Re: [WISPA] How to keep track of appointments
Ok, I didn't really see any suggestions that stood out for me. Here's a little more info. I am thinking about going the PDA/handheld route. I don't want to have to boot up the laptop all the time on the road to write down something about a phone call. It takes too much time (yes, I'm ADHD, thats ADD with a hyper thrown in there) So.what can ya'll recommend for a PDA device? I have never owned one, so I don't know what to look for. I tend to get as much bells and whistles as I can afford. I like dell's stuff. I see dell has some gps program that you can get with it, what do you guys use for gps (I don't like the one on my Nextel). But anyway, back to the appointments. Anyone know what they have in the way of notepads or calenders? I figure I'll write in the calender if something needs to be done on a specific day, and on the notepad when ti is a whenever job. Currently all I have is a word document on the laptop that says "to do list" and I add and delete stuff. Problem is I don't always even look at the list, oops! So maybe if I had a fancy lil PDA on my side I'd get it out get my life in order. Any suggestions on handhelds? Brian RickG wrote: ACT is great in addition to Outlook. On 11/16/05, Pete Davis. Of course if your ADD/ADHD is that serious you might get distracted by the Web browser and just surf all day, never actually getting anything done. :) HEY! I resemble that remark. ;) I'd like to spend under $400 on this. David E. Smith wrote: Reliable Internet, LLC wrote: [ stuff about a PDA ] If you have lots of money, go get a Nokia 770. I can't report on how well they work because they just came out yesterday, but it sure looks like a fun nifty toy... Despite the manufacturer, it's not a phone, it's an Internet Tablet. Built-in Wi-Fi, Web browser, and for the geek in all of us, it runs Linux and reportedly is very developer-friendly (so you can add other stuff). Before long someone will have SSH and VNC clients, so you could probably run your whole network from one in a pinch. (Note to self: bug boss about how I need one of these to do my job. :D ) Of course if your ADD/ADHD is that serious you might get distracted by the Web browser and just surf all day, never actually getting anything done. :) In that case, just get some old black-and-white Palm device off eBay for twenty bucks and call it a day. Since you're a one-man show, you'll probably just have to experiment a bit and see what works best for you, for the time being. Most of my suggestions are more group-oriented (we use the calendaring software that came with our email system, and just have a couple shared logins and the honor system, but we also have a couple more people to keep track of). This is the way all my demarctech.com radios are. It's all I've ever used. I go to a site, pop 4 screws...unplug pigtailplug in new board.screw in 4 screws and I'm off to configure. It's all mounted so you don't have to re aim or anything. I like it. I happen to know they are getting into a much bigger building, getting a few people hired and are getting some products ready that will blow the socks off whats out there for price v performance. I believe with the new people on board any issues some of you had (I've heard complaining different places) with support will go away. In the past they were hard to get on the phone.
