Thanks so much. #1. I'd like to trust my professional 'puter guy did this, but I don't know specifically. But you'll have to 'splain it to me since that's a new one for me. #2. Done! All is good. #3. I know I have to do this. He advised against AVG because it runs ALL the time, slowing down the machine, so I'm rethinking that (sacrificing the paid time I still have) and will probably go to Essentials, which seems adqeuate.

After a fresh install changing that setting is one of the first things you've got to do. Here are some other normal chores not to forget after a fresh install: 1. Install drivers for the chipset - very important, even if the PC seems to run ok. 2. Make sure all devices are working properly in device manager (Start, Run, type DEVMGMT.MSC). If you see any yellow "!", or red "X", you need to install correct drivers. 3. If you use any anti-virus and firewall get them installed soon. I recommend the built-in Windows firewall, and Microsoft Security Essentials for anti-virus. Both free downloads from MS. Donk On 7/5/2013 1:40 PM, PatB wrote: > GASP!!
