Thank you all for your replies.
I understand that its better to drop Python2.4 support at this point.

Andre

To me, the driving factor is that Python 2.4 is no-longer supported by
the Python
developers.

I agree. We have to support Python 2.5, 2.6 and 2.7 already. There is also a
desire to use newer releases, since they get us closer to Python 3.

At this point, the burden of keeping 2.4 compatibility is too high for
ongoing development.

If your underlying stability requirements are such that you cannot
upgrade, or even install and use a newer non-RPM python, then you should
stick with the stable ZTK 1.0 release. Note that nothing prevents us
from making a 1.0.x release containing package versions with critical
fixes backported (although I don't think anybody is signed up to do that
work at present).

[Zope-dev] Python 2.4 Support

2010-09-17 Thread Andre Schubert
Hi,

i have a little question.
Is there a chance to not drop Python2.4 Support for ZTK1.1?
I ask because Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 is shipped with Python2.4,
and should have been supported for some years from now.

Regards,
Andre
