maybe the helper tool needs to be updated. the helper tool is installed when you start 4D web server on mac on port < 1024 for the first time. the old (v14, v15) tool has an option called REUSEADDR set to true, which means it may failed to detect unavailable ports under certain circumstances.

Something weird on my old MacPro server running 10.11. I cannot start web server on 4D v16.3. Web server does start OK on V12.4, same box. I did try to create new apps on both versions, to eliminate any issues with my app. With V12, Start Web & Test Web work fine. Same thing on V16.3 gives me

Thanks for your replies on this. Am I correct in saying that 4D v15 still doesn't allow the setting of a path relative to the user's home folder? ie "~/folder/application.4dd" If that's the case, I'm still no further forward :-( My plan is for each user to have their own copy of the data file
