Pune: Visually challenged cricketers put their best foot forward.
Anyone who has a little knowledge about cricket for the visually
challenged would know that for players of the B1 category (those who
are completely blind), scoring every single run is a big achievement
as compared to the players of B2 and B3 categories (those who can see
up to three metres and six metres respectively). No wonder every run
scored by the players of B1 category is doubled when it’s counted for
the team. At the West Zone Cricket Tournament organised by Samarthanam
Trust in association with the Cricket Association for the Blind of
Maharashtra at PYC Hindu Gymkhana and Deccan Gymkhana, Pune’s Amol
Karche contributed 32 of the 190 runs in 20 overs for the Maharashtra
team, in a match against the Madhya Pradesh team held on Tuesday.
While he took two wickets against the Madhya Pradesh team, he
contributed 24 runs in the match against Gujarat held on Wednesday.
Karche has represented the country in the 2014 T20 as well as 2006 and
2012 ODI World Cups for the blind, that were all won by India. Source:

Sight and sensibility.

On World Sight Day, photographers in the city were allowed a glimpse
into the world of their companions who were visually impaired

“Look up, there’s a bird on a tree…To your left, there are children
playing in the open space…there’s a speeding two-wheeler (TVS Excel!)
around, watch out” — Photographer K. Ananthan followed the
instructions of a visually-impaired person as he clicked images at VOC
park grounds. Ananthan was blindfolded and was a part of the blind
photography walk organised by Nigal, a videographic start up run by
students of Kumaraguru College of Technology. The Nigal team tied up
with International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and
organised the exercise to mark World Sight Day (October 13). It was an
event that saw both photographers and the visually-impaired taking
part. “We wanted to sensitise public on the issue of blindness and
vision impairment. It’s a part of Nigal’s ‘social immersion videos
project’ where we spread awareness on a social issue,” explained
Aakash Selvan of Nigal. Source:

Top 10 predictions for IT companies in 2017 and beyond
Ranjani Ayyar| TNN | Updated: Oct 19, 2016, 18:32 IST
Gartner has revealed its top 10 predictions for IT companies and users in 2017
and beyond.
Gartner has revealed its top 10 predictions for IT companies and users in 2017
and beyond.
CHENNAI: Gartner on Wednesday revealed its top 10 predictions for IT companies
and users in 2017 and beyond. Gartner's top predictions for 2017 examine three
fundamental effects of continued digital innovation: experience and engagement,
business innovation, and the secondary effects that result from increased
digital capabilities.

"Gartner's top strategic predictions continue to offer a provocative look at
what might happen in some of the most critical areas of technology evolution.
At the core of future outcomes is the notion of digital disruption, which has
moved from an infrequent inconvenience to a consistent stream of change that is
redefining markets and entire industries," said Daryl Plummer, managing
vice-president, chief of research and Gartner Fellow.

"Last year, we said digital changes were coming fast. This year the
acceleration continues and may cause secondary effects that have wide-ranging
impact on people and technology," Plummer.

The following are the predictions made by Gartner

By 2020, 100 million consumers will shop in augmented reality

The popularity of augmented reality (AR) applications, such as Pokemon GO, will
help bring AR into the mainstream, prompting more retailers to incorporate it
into the shopping experience. As mobile device usage becomes an ingrained
behaviour, further blurring the lines between the physical and digital worlds,
brands and their retail partners will need to develop mechanisms to leverage
this behaviour to enhance the shopping experience. For example, a consumer
pointing the IKEA catalog app at a room in his home can "place" furniture where
he'd like it to go. This real-world element differentiates AR apps from those
offering virtual reality (VR).

By 2020, 30% of web browsing sessions will be done without a screen

New audio-centric technologies, such as Google Home and Amazon's Echo, are
making access to dialogue-based information ubiquitous and spawning new
platforms based on "voice-first" interactions. By eliminating the need to use
ones' hands and eyes for browsing, vocal interactions extend the utility of web
sessions to contexts such as driving, cooking, walking, socialising, exercising
and operating machinery. As a result, the share of waking hours devoid of
instant access to online resources will approach zero.

By 2019, 20% of brands will abandon their mobile apps

Many brands are finding that the level of adoption, customer engagement and
return on investment (ROI) delivered by their mobile applications are
significantly less than the expectations that underpinned their app investment.
New approaches are emerging that have a lower barrier to discovery and install
and offer levels of engagement that approach those of applications at a
fraction of the investment, support and marketing cost.

By 2020, algorithms will positively alter the behaviour of more than 1 billion
global workers global workers

Contextualisation algorithms have advanced exponentially to include a variety
of behavioural interventions such as psychology, social neuroscience and
cognitive science. Human beings tend to be emotionally charged and factually
drained, causing them to be irrational.

Algorithms can positively alter that behaviour by augmenting their intelligence
with the large collective memory bank containing knowledge that has been
socialised and put to the test. This will help workers "remember" anything or
be informed of just-in-time knowledge that they have never even experienced,
leaving them to objectively complete the task at hand but also to better
appreciate life as it unveils.

By 2022, a blockchain-based business will be worth $10 billion

Blockchain technology is established as the next revolution in transaction
recording. A blockchain ledger provides an immutable, shared view of all
transactions between engaging parties. Parties can therefore immediately act on
a committed blockchain record, secure in the knowledge that it cannot be
changed. Any kind of value exchange can happen in minutes, not days. Blockchain
applications can free up cash, reduce transaction costs, and accelerate
business processes.

By 2021, 20% of all activities an individual engages in will involve at least
one of the top-seven digital giants

The current top-seven digital giants by revenue and market capitalisation are
Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent. As the physical,
financial and healthcare world becomes more digital, many

Just put the cursur at the roll number column. Choose the date of which the
attendance has to be marked.
As you take the roll call, keep on changing rows by down arrow. The roll
numbers will change but the date shall remain the same.

Let me tell you the structure of the sheet:
at the extreme left column, mean A1 to A50 there are rol numbers of the
students, in column B, from B1 to B50 there are names of the students.
other collums like C, D, E represent the dates of lectures.

now I want, that my cursor should be in the column of date, while jaws would

I have found out the shortcut key for it. It is alt+ctrl+insert+c. Cursor
must be on the title column.

Alternately, you can use alt+ctrl+insert+r for setting the title row.

Use the verbosity dialogue box to set column a for title reading. This is
a bit tricky, but it works fine.

Make sure your cursor is in column a if it is the column you want
announced.

Press insert+v for verbosity dialogue box.

In the opening search field type title and wait for the results.

Now all options containing the word title will come up.

Arrow down to Define Name Column and Row Titles Override and press
spacebar on it to select. Jaws should say for all files.

Now arrow down to the option Row Titles to Column Range. It should say
column a. If it down't, use spacebar to define it.

Tab over to ok button and activate it.

Now test your action. If it does not work, try it again checking each
step.

The Narendra Modi government plans an incentive for disabled people to
get jobs, in the latest addition to the slew of benefits for rural
 India.
 http://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/govt-plans-allowance-for-disabled-people-who-get-jobs/story-NnjQwtpkgdcXHBHrxB44oJ.html
A minimum of Rs 26,000 will be given to each disabled people who
participate in the government’s ambitious skill development programme
and get a job. “Be it private sector or a government job, a disabled
candidate will get these benefits,” said rural development secretary
 Amarjit Sinha.

The latest benefit comes amid the centre’s renewed outreach to the
disabled people who form 2.1% of India’s population. With these
incentives, the government hopes it will encourage disabled people to
join skill developments courses that are aimed to reap the demographic
dividend. India has 21 million people suffering from one form of
 disability or the other.

The incentives include accommodation allowance of Rs 3000 for 2 to 6
months. Uniform allowance of Rs 3000 as disabled people has higher
chances of soiling their dresses. Rs 5000 to buy wheel chairs or
calipers or Rs 2000 for teaching aids like reading softwares.

“We have also identified areas where disabled people can work easily
and deliver best results. If given proper training, they can get
better jobs and earn more money,” said Sinha.

The latest step for the welfare of disabled people comes after the
Parliament enacted the law on Rights of persons with Disabilities. The
law conferred several rights and entitlements to disabled persons.

“Department of empowered persons with disabilities may kindly explore
the feasibility for providing for the provisions as part of any skill
development provisions,” says a note of the rural development
 ministry.

The government has also asked different departments to make offices
 and training centres more disabled-friendly.

The rural ministry submitted its proposals to the Common Norms
Committee of the skill development ministry to take the final call.

“We have also identified areas where disabled people can work easily
and deliver best results. If given proper training, they can get
better jobs and earn more money,” said Sinha.

Re: [AI] Using MS Excel for taking attendance of students

2016-10-20 Thread Amiyo Biswas
Use the verbosity dialogue box to set column a for title reading. This is a
bit tricky, but it works fine.

Make sure your cursor is in column a if it is the column you want announced.

Press insert+v for verbosity dialogue box.

In the opening search field type title and wait for the results.

Now all options containing the word title will come up.

Arrow down to Define Name Column and Row Titles Override and press spacebar
on it to select. Jaws should say for all files.

Now arrow down to the option Row Titles to Column Range. It should say
column a. If it down't, use spacebar to define it.

Tab over to ok button and activate it.

Now test your action. If it does not work, try it again checking each step.

With best regards,

if the ticket booked by online cannot be cancelled in counter but can
be done only by online, and in case of escort even if we purchase
ticket through counter we cannot change the escort before journey only
you can cancel the escort ticket and can travel alone.

Why not.
We, as disabled do have higher chances of soiling our dresses.

3. Go to Start Mail Merge options.
4. Click Step by Step Mail Merge Wizard.
