's will be #305 again.

Sorry for the problems but since I'm gone on the Mayberry Cruise...you
can bet if it can go wrong..it will. haha.

Mayberry.com was down all day on Saturday as well. Hopefully things are
fixed and will be okay while I'm out to sea with Howard Sprague. :)

Hey To All The Cooks Out There...can anyone tell me where I can
learn how to make cashew fudge? Holidays are a comin' and I think a pan of
cashew fudge would make wonderful gifts. I'm sure Thelma Lou has the recipe
but she's not talking. ---Shy Mary Grace

Thelma Lou surely did spill her cashews on her cashew fudge recipe. She
passed it along to Ken Beck and Jim Clark for their Aunt Bee's Mayberry
Cookbook.

Thelma Lou told them her recipe for her Cashew Fudge was...
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 3/4 to 2 cups sifted confectioners sugar
1 cup cashews

She instructed them to...
Grease a 9-inch square pan. In a saucepan melt the butter and add the
brown sugar. Cook over low heat for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add the
milk and continue cooking, stirring until the mixture boils. Remove from the
heat and allow to cool.

Gradually add the confectioners' sugar until the mixture is of fudge
consistency. Add the nuts. Spread in the prepared pain and cool. Makes 36
pieces. (If Barney isn't in the kitchen snitchinge, helping Thelma
Lou.

The person who ain't talking is Aunt Bee and her pickle recipe.

Cast Sighting Or More like hearing

2006-10-22 Thread Danny Taylor
Just heard Parley Baer on an episode of This is your FBI, an old time radio
show. He played a Location scout for a movie studio and gets hijacked by
robbers while scouting a ghost town for a movie set. Bea Benadaret was his
co-star and while I can't find a TAGs connection for her, She was the owner of
the Shady Rest Hotel near Hooterville on the show Petticote Junction. I also
just found out that she was the original voice of Granny from the Tweety and
Sylvester Warner Brother cartoons. June Foray (already famous for her roles on
the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons and her stint with Daws Butler [Famous for
more cartoon characters than I can count but Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound
are among two of them. I never knew he was the voice of Captain Crunch tho
until today] on the Stan Freberg show) then took over the voice of Granny after
Bea died in 1968. We all know that Sam Drucker (or at least the character who
played him, Frank Cady) from Hooterville spent some time with Otis in the Mt
Pilot jail.

Nat'l Examiner article/Taylor Home Inn

2006-10-22 Thread Marsha Scheuermann
I don’t know if this qualifies for “BIG” or not, all things considered, but
this week’s issue of the National Examiner
(not-quite-up-there-with-the-National-Enquirer status) has an article about
the Taylor Home Inn in it. The issue is the Oct. 28 one, with a picture of
George and Laura Bush on the cover.
