Re: [Wikimedia-l] Thank you and farewell

2019-05-17 Thread Kalliope Tsouroupidou
I am very sad to see you leave, Sati. Your absence will be a net loss for
the Foundation, but knowing that it has enabled you to grow, with all the
growing pains hat growth entails, is consoling. I hope your new course
takes you closer to fulfilling your dreams.

See you on the dance floor, somewhere out there!!!

Big hugs and warm wishes for the best,

K.

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Kevin Gorman has passed away

2016-08-07 Thread Kalliope Tsouroupidou
Of little interest perhaps, but Kevin's profile appeared on my LinkedIn's
"People you may know" page (as did another recently deceased ex-WMF
staffer's). I reached out to LinkedIn directly, filling in their deceased
members form so that remove or mark the profile as deceased (different
networks handle this type of request differently). From past experience,
often the family of the deceased is too overwhelmed to deal with their
loved one's online profiles and are grateful if others 'take care' of that.

Something to consider if you come across other online profiles of Kevin.

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Facebook updates "community standards" for a "diverse global community"

2016-03-21 Thread Kalliope Tsouroupidou
I agree that mass removal of photos depicting full-nudity statues (and in
some cases erotic scenes, including intercourse[1]) or paintings of
undisputed historical significance would be more harmful than useful and
our policy should be inclusive of such material.

Given the different (:educational) context of Commons from that of
Facebook's, I think adopting their policy 'as is' would not best serve our
community. It can, however, serve as an inspirational starting point that
we can build upon and adjust, to suit Commons' purpose and mission.
