When I get notifications, they are accompanied by messages like this: There will be no other notifications in case of further changes unless you visit this page. and this: Note that additional changes to the page User talk:Sue Gardner will not result in any further notifications, until you have logged in and visited the page. This makes me crazy: it's terribly user-unfriendly. I have a lot of pages that I monitor... Sue, I designed that this way end of 2004. Otherwise, for example, returning from a longer leave and checking your mails, your mailbox will be flooded with thousands of mails (see Confluence-Wiki: this wiki can only mail for _every_ change). But your requested change is technically possible. Regarding bandwidth of servers, internet, and server load, I have doubts if such an option can be allowed for the mass user. The notification was set when another user sends you wiki mail, but you read this mail with your mail client, not with MediaWiki. The only possible implementations for reset I can image are i) a button in the user notification delete user notification and mark mail as 'read' ii) a link with token delete user notification and mark mail as 'read' added to the wiki mail when the wiki mailer sends you the mail. All taken together I think, the idea is not bad, but implementation requires too many resources and changes, and puzzles user who are not aware that the need to manually reset the flag. If you have a dissenting option and a solution for automatic reset, please submit your idea and reopen the bug. At our Dutch Kroeg (village pump) someone noted us ('we' being the Dutch
language Wikipedians) to the Feedback dashboard on the English Wikipedia. A
number of users thought this would be a very useful addition to the site,
because it seems at least some new users use it to describe problems that they
could use help with which otherwise probably would not have been mentioned.
Because of that I would request that:
1. Moodbar, including the Feedback dashboard be implemented on the Dutch
Wikipedia, or
2. If there are issues which make #1 impossible or impractible, which they are
and what we can do to help resolving those issues as soon as possible.

I noticed when using a «using values from ...» parameter in field, you get
different page results depending on ... is namespace or concept.
* namespace: output is {{PAGENAME}} (without namespace prefix)
* concept: output is {{FULLPAGENAME}} (with namespace prefix)
I should check for category (I guess as in concept)
I was wondering whether there could be some way to have a better control on
this, without having to hack in the template itself.

Special:Listfiles doesn't find anything if the search term contains german
umlauts (the letters äöüÄÖÜß) - for example, searching for Möhre will give
zero results, but I have files like Möhre-Wilde-Blüte.jpg and
Pfalz-Möhren-1.jpg.
The problem seems to be somewhere in $dbr-buildLike which replaces the ö
with \xc3\xb6. This \xc3\xb6 doesn't match anything in the database.
At the moment, I'm using the patch pasted below as workaround - but it can give
too many results (searching for möhr will also find mähr or even mxyr).
Additionally, my patch replaces everything except the listed chars, so you
might get even more results if a user searches for a special character.
(I can live with that for now - better than finding nothing ;-)
I'm also not sure where this should be fixed - I added my workaround to
SpecialListfiles.php to avoid unintentional side effects, but it would probably
be better to fix the code in $dbr-buildLike.

WikiEditor's search-replace dialog appears to actively call
$textarea.textSelection('scrollToCaretPosition') when selecting the next match.
LiquidThreads seems to have a partial copy of the search-replace in
lqt.toolbar.js which also does this. (WTF?)
The getCaretScrollPosition() subfunction (with the 13 / 15 / 16 pixel
hardcoding) appears to be used for 'Mozilla'-style browsers, and the
getLineLength() is used by that.

I'm using MySQL 5.0.67. My config isn't very special IMHO, maybe except this: [client] default-character-set=latin1 [mysqld] default-character-set=latin1 default-collation=latin1_german1_ci Note that this is just a default, and any client (including mediawiki) can specify the charset to use when connecting to MySQL. On the mediawiki side, my configuration is quite boring and doesn't contain anything related to the charset. In the meantime I noticed that PHP's error_log() escapes special characters (like umlauts) - if I just echo out the query, it contains Möhre in valid UTF-8. In other words: there must be something wrong on the way between mediawiki and mysql. Let me check... # show create table page [...] `page_title` varchar(255) character set latin1 collate latin1_bin NOT NULL, [...] ) ENGINE=MyISAM AUTO_INCREMENT=6244 DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 COLLATE=latin1_general_ci In other words: The page_title is latin1 (aka ISO-8815-1) in the database, which matches my mySQL defaults. # select page_title from page where page_title like '%hre%'; ++ | page_title | ++ | Möhre | [...] Yes, the UTF-8 sequence for ö is really displayed as two bytes :-( Looks like mediawiki didn't tell mysql that it will hand over UTF-8 strings, and MySQL handled them as ISO-8859-1 then...
