[Bug 30339] Implement Special:UnitTesting
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30339 --- Comment #3 from Krinkle krinklem...@gmail.com 2011-08-15 08:25:39 UTC --- Implementation details: * New Special:UnitTesting page (user scripts disabled, isListed returns false depending on $wgEnableSpecialUnitTesting) * Shows a list of frameworks, by default only qunit * [[Special:UnitTesting/qunit]] outputs the QUnit base html and loads testrunner (which loads jquery.qunit and the other stuff we need) + all test suites by passing $wgUnitTestingQUnitSuites to OutputPage's addModules(). TBD: * As can be seen in the patch in the comment above wgUnitTestingQUnitSuites in DefaultSettings, adding stuff for extensions looks a little funky. The reason is simple, we don't want all test suites to be registered unless wgEnableSpecialUnitTesting is true (to avoid polluting the start up module with a lot of crap and making it twice or three times as big). I also considered adding a global variable just for these modules and calling register() myself in the SpecialUnitTesting page, but that doesn't work either because load.php doesn't know on what page we are, so they wouldn't be registered. Plus, that would mess up or not work at all with caching since startup has (and should have) only 1 cache. StartUp should never depend on user or page. So I attempted to create a hook inside ResourceLoader-__construct() that is only ran if wgEnableSpecialUnitTesting is true. And if it is register the modules and add the array_keys of the modules to $wgUnitTestingQUnitSuites. The problem is that didn't work because ResourceLoader-__construct() runs AFTER SpecialUnitTesting-execute(), so when SpecialUnitTesting-execute() did addModules( wgUnitTestingQUnitSuites ), nothing was added. That's why I work around this by letting extensions add their array keys to wgUnitTestingQUnitSuites in the global scope right away, and the registry separately through the hook. If anybody has a better solution, I would love to change it since I'm not liking this very much. Problems: * When I applied this patch and set wgEnableSpecialUnitTesting to true, and visited [[Special:UnitTesting/qunit]], I got : Uncaught RangeError: Maximum call stack size exceeded in my console and none of the test suites was loaded. As a result many other modules are broken too. (such as Exception thrown by user.options: Cannot read property 'options' of undefined). I suspect $.inArray in resolve() inside mw.loader's scope is doing something wrong. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

Why ? Because one can only file an extension big in bugzilla if the extension is in the SVN repo, as far as I know. [Bug 25312] MD5 or SHA1 checksum in stub dumps
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25312 --- Comment #11 from Brion Vibber br...@wikimedia.org 2011-08-15 19:41:49 UTC --- (In reply to comment #3) I don't see why #21860 is a blocker - if text is being read, calculating checksums is cheap enough. Storing all that in the database isn't free. When creating a stub dump, we haven't read the text yet -- the job of fetching and inserting the text is being deferred to a later process (textDumpPass) which pulls the text either from a previous dump or from the text table / external storage etc. So at that point, only data within the 'page' and 'revision' tables, and anything else that can be very cheaply fetched, is available. A rev_sha1 field that's already been pre-filled out would be usable for creating stub dumps; calculating from text after it's been read would only be usable on the final dumps (or else a second equivalent pass). Using a separate field for this also gives greater confidence that there was not internal data corruption; if the sha1 is generated from the text that's right next to it in the same file, there's no point -- the client could calculate it as easily and reliably as the server could have, and in neither case will it indicate if the data has been corrupted on the backend. (In reply to comment #7) SHA1 *might* make more sense than MD5, if only because it may help us in a crazy future where we leverage tools associated with Git or other version control systems (for example, Mercurial uses SHA1 as well). Not that there's anything planned, but since the choice of hash is somewhat arbitrary otherwise, SHA1 might be slightly preferable. I don't think there'd be much chance at integration here really; git's object references are based on SHA-1 checksums, but of the entire object including a header indicating type ('blob' for files) and size prepended. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30318 Bawolff bawolff...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Priority|High|Low Version|unspecified |any Keywords||i18n Component|General/Unknown |ParserFunctions CC||bawolff...@gmail.com Summary|#expr: doesn't support |#expr: doesn't recognize |formatnum |localized numbers (aka what ||{{formatnum:...}} makes ) Product|MediaWiki |MediaWiki extensions Severity|critical|enhancement --- Comment #3 from Bawolff bawolff...@gmail.com 2011-08-15 19:48:26 UTC --- Changing component to the extension. I'm also lowering priority (I don't feel high is appropriate for this bug ). And tagging i18n as its sort of an i18n issue. formatnum: also adds comma's/period's. For example in tr language {{formatnum:1000}} becomes 1.000 (periods are the thousands separator in tr). Thus 1.000 would have very different meanings depending on if you assumed it was a formatted number or a raw number. (I suppose we could just transform digits and not separators, but that feels really ugly, and it'd still have to be done carefully). I don't feel this is a large issue because #expr is mostly used in templates, and not encountered as much by the average user (although I could be wrong on that), and thus am leaning towards thinking this should be a WONTFIX. Keep in mind you can also do {{#expr:{{formatnum:{{{1}}}|R}}*1}} in templates, which will de-format the number so your users can use fa numerals properly reza1615: Could you give examples of times when this makes life difficult on fa (or other languages for that matter) projects in order to better judge if {{#formatnum:۲|R}} is sufficient (making this a wontfix) or if this should be a higher priority issue? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 30364] LanguageConverter should depend on the page content language instead of the wiki content language
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30364 --- Comment #2 from Robin Pepermans (SPQRobin) robinp.1...@gmail.com 2011-08-15 20:05:38 UTC --- I had already made a page describing the directionality improvements with some info on the page content language. Now I added a specific page http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Language_in_MediaWiki (and generally improved some i18n documentation). I will send an e-mail to wikitech-l.. I am subscribed to several mailing lists but I almost never post to them :-) Should do that though. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 30303] deleting page deletes all user contribution history for page
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30303 Bawolff bawolff...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEW |RESOLVED CC||bawolff...@gmail.com Resolution||WONTFIX --- Comment #2 from Bawolff bawolff...@gmail.com 2011-08-15 20:09:50 UTC --- That would be a fairly major change from the current expected behaviour. I do not think we should do this unless there is wide agreement its a good idea, or at least some usability studies suggesting its a good idea, etc. (There's also probably some difficulty in doing this efficiently given how deleted revision info is stored in a different table currently...) There's also some political issues with deleted revisions traditionally being secret, some of the arguments at bug 24941 apply. (If you think this is orwellian, you should see oversight ;) Anyways, I'm going to close this wontfix. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 25312] MD5 or SHA1 checksum in stub dumps
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25312 --- Comment #12 from Ariel T. Glenn ar...@wikimedia.org 2011-08-15 20:13:37 UTC --- Very correct about the data integrity piece, as I mentioned in comment 1. I use rev_len for now but that is not foolproof. I've seen a number of revisions on other projects that have identical revision lengths (and they are not redirects either but actual content). We've had serious data corruption in the past, and odds are we'll run into it again for one reason or another. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l
