TASK DESCRIPTIONWhen a user deletes or moves a page on Wikipesia, and the page has a wikidata entry, the action modifies the wikidata entry to change or remove the listing for that langage Wikipedia. Mbch331 added a comment. Indeed this isn't really wanted. Most people see the option, are afraid to do harm to Wikidata and uncheck it and in doing so cause harm to Wikidata. Not everyone that edits Wikipedia knows about Wikidata and what happens on Wikidata when they do something on Wikipedia. So I would advise against it. In those exception cases it's better to manually adjust Wikidata after all actions on Wikipedia have finished.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T146138EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Mbch331Cc: Mbch331, Sjoerddebruin, OdMishehu, Aklapper, D3r1ck01, Izno, Wikidata-bugs, aude___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

Spinster created this task.Spinster added projects: Wikidata, Wikidata-Gadgets.Herald added a subscriber: Aklapper. TASK DESCRIPTION@Tomayac has written an excellent add-on for Google Spreadsheets, Wikipedia Tools for Google Spreadsheets, which I use very intensively. While using it, I have often thought how incredibly handy it would be to have a similar tool, but with Wikidata-focused commands - Wikidata Tools for Google Spreadsheets. Unfortunately I'm not a programmer so can't write this myself, but I would be extremely grateful to anyone who would build this. Features that would be great to have: Start from a cell with either a Wikidata Q number or an en:Article Title (or other language code) Ability to retrieve the value of a specific property for that Q number or Wikipedia article link; either as a resulting Q number, or its label in a given language, or the string/whatever in case of (e.g.) time properties, identifiers, etc. More suggestions welcome.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T146140EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: SpinsterCc: Spinster, Tomayac, Aklapper, dachary, D3r1ck01, Izno, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Ricordisamoa, Sjoerddebruin, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

Spinster added a comment. Hi Tom, thanks for the quick reply! I know and use these functions, I actually mean something different: give me the specific value(s) for one specific property/statement, rather than all statements as happens in WIKIDATAFACTS. For instance, if I have a cell containing Q1282569, I'd like to ask specifically for the English-value label of its P109 property (profession), and then in a next cell to the right for instance its P569 (date of birth) and in another next cell its P570 (date of death). Next row I might have another Q-number for which I'd also ask its P109, and then P569, P570, etc. Each cell requests one property specifically. I hope I'm making myself clear. As this is very Wikidata-centric I thought about a separate add-on rather than integrated in the current Wikipedia-centered one, but maybe they can be integrated too.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T146140EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: SpinsterCc: Spinster, Tomayac, Aklapper, dachary, D3r1ck01, Izno, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Ricordisamoa, Sjoerddebruin, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T76229: [Story] create demo infoboxes
Andrei_Stroe added a comment. Thanks, @Strainu for the praise and for letting me know of this discussion. By now, we have many infoboxes that have been refactored into working both in parameter-less mode, and with local override. I had to heavily enhance https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modul:Wikidata in order to make it expose some functions that provide exactly what is needed in an infobox starting from an item, such as getOneValue (returns one value from those with the highest rank), getOneValueNoRef (same without reference), getValueListWithSeparator, getTimestampedValueListWithSeparator, getDateValue, getPreferredValue. An example of infobox that uses these functions is https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Format:Infocaseta_Joc_video Other infoboxes were rewritten in LUA, such as https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Format:Infocaseta_A%C8%99ezare and https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Format:Infocaseta_Fotbalist https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Format:Infocaseta_Biografie was rewritten in LUA as a basic infobox for biographies (and takes multiple biographical data from Wikidata, such as birth date and place, occupation etc.). It can, however, be extended into more specific biography infoboxes, both in LUA, such as https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Format:Infocaseta_Om_politic for politicians and https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Format:Infocaseta_Actor for actors; and with basic parameters, such as https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Format:Infocaseta_Artist for painters and other visual artists. I avoided creating infoboxes for use with Wikidata that are separate from those with specified parameters in order to push the move towards Wikidata. The only example of such infobox is https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Format:Taxobox-wd (LUA-based, only works with Wikidata as a parameter-less infobox) that is different than https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Format:Taxobox (which still works with parameters only) - this is a complex infobox in a field of which I know little (biological taxonomy), so I wanted to avoid intruding in such an area. I hope this is useful, just tag me if there is more I can do in this area.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T76229EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Andrei_StroeCc: Strainu, Andrei_Stroe, Base, RexxS, Tobias1984, WikedKentaur, VIGNERON, jeblad, Smalyshev, Wesalius, Lucie, Jonas, Aklapper, putnik, Prod, Ainali, HenkvD, ValterVB, Snipre, Liuxinyu970226, Lydia_Pintscher, hoo, D3r1ck01, Izno, Psychoslave, Wikidata-bugs, aude, TheDJ, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

Stripping prefixes during normalization isn't too hard, but Cognate would need to know that "German/" is the equivalent prefix to "Deutsch:" - and so on for all languages. daniel added a comment. In the light of the above comments regarding prefixes and namespaces, a few thoughts about the database schema for connecting the pages. It seems we need the following fields: cgnt_wiki: the wiki ID cgnt_title: the page title (including namespace) cgnt_key: a normalized version of the title (including namespace) Here, cgnt_wiki+cgnt_title are unique; cgnt_wiki+cgnt_key are also unique. Pages to link are all rows with the same cgnt_wiki+cgnt_key. Note that potentially, multiple titles could get normalized to the same key, creating a conflict. This should be rare and would very likely be the result of a mistake, but the software need to recover from such a situation gracefully, particularly when one of the conflicting pages gets renamed or deleted. However, this table will become very tall, because it has roughly one entry per content page on all wiktionary projects combined. So we should try to make the rows less "broad", and remove redundant information. For instance: cgnt_wiki: the wiki ID (int ID referencing another table) cgnt_namespace: a "virtual" namespace id (int referencing another table that has namespace names and IDs for each virtual namespace, for each wiki) cgnt_title: the page title (no namespace) cgnt_key: a normalized version of the title (no namespace) Here, cgnt_wiki+cgnt_namespace+cgnt_title are unique; cgnt_wiki+cgnt_namespace+cgnt_key are also unique. Pages to link are all rows with the same cgnt_wiki+cgnt_namespace+cgnt_key. In order to construct the titles to link to, the actual per-wiki namespace IDs need to be looked up. Also note that cgnt_title and cgnt_key are usually the same. We can potentially save a lot of room by setting cgnt_title to null unless it is different from cgnt_key. This means that we can't have a unique key on cgnt_wiki+cgnt_namespace+cgnt_title, so we can only query by key, not by title. This approach makes constructing the actual page title more complex (use the title if not null, key otherwise), and updates for page deletion and renaming need to be based on the key, not the title. This may be problematic if there are multiple conflicting pages with the same key.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T145412EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Addshore, danielCc: Darkdadaah, WMDE-leszek, Lydia_Pintscher, gabriel-wmde, JAnD, daniel, Addshore, Aklapper, Lewizho99, Maathavan, D3r1ck01, Izno, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs
