[Bug 24052] New: Insert link dialog cannot find pages in another variant
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24052 Summary: Insert link dialog cannot find pages in another variant Product: MediaWiki extensions Version: any Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: UsabilityInitiative AssignedTo: tpars...@wikimedia.org ReportedBy: liang...@gmail.com CC: roan.katt...@gmail.com, ngau...@wikimedia.org, amil...@wikimedia.org Assume A and a are different variants of the same character in a wiki with language converter. In the 'insert link' dialog (of WikiEditor), if a page 'XA' exists but I input 'Xa' in the dialog, it says 'the page does not exist'. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24053 Summary: dewiki: exclamation marks on watchlist increased Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: General/Unknown AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: bugrepor...@to.mabomuja.de On dewiki patrol and autopatrol rights were removed from most groups. Now on watchlist the red exclamation mark is shown on nearly every new page. e.g. if an editor is creating a subpage on is user namespace and so on. This happened because there was a 10-minute gap between me deploying the new Vector code and deploying the new CSS that goes with it: in the interim, broken pages like these were generated and were being cached in Squid. Apparently some of them are still around; purging those pages (with action=purge) should fix it. From the diff, it looks like you opted for adding code instead of removing it, which is probably for a good reason, but I'd just like to make sure that you understand my proposed fix. Current code with your fix (my interpretation): when ENTER is hit, if there is a selection, work out whether it was achieved through mouse or keyboard. If via mouse, ignore selection. If via keyboard, fill in the text with the selection and search it. My proposed fix (equivalent behaviour): when ENTER is hit, ignore any suggestion selection and always search for whatever is currently in the text box. If the selection was done via keyboard, the text box will already contain the correct string. Less code = less potential bugs, but it's probably me who is missing something... [Bug 23949] Problem with searching while mouse cursor is below the search input
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23949 --- Comment #14 from Ningauble ningau...@earthlink.net 2010-06-20 14:46:57 UTC --- (In reply to comment #9) This is closed, and _mostly_ worksforme because inadvertent hovering is no longer such a problem. However, I would like to clarify: ...highlighted by mouse hovering event does not steal keyboard focus, so yes, it is possible (but how would it help our problem?) Ok, steal keyboard focus overstates the case, it only steals enterkey behavior. Standard behavior in a combo textbox/listbox is that typing in the textbox and selection with arrow keys are committed by Enter or Tab, and mouse selection is committed by Left-Click. Distinguishing highlighted by mouse hovering as a recognizable state would help by enabling the program to avoid the error of misinterpreting Enter as a mouse action. One could say that Wikipedia has always had only one I'm feeling lucky button, and now we are trying to introduce a Search button as well. One could say that, but it would not be true. In the several years I used Wikipedia prior to the Usability Initiative rollout there have always been _two_ buttons: I'm feeling lucky (Go) and Show list of search results (Search), and this is still the case for projects that continue to use the Monobook skin by default. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24052 --- Comment #5 from Roan Kattouw roan.katt...@gmail.com 2010-06-20 16:15:45 UTC --- Right, so it looks like we need two things here: 1) We need the API's title normalization code to normalize Xa to XA, assuming XA is the canonical variant and Xa is an alias (is this correct?) so the existence check succeeds. 2) We need Extension:TitleKey to take variants into account. Currently, typing WORLD CUP into the link dialog on enwiki will suggest World Cup and a number of other results: Extension:TitleKey makes this case-insensitive, but we need it to make it variant-insensitive as well. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24055 Roan Kattouw roan.katt...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution||WONTFIX --- Comment #2 from Roan Kattouw roan.katt...@gmail.com 2010-06-20 16:23:13 UTC --- (In reply to comment #1) I didn't check whether this happens if a non-ajax preview is used. It does, and this is deliberate. In Preview or Changes mode, we can't tell if you have made any changes before hitting Preview or Changes, so we err on the side of caution and assume you have. In our usability test in October, we noticed that multiple subjects would change things in the edit box, hit Preview, then not notice that the edit box was below the preview (because the preview was multiple screenfuls long) and click the Edit button, causing them to go to a fresh edit page and lose their changes. EditWarning didn't fire because they hadn't changed anything since the page loaded. For this reason, we added some logic that makes sure EditWarning always fires on preview/changes pages, even if it hasn't detected any changes. Yes, this potentially yields false positives, but 1) clicking preview/changes without having made any changes is kinda pointless and 2) we already have code for AJAXifying the preview and changes views, making this issue moot. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 21279] Regular deletion of revisions deleted with rev_deleted breaks links in log entries
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21279 --- Comment #21 from Happy-melon happy-me...@live.com 2010-06-20 18:37:41 UTC --- (In reply to comment #18) Visible revisions have checkboxes and a del/undel selected revisions for multiple revisions in an action. Can [[Special:Undelete]] have a similar button added? It already has the checkboxes. A del/undel selected revisions button would be useful (eg to remove a RevDelete redaction on multiple deleted revisions), or to prevent the data being visible if deletion is reversed (eg page deletion is undone) These are not directly related to this bug; please file (or find, I suspect this may have been raised before) separate bugs for them. (In reply to comment #20) I theorized that if such a revision were selective undeleted and then redeleted, the selctive undeletion assigns a rev_id, so once redeleted this wouldn't be a problem, providing a quick workaround. In other words: You could check whether this definitely occurs with an old revision of the sandbox or something. [Bug 21279] Regular deletion of revisions deleted with rev_deleted breaks links in log entries
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21279 --- Comment #22 from FT2 ft2.w...@gmail.com 2010-06-20 21:36:43 UTC --- (In reply to comment #21) 1/ I'm using this bug as a tracking bug for the few last issues Werdna needs to check, to put the RevDelete log links issues to bed at this point. It sounds like he'll be tackling the last few together so this makes it easier for him to check them off, rather than opening several bugs for matters he will address in common. of course any tagged as wontfix or later may need extra bugs opened, but I think on this one, let's see how it goes before creating paperwork that may never be needed. 2/ I've tested the bug at #20 and tested revDelete on old deleted revisions of this kind. It appears to fail persistently. However it also fails on deleted revisions that do have an ar_rev_id. So at the moment it's impossible to tell whether in fact that's the problem and (by itself) old deleted revisions with ar_rev_id = null are actually not a big problem. So I've noted this as an outstanding issue, and asked Werdna, when he's fixed RevDelete on deleted revisions that are later undeleted, to go back and recheck this one and see if that fixes this point as well. It's easier that way than waiting, then filing a new bug afterwards. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

I think the best way forward here is to try and pass user-generated /* comments */ through Parser::stripSectionName on save, and remove the [[ and ]] removal from Linker::formatAutocomments [[#links]] are still just wrong, they are urldecoded() before handling, and do not have whitespace normalised (nor do they have HTML or links stripped, but they can't contain those anyway). I think the way forward is to add the whitespace normalization to Title::escapeFragmentForURL, not so sure about stopping the urldecode() of the anchor - that could also be done.
