RE: [WIRELESS-LAN] WLAN Override- Again a WiSM question

2008-05-01 Thread Bob Brunke
I did too. We had this same problem when I upgraded to WiSM code 5.0.148.0.

>From the information I could gather, it seemed to be most prevalent in new
Macs and those PCs running some form of Vista.

We also found that pings, both to and from the wireless client, would stop
responding. When pings returned, none of the sequence numbers would be
missing but return times would be in the 5,000+ ms range.

We have since reverted back to WiSM code 4.2.99.0 and those problems have
gone away again.

Subject: [WIRELESS-LAN] WLAN Override- Again a WiSM question

One more question on WiSMs, to check my own sanity. I'm starting to see what
appears to be a trend. Where I have WLAN override selected and applied and
in use for a while with no issues, it seems that randomly SSIDs are either
dropping from the list of selected SSIDs and need to be reapplied, or are in
the list and selected, but not actually being transmitted and require a
reboot to get them to behave again. Is like config is partially lost. I have
seen this around a dozen times over the last several months, not tied to any
specific controller or WLAN, just feels a bit indiscriminate.

Anyone else getting this condition?

We are seeing the exact same issue. It seems as the settings are just not being
saved. In the beginning we thought it might have been an issue with WCS not
saving the settings on the WiSMs, but we discarded this after applying the
settings directly on the WiSMs. I haven´t found anything on the release notes.

Yes. That's one of the bugs we're currently dealing with on 4404
controllers running 4.1.185.0. To my knowledge, Cisco hasn't assigned a
bug ID to it yet.

Re: [WIRELESS-LAN] Latest "Stable" WiSM Code?

2008-05-01 Thread James Nesbitt
We are running 4.2.112.0 on 10 of 22 Wism controllers. These 10
controllers were upgraded from 4.1.185.0 (very stable, did not want to
upgrade) to facilitate the installation of the AP1252 pre N. By the
way, the 5.0.148.0 is not the latest code and if loaded you will have
to physically remove one of the radios from the AP1252 in order for
the other to work. The 4.2.112.0 is the latest and has the "AP1250
low power/reduced functionality mode" fix, allowing both radios to run
off of .af power.

Thus far we have not had any major problems with the 4.2.112.0 code,
which is running approximately 800 APs with over 100 of the type
AP1252. A couple of no connects that were solved by rebooting
individual APs.

Re: [WIRELESS-LAN] Latest "Stable" WiSM Code?

2008-05-01 Thread Charles Spurgeon
The 4.2.112.0 version may well fix the bug that you are working with
TAC, but be advised that 4.2.112.0 is crashing for us every few days
on a production controller.

It has never crashed in the lab, but started crashing once it had been
installed in our first "real world" test of it. This WiSM controller
has an identical config to our other production controllers, and there
are all of 11 APs on it which serve the building that houses our
offices. So it's not like it's under severe stress or anything.

Crashinfo and other information was sent to Cisco, and their response
was that our bug had been identified and that a new maintenance
release of 4.2 code would be released "real soon" to address this
issue and at least one other (apparently related) crashing issue "that
was only seen at one other customer site" (yeah, right).

We are still running 4.1.185.0 on the rest of our controllers. That's
also the only version that has passed "AssureWave" testing. We plan to
test 4.2 again as soon as Cisco ships the new maintenance release,
since we want to move to 4.2 during the summer for all the usual
reasons.
