[wsjt-devel] FT8 decode algorithm info

2018-12-17 Thread bagel

Now that FT8 version 2 is released and the uptake on the new version is
very successful, I hope this is an appropriate time to ask questions of
the development team.  I want to learn the details on the FT8 decoding
algorithms.  I am reading the Fortran code, but there isn't a great
deal of comments explaining what is going on.  Is there some documentation
somewhere with details?

Mike, that MSVC++ 2013 Redistributable is not specific to Windows 7, it

Re: [wsjt-devel] Suggestion Hold TX Freq sticky

2018-12-17 Thread WB5JJJ
I did and Laurie said the same thing. I gave it a try just now and it DOES
work. I guess there was just a glitch in my configurations when the FT8 RU
was in progress. That was the last time I did a configuration change.
That weekend, I had to restart JTAlert every time I went back to normal
FT8.

Re: [wsjt-devel] Suggestion Hold TX Freq sticky

2018-12-17 Thread WB5JJJ
Sorry. It seems to be working now. I just tried it. However, it did not
function properly when I tried the FT8 Round Up a couple weekend back.
This could have just been a glitch that day in my computer.

Thanks.

That should not be the case.

JTAlert will automatically detect changes in WSJT-X when it changes
config and automatically readjusts itself ensuring docking and UDP
traffic monitoring for that WSJT-X instance continue. This has been
inplace since JTAlert version  2.10.0 (21-JUL-2017). There have been no
reports since then that this is not working.

No, I haven't. It's not that big of a deal to me when I go to/from DXP.
It's just become habit, like checking the Hold box when going from MSK144
to FT8 - most times.

Re: [wsjt-devel] Suggestion Hold TX Freq sticky

2018-12-17 Thread WB5JJJ
Yes, I do that for DXP and such that require several changes. But just to
change modes, there is a drop down for that already that's just 2 clicks
and everything continues along just fine. Plus the Auto Seq and Call 1st
are sticky already.

If I do a configuration change, I have to stop and restart JTAlert as it
doesn't connect again automatically to the new configuration. That's OK
when I go to DXP configuration since I will probably stay there for several
hours.

Could this box be made a sticky for either choice?

Hi George,

one easy option is to create a separate configuration for each mode
("Menu->Configurations"). it is normally easier to switch configurations
(two mouse clicks) than to switch modes (two mouse clicks plus several
more to change other options and settings necessary for the new mode and
intended use).

Re: [wsjt-devel] Suggestion Hold TX Freq sticky

A single left mouse click in the box does the same and keeps the frequency
in place.

Also, the Auto Seq and Call 1st are sticky, so why not Hold Tx Freq?
That's my question.

[wsjt-devel] wsjtx 2.0.0 and Icom IC-7610 audio issues

2018-12-17 Thread Bramax

Hi,

just installed version in object in a HP notebook with intel i5
processor, using Windows 10 1809 with latest patches.

Rig is Icom IC-7610, connected to PC with th USB cable that provide CAT
controls and audio emulation.

Any driver is installed perfectly and CAT control of WSJTx program is
working.

I noted a very big issue (bug?): the audio controls of TX and RX levels
are inverted.

I explain better: if you need to set the audio level that goes to the
rig, to set the proper power and ALC level, you have to use the
"Loudspeaker" slider on Windows.

The same if you want to set the input audio level that goes from rig to
PC, you have to use the "Microphone" slider in Windows audio controls.

It is the opposite than in WSJTx 1.9.1 and also than logic.

Please note and investigate and eventually correct in next release.

Thanks and bye,

Maurizio I2NOY

Re: [wsjt-devel] Worked before..?

2018-12-17 Thread mail
Hi Bill,

Of course. Why make it easy for the majority (90+ %) of users when you can
make it difficult (SARCASM OFF). But maybe you could write for example (WKD
B4) in brackets - if it's not too difficult. ;-) This would make it a lot
easier to understand for most users.

Hi Allan,

The "CQ in message" highlighting does mean what it says, it only equates to
worked before of some category if you have those other categories enabled
and they are not triggered. If a user wants to just have CQ calls
highlighted then enabling just this option will achieve just that.

Perhaps it was an idea to change the text "CQ in message" to the perhaps
more correct "Worked before" as there appear to be some misunderstandings
among some users.
