Adethya,

You can only patent a product. Not an idea. The CC license in the
Wikiconference site can only control the way the content is distributed and
not the implementation of the idea.

Thanks Adethya. While dealing with ideas, the instrument of rights control
is patents and design registrations. I'm afraid only the text of your idea
itself is covered by the creative commons license and not the idea or
thought which cannot be copyright. Hope that clears your doubt.

It is indeed unfortunate that you feel someone stole your idea, but the
bright side is that if this idea is something that can benefit the
community at large and help improve the education in the country, then the
real winner is our economy :)

I am curious about the creative commons connection though. did you publish
your idea somewhere under a cc-by-sa license? If you can share what exactly
the license issue is, I would be happy to help, since I have dealt with a
lot of copyright violations of my own work.

Hi,

I'm offline a lot nowadays & missed Adetya's personal email to me due to my
annual holiday. I'm still 125 emails to go to catch up :). I spoke to
Adethya on mobile and answered his concerns to the best of my knowledge.
I'm sorry for the delay which upset him and grateful to Gautam for
responding and restoring his faith in our community.

Well, it's entirely possible that they had the idea too, no? None of
us have a monopoly on ideas and sometimes, more than one person has
the same or similar idea at the same time. It's happened before.

Maybe you should have tried the Creative Commons mailing lists? Or
even posted her to ask for a general call for help. If nothing else,
feel free to email me and I can try and help.

Thank you.

Re: [Wikimediaindia-l] With Due Regrets

2012-05-28 Thread Adethya Sudarsanan
Dear Gautham,

Thanks for your response!! :) Am so glad that some one responded.

Well, As i mentioned previously, I don't want to mention the names of those
I e-mailed.

As far as the issue - to put it plainly, I developed an idea to improve
educational sector using social media. But now I find that some
organization has adopted the similar methodology. I was just concerned to
know if the idea was taken from me. I am stating that my idea was stolen,
but I have my doubts.

I was confused over the commons license, and so I e-mailed "active" people
in the list. But there was no response.

For some reasons, I was afraid to bring the issue to the lists, so mailed
some members about it.

-Ade.

Hi Adethya:

I have to admit, I'm very puzzled by your email. We don't know what
you wrote about, why it is important and who you wrote to. I'm not
very sure what we can do to help?

Thank you.

[Wikimediaindia-l] With Due Regrets

2012-05-28 Thread Adethya Sudarsanan
Dear list members,

I am Adethya, from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

I sent an important e-mail to a few members of this community. I don't
wanna name them, but I am telling this with deep regret that I have
not received any replies from them so far.

The issue I specified in that e-mail was VERY SENSITIVE. Sensitive enough
to raise a few eye brows in the world. But I feel so bad, that not even one
person to whom I e-mailed replied back.

Not to mention, I sent the mails to those who are very active in the list.
Somehow I feel that they din't have time to reply back to my e-mail, but I
find their e-mails floating in every mail chain so far.

I even personally mailed one member leaving my contact details, just in
case he needs them, but there was no response from him, either.

It is so disheartening, guys. I may not be a regular "contributor" to the
list's e-mails, but I take time to read through every mail and get to know
whats happening. I am so updated about the happenings, if they were posted
in the list e-mails, But when it comes to an SUPER IMPORTANT issue, there
seems no replies.

With Regrets,
Ade. S
