Dogs,Dogs, Dogs
While watching the dogs in the jail house, I noticed the big dog with his paws and head inside the bookcase top shelf. The same bookcase that is notorious for getting its glass broken with a broom or a sling shot. Also, in another scene, Andy, Barney and Opie are outside walking to the jail house and come inside to some dogs that had been gotten rid of earlier. Otis is in the cell and he complains about them being there. How did they get in? I think a fox opened the door for them. I don't know why David had to board his dogs so he could go see Thelma Lou. He could have put let them out in a big field and let them run and play. The big ones would take care of the little ones and, as long as no thunderstorm comes up, they should be fine. Now, if they was giraffes. dan ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Dogs, dogs, dogs
I was watching Dogs, Dogs, Dogs yesterday and wondered if any of the TAGS lines were ad libbed? When Barney puts the dogs into the car and goes around to the other side, he tells the Airedale, Move over, I'm driving. That seems like an ad lib to me. It seems like such an unimportant line, but maybe the writers inserted it and the dog was told to sit in the driver's seat. Does anyone have any opinions on this. Could there be episodes with ad libs? Barney and Andy were masters of the craft. It sounds reasonable that they'd be able to stick in a sentence here and there and the director would allow it. I love the epilogue where Andy are Barney are leaning against the door when Clint Biggers tries to get it. Andy says, If that's them dogs, I ain't moving. Then they open the door a crack and both look down towards the sidewalk. Then they both slowly look up and see Mr. Biggers. What a wonderfully comic scene! Re: Dogs, Dogs, Dogs!---Dee-Troit
Thanks Jeff for those kind words!! My son is a true Mayberry fan. He lives near Escanaba on lots of land so that Rafe--who is a German Shorthaired Pointer can run and run---Sometimes he keeps up with the 4-wheeler!! I myself grew up in the suburb of Livonia! Some of my family is still there! I moved to Southwest Michigan many years ago, but enjoy going back to visit. I am raising a second generation of Mayberry fans with my grandchildren--It seems that Earnest T is their favorite---I hear it's me, it's me--it's Earnest T!!! a lot!! I will be getting another cat eventually and have already decided she will be Miss Ellie!!! I work with disabled adults and have been slowing giving my special friends my Andy Griffith tapes as I collect the dvds!!! They love them---can't get enough of them and we get into interesting discussions!! Mayberry makes a big difference in their lives!!Everyone have a great Mayberry day!!! I think that tucked away in a corner of heaven is the Mayberry we all long for deep in our hearts. Meanwhile we make a difference where we are! On a more funny note I would like to share with you all about my son's pets. He has a dog named Rafe. (Obviously he grew up with TAGS!). Then a little kitty wandered onto my son's place and they named him Otis. Well, when Otis went to the vet's to get his shots my son was in for a surprise---he was not a he, but a she!!! So now they have a cat named--Miss Otis! I laughed and laughed when I heard that! My son says their next dog will be Jud. He makes me proud!! Have a great Mayberry Day!! Your son has some good pet names Chris - where in the suburbs of Dee-Troit did you grow up? I'm in Fraser. I've talked about my dogs before, Miss Ellie and Otis are black and white Springer Spaniels, and our latest addition is Leon, a little Beagle/Terrier mutt.
