Re: Susan Oliver - reason Andy went back to the courthouse

2010-05-31 Thread Terrell McEntyre
Oh, he was definitely going back to be with her. Just as the title Prisoner
of Love implies, Andy was ignoring reality by following his heart and not
his head. You can see him struggle with it when he's standing outside the
courthouse doors. Besides, wasn't Andy always trying to teach Barney that
you have to sheriff more with your heart and not so much with your head? ;)

Episode with Susan Oliver

Did Andy go back to the courthouse ( after smelling her perfume on his
collar )

1. Because he was going back to be with her

or

2. Because he knew Barney wouldnt be able to fight of the persuasion of a
beautiful woman ?

Me and my aunt got into it about this one.

Andy's...um...clothing?

I know this was discussed several years ago but watching Hot Rod Otis tonight
brought it to mind again. How many times do we see Andy walking around in his
skivvies? Off hand, I can count four episodes. I say skivvies because I know
Aunt Bee didn't like the word underwear!

Bonus question: Do we ever see any other cast member in their unmentionables?

Re: Left Door

2010-05-19 Thread Terrell McEntyre
Since nobody hazarded a guess except Ken (which was incorrect), I'll give
the correct answer. The one time only the left door was open was in the
first episode, The New Housekeeper. Barney arrested Emma Brand for
jaywalking and pulled her into the courthouse through the left door. Andy
came in a moment later to save her from the Naughty Deputy!

pistol and wrote, but everyone I can remember used their right hand. Can
anyone remember a left hander on Andy?

Re: Otis Trivia

2010-05-11 Thread Terrell McEntyre
Well, seeings how Otis has a penchant for celebrating special occasions,
like birthdays, and seeings how the legal drinking age in NC in 1941 was 18,
and seeings how Otis would never drink publicly as a minor, I'd imagine Otis
got a proper snootful on his 18th birthday. So, from his arrest record, I'd
infer that Otis was born on Sept. 23, 1923.

Here is a really tough Otis trivia question. We know Aunt Bee was born on
March 17 because she mentioned that once on the show. Was Otis born
before or
after March 17? Here is a hint, the exact date of Otis' birthday was
never
mentioned, you must figure this question out by inference.

James Cagney starred in G-Men in 1935. However, Glenn Ford did play an FBI

was aired. So, maybe that was on the writer's mind when the episode was written.

There is a G-Men discussion in this old message:

Blooper

2010-04-12 Thread Terrell McEntyre
I was watching Opie and the Spoiled Kid and noticed a blooper. I searched the
digest and couldn't find any mention of it. Opie was talking with Andy about
getting more allowance. At one point, Opie stands up and leans against the
railing at the desk. All these shots of Opie are reverse images (at least on
the DVD). Opie's hat and the direction he looks at Andy are reversed. The guns
and radio in the background are reversed. A little bit a lazy editing there.

The second is when Opie says Barney's aftershave lotion doesn't smell any worse

Re: Cigarettes saved Barneys life

I believe you're talking about the Jailbreak. The bad guys are in a trailer
at a trailer park. Barney is in front of the car with the trailer when a woman
comes out of the trailer, gets in the car, starts it up, and then realizes she
doesn't have any cigarettes. She gets out of the car and goes back into the
trailer to get some cigarettes. Barney seizes the moment, jumps in the car, and
drives off with the bad guys in tow. And we always thought cigarettes are bad
for you! :)

I always get a chuckle when I see Barney bracing himself against the car like
he can stop it from moving!

Re: Aunt Bee's Romance

2010-03-22 Thread Terrell McEntyre

I found 3 other episodes with less than 8 people.
Season 3, Episode #71: Floyd, the Gay Deceiver had 7 people. Andy, Opie,
Aunt Bee, Floyd, Madeline Grayson, and a man and woman on the street at the
beginning.
Season 1, Episode #23: Andy and Opie, Housekeepers had 6 1/2 people (not
because Horatio was there). Andy, Opie, Aunt Bee, Bertha Edwards, Jimmy, a
man on the street near the end, and an unidentified driver (that counts as a
1/2, right?) near the end.
Season 2, Episode #56: The County Nurse had 6 people. Andy, Barney, Mary
Simpson, Rafe Hollister, and a man and woman on the street at the beginning.

While I was watching the 5th season episode of Aunt Bee's Romance this
morning, I noticed something unusual. During the whole show, only 8
actors total appear. Andy, Opie, Aunt Bee, Floyd, and Roger Hanover. All
of the scenes except one take place at the Taylor home. In the one scene
that takes place downtown, two men and one woman walk by, making a grand
total of only 8 people in the whole show. I would be willing to bet that
is the least number of actors in any show. Most of the shows have more
than 8 people just walking around the streets.
