Yes, th
Wow, that's allot of info people, thanks for all of the input.
I tried a new pram battery and still nada, not a thing. on the monitor
thought I am using the monitor on my new used beige G3 so that wasn't the
issued either. I do believe that my performa has finally bit the dust unless

In my personal experience machines that don't have keyboard startup & don't
have a pas
w I just leave my computer plugged in all the time. It remembers
the pram settings even when I turn off the computer

I don't have any documentation relating to the trickle charge theory,
but I do have a personal experience with it.
My mom turned off the power strip every night that her Performa 6300
was connected to. She was needing a PRAM battery every year until I
convinced her not to do that. Her last PRAM
As a general rule, you should always unplug any computer before inserting a new
card. It's more critical on some machines than on others, but leaving it
plugged in is inviting possibly shorting out both the card and the motherboard
if your hand slips and something touches where it shouldn't. No
Hi,
Is there any benefit to keeping a computer plugged into a live circuit
as opposed to having it plugged into a power strip which is turned off
when not in use? I thought I read somewhere that on the 8100 one needed
to unplug the AC before inserting nubus cards because of some trickle
voltage

If there is disk activity, it looks like the machine is booting properly but
the monitor isn't workig for some reason. What kind of monitor are you using?
Does the monitor work with other Macs? Is it an VGA monitor connected through
an DB-15 to VGA adapter? If so, are the adapter's switches correct
had smtg dfferent happening on a pizza-box Mac (the performa 475 or so)... i
insisted, and eventually it booted (i remember i opened the cover, pushed
the rams into the slots and so on, but don't think this was the issue) and
so it does now... every then and when it does this again once or twice
