[Zeitgeist] [Bug 1064916] Re: Excluded directory shown in recent files when accessed
I think I understood what happens. In the blacklist plugin of zeitgeist, everytime a URL is being logged, we need to check if it is a symlink. If it is a symlink, then try to resolve it. Now check if the resolved URI is blacklisted. If yes, drop the current event -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Zeitgeist Framework Team, which is subscribed to Zeitgeist Framework. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1064916 Title: Excluded directory shown in recent files when accessed Status in Zeitgeist Framework: Triaged Status in “zeitgeist” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: With the Privacy tool, I set /home/user/Private to be excluded. I browsed to the folder in Nautilus, then opened files inside the folder. FIles inside the folder are not logged, but the folder itself is. Thus Private shows up in my recent files, negating the point of excluding it. Like for instance, if you blacklist firefox, it stops Unity from detecting whether the user has run firefox or not and perhaps does not show it in the recently used apps. But this does not stop firefox from logging the web history of the user. The privacy manager should atleast display a message saying that Privacy manager does not stop the application itself from logging data but just Unity or Zeitgeist since otherwise the user will be confused. ** Changed in: zeitgeist-datasources Milestone: 0.8.1 = 0.8.2 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Zeitgeist Framework Team, which is subscribed to Zeitgeist Data-Sources. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/668181 Title: Sites logged by Firefox data provider and later erased by Firefox's Forget About This Site option not removed from Zeitgeist database Status in Zeitgeist Data-Sources: Confirmed Bug description: Current Behavior: Sites logged (and viewable in Gnome Activity Journal) by the Zeitgeist data source for Firefox and subsequently erased using the Forget About This Site option in Firefox remain in Zeitgeist logs. Expected Behavior: Zeitgeist data source recognizes when Firefox is told to forget about a site and removes the site from Zeitgeist logs. Steps to Replicate: 1. Compile and install the Firefox data provider from Launchpad in trunk 2. Launch Firefox and browse to a domain you're comfortable with removing from your history. 3. Verify (through Gnome Activity Journal or other interfaces) that site is logged into Zeitgeist 4. View the history for today (History Show All History Today) 5. Right-click on the site to remove from history and click Forget About This Site 6. Go back into Gnome Activity Journal (or Sezen, etc.) and see if the site forgotten by Firefox is still logged by Zeitgeist Software Versions: * Data source for Firefox (extension): 0.1 compiled from Launchpad trunk (but I'm unsure which revision—I'll compile the latest as soon as I can) * Firefox: 3.6.12 from the official Ubuntu repositories * Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid). Other Notes: The behavior is the same for Delete This Page; the page is not removed from Zeitgeist logs. There's no guaranteed way to trigger it, but it only seems to occur when opening synaptic, pressing cancel from the administrator password dialog, or just randomly when using synaptic. I recently upgraded to the newest ATI drivers and I though that must be the cause, but I vaguely remember it doing it once or twice a day or so beforehand.
