I rely on the wind calculations for ridge and wave flights. I have scanned the change log files for entries related to wind, but some of the entries are very terse. I also looked at the source file patches but I am not 100% sure what algorithm is inside each version. Is there a discussion on the developers list or other source of info on this? (Off topic, I am curious what wind algorithms are inside the Top Hat fork of XCSoar). Does the alpha version log a crash dump file, if so would you like me to upload it in a bug report? Max, I couldnt find more information about "remove setting Prefer external wind" in the change log. Can you elaborate?I am always using this setting to get the 302 wind calculation, as well as to toggle between external wind and manual wind. I hope this option is still going to be supported. I didnt get a chance to try this myself as I am traveling for some soaring events and prefer to continue using the stable version for now.
