[Bug 23712] New: Category:Self-published work at Commons is not hidden anymore

2010-05-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23712

   Summary: Category:Self-published work at Commons is not hidden
anymore
   Product: Wikimedia
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: major
  Priority: Normal
 Component: General/Unknown
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: maar...@mdammers.nl

With almost 2.5M items
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Self-published_work is the biggest
category at Commons. The category was hidden but vandalized in which the
__HIDDENCAT__ was removed. This edit was reverted (and full protection was
added), but the category doesn't become hidden.

Query at the toolserver:

mysql select * from category WHERE cat_title='Self-published_work' limit 1;
++-+---+-+---++
| cat_id | cat_title   | cat_pages | cat_subcats | cat_files |
cat_hidden |
++-+---+-+---++
| 31 | Self-published_work |   2429973 |  26 |   2429892 |
0 |
++-+---+-+---++

So it looks like this row doesn't get updated (some timeout?).
As a workaround someone could set cat_hidden to 1. This would solve the problem
for Commons.

Potentially its just waiting on the job queue, and will be updated eventually.

It should also be noted, that the hidden cat property comes from the page_props
table, not the category table. cat_hidden in the category table is always 0.

That was just a guess based on the fact it didn't happen, and __HIDDENCAT__
would invalidate the cache of roughly 2.5 million pages. I don't know all that
much about the internal workings of the job queue, so it is just guess, which I
probably should of made clearer in my comment. Cheers.

Oh right, it was stored in another table

page_title='Self-published_work';
+-+-+

+-+-+

+-+-+
1 row in set (0.01 sec)

mysql select * FROM page_props WHERE pp_page=175266;
Empty set (0.00 sec

So it looks like it never ended up in the page_props table.

[Bug 22741] IP-adres shown in mails through Extension:ContactPage

Please be advised that the Dutch E-mail response team, previously to this
extension, used a similar locally-hosted e-mail form that did provide the
feature requested here. This feature – sending the IP-address – enables
OTRS-volunteers to more adequately response to requests from anonymous users,
increasing first time call solutions, service level and lowering response
times.

Since this is a request for an OTRS-related-feature (=Wikimedia-based, not
project-based), I’m not sure why local communities are involved in the
decision. If they are concerned about the privacy of visitors, Please refer
them to the applicable privacy statements of the WMF that apply to OTRS, and/or
add a line to the mail-form that says “by submitting your request, your
IP-address (IP) will be sent along”.

Thank you.

[Bug 22741] IP-adres shown in mails through Extension:ContactPage

2010-05-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22741

--- Comment #6 from mw...@wikipedia.be 2010-05-30 15:33:45 UTC ---
The IP-address is for OTRS-work some vital piece of information to adequately
response to the request of a customer. Approximately 83% of all inquiries that
arrive at info-nl cannot be solved without the IP-address (e.g. to aid on
blocked [proxy- users, received IP-warnings, and so on…). I explicitly asked to
send the IP-address in all cases, because almost no inquiry can be acted upon
without it, lowering first time call solutions.

Secondly, if users e-mail OTRS themselves via e-mail, we almost always receive
their IP-address in the header information (Gmail is one of the few
exceptions). Therefore, this extension currently – even with the said checkbox
- provides us with less information than a normal e-mail does; making it for
OTRS agents more desirable to have customers e-mail us directly instead of
using the contact form.

Thirdly, most users who use the mail-form are somewhat older, and not as
technically-gifted as our younger generation. Asking them if they want to
provide an “IP-address” is the same as asking them if they’d like a cup of tea
in Chinese: they have no idea what you’re talking about. This provides an
important (negative) service barrier, and I’m not willing to throw a barrier on
an extension service (mail-form) when people could also just e-mail.

Bringing it all together, the IP-address provides vital information that OTRS
agents cannot do without. The information we gain from this extension is less
than the information we gain from a normal e-mail and on top of that, asking
customers to send their IP-address provides a servicebarrier.

Please enable this extension, without asking customers to send their
IP-address.

Thank you.

On a related note: We do not need the IP-address of logged-in users, only of
anonymous users.

 It appears you missed my comment @ 2010-05-30 15:33:45 UTC
You submitted it while I was in the process of enabling this. You're requesting
that I remove the checkbox and force its current default behavior (pass IP for
anons, don't pass IP for logged-in users), but this checkbox was added
precisely *because* of privacy concerns that caused me to roll back the initial
deployment of this feature.

I don't want to be a pawn in this discussion by changing back and forth between
different incarnations of this feature; please have the discussion first, then
ask for the result to be implemented. In the meantime, the checkbox solution
seems to be the safer one in terms of privacy concerns.

[Bug 22967] Edit comment/summary accepts 200 chars but is truncated on save.

2010-05-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #21 from Arod Shatil arod.sha...@gmail.com 2010-05-30 17:16:22
UTC ---
(In reply to comment #20)
 Fixed in r66913
unfortunately this fix has an off-by-one bug:
+if (len  250) {
+if (e.preventDefault) e.preventDefault();
+e.returnValue = false; //IE
+return false;
+}

this means that if len *is* 250 (or 249 for that matter) the script will allow
you to add one more character, which can be 2 or 3 extra bytes which will get
truncated.
we need to do one of the following:
-- concatenate the event.data to summary.value before calculating the length,
thus:
+len = (summary.value +
event.data).replace(/[\u0080-\u07FF\uD800-\uDFFF]/g,
'**').replace(/[\u0800-\uD7FF\uE000-\u]/g, '***').length;
-- use 247 instead of 250 for the comparison

peace.

When I try to roll back an edit to a comment, the rollback silently fails.

Steps to reproduce:
1.Start a new thread
2.Log out
3.Edit the comment as an IP
4.Log back in
5.Go to recent changes, and click the rollback link at the end of the rc line
for your IP edit

Actual result:
You are taken to the thread's page, but the edit is not undone

Expected result:
The IP edit should be undone.

This is on MW1.16 beta 3 with r67097 of LiquidThreads.

[Bug 23723] New: site sporadically fails to recognize that user is logged in

2010-05-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23723

   Summary: site sporadically fails to recognize that user is
logged in
   Product: Wikimedia
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Macintosh
OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.5
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Normal
 Component: General/Unknown
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: pfors...@wikimedia.org

I've encountered odd behavior, coinciding with the Vector upgrade I believe:
every once in a while, when I click on a Wikipedia page while logged in, I get
the log in links in the upper right, as though I'm not logged in.

I still *am* logged in, it's not as though I've been kicked off -- if I refresh
the page, the proper links (user page, watchlist, preferences, etc.) show up.

Approve on the simple (binary flag) review form is now accept. Sighted is
very unlikely to come back either, being too jargony and hard to translate.

The only iffy term is accepted version, which I'm tempted to make stable
version again (it was published version, but that had legal issues).

At any rate, any wiki can always customize the messages locally against
whatever the generic translations are.

Most of enwiki's changes will be done with local MediaWiki namespace pages and
not via a message file patch.

[Bug 23724] New: undefined index errors

2010-05-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23724

   Summary: undefined index errors
   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: any
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: minor
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Semantic MediaWiki
AssignedTo: mar...@semantic-mediawiki.org
ReportedBy: sh_ho...@yahoo.com

In further results pages, I get the following errors:

Notice: Undefined index: order in
D:\public_html\mediawiki\extensions\SemanticMediaWiki\specials\AskSpecial\SMW_SpecialAsk.php
on line 116 Notice: Undefined index: order in
D:\public_html\mediawiki\extensions\SemanticMediaWiki\specials\AskSpecial\SMW_SpecialAsk.php
on line 120 Notice: Undefined index: sort in
D:\public_html\mediawiki\extensions\SemanticMediaWiki\specials\AskSpecial\SMW_SpecialAsk.php
on line 129 Notice: Undefined index: sort in
D:\public_html\mediawiki\extensions\SemanticMediaWiki\specials\AskSpecial\SMW_SpecialAsk.php
on line 132

Adding simple checks, like below, fixes it:

if (!array_key_exists ('order', $this-m_params))
  $this-m_params['order']='';

This would be a very useful feature for my Semantic MediaWiki / Semantic Forms
wiki.

Very often in SMW/SF wikis, structured data is entered using templates.
Following each template is a 'free text' section for the page. Currently, the
last line of my template reads H1Free text/H1, giving the free text
section a heading, but making sure that users won't accidentally start editing
the template (which happens all the time otherwise).

I would love for them to be able to click '[edit]' on the Free text section
heading and then be taken to edit the page itself, not the template.

[Bug 23725] New: Preloading into the info tag only works for the 'page name' parameter

Here is what I tried (layout adjusted for clarity):

{{{info
 |add title  = Add a Talk[type]
 |edit title = Edit a Talk[type]
 |page name  = Talk[type] unique number; start=1
}}}

The form is is called like this:

{{#formlink: ... | query string=Talk[type]=Tutorial }}

(The type field is mandatory).

However, the add title appears as Add a lt;Talk[type]gt;, and not Add a
Tutorial as expected.
