I've noticed the same a few times. Press the slash (/) key while in focus
mode. That's the shortcut to jump to the search edit box.

Re: [AI] Need help in closing internet tabs with windows 11 and Jaws 23

2024-04-23 Thread Mayank Sharma
Hi,

You could try closing it from the task view. Press Windows key plus tab,
find the window you'd like to close, and press delete. Alternatively, press
applications key or shift f10 on the task and select the close option.

Re: [AI] Unable to follow radio commentary of FIFA World cup 2022 since last night

2022-11-28 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi,

BBC might not make the important matches available outside the UK since
these are the last games of the group stage. Unless someone has a better
alternative May I suggest tv streaming? It's not bad and you can pair it
with text commentary. Jio Cinema is streaming it free and you can
download the app or log in on the website.

Hope it helps,

Mayank

Re: [AI] Windows 11 - Compatibility with NVDA

2022-05-03 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi Vaibhav,

It works well, and isn't a lot different from Windows 10 itself in terms
of how it works with NVDA from my experience. My only problem so far is the
continuous shift in focus while setting the app-specific volumes in
settings. You can notice that with other screen readers too so that has to
be a microsoft fix.
Are there any specific issues you wanted to check on?

Kind regards

Mayank

Re: [AI] Latest NVDA update and trouble with Google sheets

2022-04-14 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi,

Which version of NVDA are you working with? I've just installed the latest
stable version which is 2021.3.5, same as Aishwarya's link, and I'm able to
work with Sheets and Gold wave. I believe the subsequent versions will have
add-on compatibility issues for which only beta versions are out so far.

You can check your version by going to NVDA settings by pressing NVDA key
plus N, moving down to Help subMenu , and then about.

Kind regards

Mayank

Re: [AI] shortcut key to clear the download history :

2022-04-10 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi,

I believe you can do that by going to the downloads with the shortcut ctrl
+ J, and then using the shortcut alt + c. This is the shortest way I know.
I can't make sure that it still works as expected at the moment, I don't
know a sure way to bring them all back, and I'd like to keep mine.

Good luck!

Kind regards

That is definitely a small flaw, yes. But working well for me so far with
the space I have.
I guess it might help for one to go check it out themselves at a store
before buying it, if possible.

Re: [AI] Suggestions needed for accessible treadmill

2022-03-06 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi,

A lot depends on your budget, there are better options at a higher price
range. I did like Powermax treadmills when I researched but couldn't find
the best fit within the budget and the features I was looking for. I would
suggest going for a treadmill with a motor of at least 2.5 or 3 if you
intend to use it regularly. The belt should be wide enough as suggested
above. I looked for an auto-incline option as that adds an extra element to
your workout and less pressure on your joints.
An exercise bike is also a good buy, but I went for a treadmill as I
couldn't find easier alternative workout options as compared to a bike. It
depends on what you intend to get out of it at the end as they both work
different sets of muscles.

This is what I bought three years ago, I haven't looked at what is in the
market now:
https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07DD2G71S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8=1

It has physical buttons

Hope this helps
Kind regards

Re: [AI] dim screen

2022-03-06 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi Tanmay,

To add to all that in case you want to create a shortcut to toggle screen
curtain on or off, go to NVDA settings by pressing NVDA + N, 'preferences',
and then 'Input gestures.' In the dialog that opens up, go all the way down
to vision, under which you should find the option of toggling screen
curtain on or off. You can press tab, select the add button and put your
own shortcut.
I'll suggest choosing something that does not clash with any NVDA or NVDA
add-on shortcut.

Kind regards

Re: [AI] boarding of persons with disabilities in the front car of the Delhi metro

2022-02-23 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Thank you so much for the update. It's good to know that having our details
noted down is up to us. Although if that's always been the case it might
take some time to convince them to stop if we don't want them to.
Referring to your first point I think any of the parties could be
potentially uncomfortable, it would be good if there was a choice. But if
that's the most practical solution perhaps renaming it to include disabled
individuals might help us feel less out of place. Just a thought.
And I don't know how helpful, or counter-productive it might be, but I
always insist on stairs or escalators, and refuse to go in the lift, and
have a conversation with my guide about it on the way if it's the first
time.

Kind regards

Hi,

to use the OCR feature you can press NVDA + r. You can make sure the window
is maximized by pressing windows key + up arrow, and as Nishant said do
make sure your screen curtain is not turned on.

[AI] Ball-tracking technology in Tennis

2022-01-19 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi everyone,

I thought this might interest some of us - in particularly Tennis fans.
There's a new technology being used at the Australian open that lets us
track the ball's movement with respect to the players in 3d audio, which
makes the game easier to follow. It's a colaberation between Tennis
Australia, Monash University and AKQA. You can read more on that here:
https://action-audio.com/

We can listen to the Australian open radio commentary with and without the
technology on their official website.

Kind regards

Mayank

Re: [AI] How to activate talkback in Samsung without sighted person's assistance?

2022-01-06 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi,

I think there's a shortcut to turn on accessibility shortcuts by pressing
the power button till it vibrates, then tap the screen once with two
fingers and long press.
However I haven't tried it myself so I'm not certain how useful it is.

Kind regards

Mayank

2022-01-06 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi,

Pressing the volume up and down buttons together for three seconds when the
shortcut is enabled should do it. You can enable the shortcut in the
accessibility settings.

Kind regards

Hi,

Thank you Sheik and Pratap for the suggestions, these sound promising. I
didn't know Lazarillo was an IOS app as well.
Krishna, I was looking forward to trying out Soundscape but it doesn't
allow me to download through the App Store. It's apparently not available
at my location.

Thanks

[AI] Navigation apps for IOS

2022-01-02 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi,

A new IOS user here. Would anyone know of apps for navigation that would
allow me to mark specific points we're at, so we can simply travel from one
point to another? I'm using Google and Apple maps and haven't found a
feature to bookmark points that do not include landmarks.
I'd also like to ask everyone which are the navigation apps they're using
that work well in India.

Thanks

Mayank

the show. That's on the screen just before you play the video.

Re: [AI] Mirzapur 2

2020-10-24 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi,

for the titles that have AD available, you can turn it on from the
playback menu itself. You have to select 'Subtitles and Close
captions' from the playback controls, and then you'll find the radio
button for audio description under audio, for whichever language it is
vailable. I'm not sure, but it should work the same on IOS.

You can find the titles that are available in AD here:

https://www.amazon.in/s?i=instant-video=nb_sb_noss

Once you've turned on the audio description, it generally switches on
automatically when you next play a title that has an AD.

Hope it helps.

Kind regards

Mayank

Re: [AI] WhatsApp issue - On the screen to choose contacts to Share/Forward content

2020-09-03 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi,

I've observed that happens when you touch or swipe to large groups in
the list of contacts or recently contacted. The speech resumes after
a few seconds. I directly search for the contact.
I'm using Google TTS on Moto g4 plus

Kind regards

Re: [AI] Regarding whatsapp web

2020-08-25 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi Vaibhav,

try going through the chat messages using focus mode (NVDA + Space.)
You can perform actions on chat messages similar to conversations -
pressing right arrow will give you access to the options. The
experience was not very different with Jaws when I'd tried.

2020-02-24 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi.

There are a few apps and websites that players use. Winboard is one of
the accessible apps that is popular. You can play online there at
freechess.org too.
There's also lichess.org which has improved accessibility on the web,
but the android application is not very usable.
Feel free to get in touch for anything. My ID is: mayanks2...@gmail.com.

Thanks a ton for the update, This development must have passed me by.

John

It does work on the android app, but I couldn't make it work on the
website. I tried a couple of titles including Hanna.
Thanks

Re: [AI] Netflix started providing Hindi audio descriptions of some of its Hindi web series in India.

2020-01-20 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi.

I did reach out to Amazon, and they told me it was because of
copyright issues that the audio description feature is not available
in India. They did say they’ll forward the concern. I’m not sure if
it’s available in any other market outside US at the moment. It is
indeed difficult to understand why its not been brought to a big
market like India’s, it’ll only attract more membership.

Sunil,

I think all Netflix Indian originals have audio description that we
can access, starting with Sacred Games.

2019-12-04 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi all.

I had a couple of questions for the locals in Mumbai or who happen to
be staying there, as I’m visiting here for the first time on my own.
Is Uber/Ola the only way that we usually use to travel? Could someone
give me tips to best travel within the city To different places if I’m

instance.
Any input would be appreciated.

Hi.

Thanks a lot Neha.

Works on Firefox and Chrome. Haven't tried on other browsers. Just
before the name there's the drop down to select your payment mode, and
after you proceed there are radio buttons to again confirm your mode
of payment.
Works well here.

Hope it helps.

[AI] using in design and quarkxpress for layouts

2016-10-10 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hello everyone,

I'm currently doing a course in journalism, and I'll be required to
work on software like Adobe In design and Quarkxpress. And I want to
start learning them now along with the students, since there's time
before I enter the profession.

Has anyone tried working on these softwares? Are they at all
manageable, as they seem visual to work with?
Would like to hear from anyone who might have fiddled around with
these softwares and also people who are in the Journalism field.

Thank you.

Kind regards

Mayank

Re: [AI] required info about chess game on pc and its accessibility

2011-11-27 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
hi,

answering your first question, yes, there are hundreds of chess games
for the PC, and a few highly recommended.

anyways, I haven't checked their accessibility, and hence can not be
sure how friendly for VIs they are.

however, the accessible chess software I use is winBoard. for jaws.
you can download it from the following sendspace link:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/be3tea

this is version 4.4.1. winBoard is pretty comfortable to use with
jjaws. I heard that the latest version of winboard for jaws, 4.5.2 is
also accessible with NVDA, though till now I haven't got a chance to
check it.

there is another chess software you can get which is specially made
for VIs. (called talks 64), that you can do by first registering with
AICFB, (all india chess federation for the blinds), who also I think
provide you with some daisy material for improving your chess. though
again, I haven't checked that out yet.

hope this helps. I'll try to clear any doubts you have.

kind regards

Mayank

p.s. it's still highly recommended that you have a chess board with
you while playing on the computer. at least for some time initially.
