GASP!! I figured it out!

I allowed hidden files to be viewed and there is the file path I need!

Sheesh. I thought my emails were sitting in limbo somewhere.

Thanks for being there anyway. :)

  Hi,

Due to the unresolvable ati2dvag.dll errors, I had to have a clean reinstall
of Windows done, which caused more problems, of course.

The most important one is the Outlook Express storage folder. I always knew
how to back up my messages and transfer them to a different computer and
such. Outlook Express had to be reinstalled too and I imported my saved
messages, but the directory path is nowhere to be found. I've done a
thorough search. Now I cannot save my messages!

This is the correct file path, which I have used before:
  C:/Documents and Settings/Pat/Local Settings/Application
  Data/Identities/long number/Microsoft/Outlook Express

I get this far before there is nothing more:
  C:/Documents and Settings/Pat/

  Help!

Yeah Pat, Microsoft has always had those files hidden by default because
they don't think their customers are intelligent enough to not screw
things up. After a fresh install changing that setting is one of the
first things you've got to do. Here are some other normal chores not to
forget after a fresh install:
1. Install drivers for the chipset - very important, even if the PC
seems to run ok.
2. Make sure all devices are working properly in device manager (Start,
Run, type DEVMGMT.MSC). If you see any yellow !, or red X, you need
to install correct drivers.
3. If you use any anti-virus and firewall get them installed soon. I
recommend the built-in Windows firewall, and Microsoft Security
Essentials for anti-virus. Both free downloads from MS.

Thanks so much.

#1. I'd like to trust my professional 'puter guy did this, but I don't know
specifically. But you'll have to 'splain it to me since that's a new one for
me.
#2. Done! All is good.
#3. I know I have to do this. He advised against AVG because it runs ALL the
time, slowing down the machine, so I'm rethinking that (sacrificing the paid
time I still have) and will probably go to Essentials, which seems adqeuate.

If device manager doesn't show any problems your guy has already
installed the chipset drivers - so no worries there.
I used to use AVG, but MS Security Essentials runs so well and is so
un-intrusive I switched to it. Who else knows better how to protect
windows than Microsoft? You can get it at the Microsoft website if you
decide to try it. Totally free - and absolutely NO nags - unlike all
other AV apps.
