This and That
Our life here in Eau Claire, WI, continues to follow the stay at home recommendations and social distancing. So, it has been a very quiet summer thus far with no parades or car shows at all. There are a few being held, but being my age, I am not taking any chances, so we are passing them up. I miss seeing all our car show friends and we really miss the fun of parades, but one must do what one must do. I am happy to announce that our city of Eau Claire has just been named the 3rd best small city in America in which to live. I can certainly attest to that. I have only put 10 miles on the squad car thus far this summer and even less with our convertible. I had a new stereo put in the squad car as well as a nice fan system to keep us cool, but now I don't use either. But hopefully, by fall, we will be able to do a few things safely. I do continue to write my monthly column for seven publications around Wisconsin, and I try to write about Mayberry and TAGS every other month. It gives me something to do and I get a lot of nice feedback. I hope everyone is staying safe. Fortunately nothing ever changes in Mayberry and we can continue to visit our friends there whenever we choose. Netflix/TAGS
Netflix scheduled the canceling of TAGS 6 weeks - 2 months ago. Let's please not make this political. Johnna Santos Fayetteville, AR Sent from my MetroPCS 4G LTE Android device ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/
Senator Canfield
Senator Canfield Elizabeth, I have also thought that Canfield would be the best one, and out of all the rest. Someone not too long ago brought that subject up on a TAGS FB page but forgot to include Senator Canfield in the line up of Bee's suitors. I noticed it right away. I also love the Mayberry RFD episode when Bee gets engaged to the cruise ships captain. The decision she made in that episode I thought, was a very loving and considete thing to do. Wish all the people on this planet were like that. Re: Silent scene and TAGS characters in Western Series
> That maybe 20 second scene is totally silent, except for the background > musicrecall any other "silent" scene? In High Noon in Mayberry, when Andy is listening to the footsteps leading to the door. The doorbell buzzer tone was timed by someone - probably Paul (the real Mayberry guru) Mulik, I don't remember how long the tone is held but long enough to be counted as a "silent moment". PS - Anyone notice how often Leo Gordon (Luke Comstock) appears in TV Westerns? From good guy to bad guy he's everywhere, practically in every single western series made for TV. Also, Mr. McBeeve (Karl Swenson) appears often enough to rival Leo's appearances. Mostly Karl is sporting a beard and hard to recognize until he speaks.
