[Wikimediaindia-l] Wikipedia at FOSS / College Events
Hi all, I suppose Wikipedia stall at FOSS.IN was a great start in reaching out to FOSS / Student community in India. We must attempt to be present in a stall at all such similar events which give space for us. I have got a confirmation from Carte Blanche[1] for a stall and working with Wikipedians in Chennai for manning the stall on Feb 6. There is also a fossmeet at NIT Calicut[2] happening around the same time. Any Kerala / Malayalam wikipedians willing to take it up? We must also keep a watch on huge technical events at prominent colleges where we would be getting students from the particular region and having a stall there would give a reach to about 500-1000 Students(and/or general public). We need to do half day academies leveraging the computing labs in the local colleges. I have done about 5 of them so far and found it to be quite useful. Re: [Wikimediaindia-l] Wikipedia at FOSS / College Events
Hi Srikanth, Good initiative on securing presence at Carte Blanche. Agree, we need to participate in as many outreach events as possible. You may want to consider requesting some Wikimedia promotional material to be shipped for the event from the foundation office. Please also list this on the wikimedia.in page. After discussing with the organizers do call out for any help or assistance you might need towards Carte Blance. Arjuna, Anirudh and Arun Ganesh ran stalls at Foss.in. They can give you some experiential pointers that may be of help for your event. Also let this list know how many volunteers you may need. regards Arun On Mon, Dec 27, 2010 at 1:37 PM, Srikanth Lakshmanan srik@gmail.comwrote: Hi all, I suppose Wikipedia stall at FOSS.IN was a great start in reaching out to FOSS / Student community in India. We must attempt to be present in a stall at all such similar events which give space for us. [Wikimediaindia-l] Fwd: [Wikimedia-asia-chapters] Movement Roles
Would like to invite wikimedians on this list to participate in the 'movement roles' project below (like Morgan, Anirudh and I are also on the workgroup) - do share further with other indic lang lists you are on so that more people atleast know about it, even if they don't participate. Thanks Bishakha -- Forwarded message -- From: Morgan Chan morgand...@wikimedia.hk Date: Fri, Dec 24, 2010 at 7:25 AM Subject: [Wikimedia-asia-chapters] Movement Roles To: Asian Wikimedia Chapters coordination wikimedia-asia-chapt...@lists.wikimedia.org Dear all, Movement roles project is a WMF project to clarify the roles and responsibilities of different entities, groups, and people working to support the international Wikimedia movement. For Asian Wikimedians, it is a great chance for us to share our opinions and views. That's why i would like to invite you to participate in the movement roles project. If you are Wikimedian who already have some knowledge of how the movement is working, you can answer the* Initial Questions*: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_roles_project/Initial_Questions If you are representing your chapter or you are in relevant groups or cooperative efforts, you can answer the *Fact Base*: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_roles_project/Movement_fact_base For Fact Base, the pages for existed chapters and some known relevant groups and cooperative efforts are already reserved. You can just edit the page that you are in. In fact, you can just finish a part of the questions that you are interested instead of finishing the whole set. At least i know somebody did the same thing. But of course,*it must be the * *best if you can finish the whole set, then we can get a complete idea from you or your* *chapters.* *The deadline is in Mid-January 2011. *We will collect and analyse all the data before the meeting on 28/29 January 2011. I am in the working group of this project, so if you have any questions or difficulties when you are participating, you can contact me. Thank you very much. I hope i can see your answers on Initial Questions and you chapter's information on the face base! :-) -- Cheers, Morgan Support Free Knowledge in Hong Kong! http://wikimedia.hk/index.php/Donation Sent from my Ubuntu ___ Wikimedia-asia-chapters mailing list wikimedia-asia-chapt...@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimedia-asia-chapters ___ Wikimediaindia-l mailing list Wikimediaindia-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediaindia-l
