Hi there,
Some time ago, someone mentioned that many TapeAlerts were appearing in
the log. Some/many/all of those alerts were weird, in the sense that the
error was e.g. that a firmware update failed, while no firmware update was
in progress.
For some time now (a few months), we're experiencing
Hi
Does the storage agent node (_SA) have data within TSM? If not, you need
to remove the storage agent node from the TSM server(which shouldnt be a
problem, as the node in question is no longer using LAN-free
functionality). That should also remove the license requirement.
Best Regards
Beatriz,
Like Dwight already said, probably SAN switch zoning.
Also the latest Atape driver is (as far as I know) 9.0.7.0 (see
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/storage/devdrvr/AIX).

If you're running EFC to manage your zones, you have to add the devices
to the zone, add the zone to the zoneset, and activate the zoneset. If
you're not running EFC you can verify the zone and members from the
command line of the switch. Also, are your switch settings correct for
each port?
I was wondering if there was a way to export a particular servers
filespaces/archives and make them available to another server for restoring
if needed.
This would be used where data on a server is moved to another server and
the first server is taken out of service.
Thanks,
Chris.
Christopher
Hi Christopher!
Yes you can. Checkout the EXPORT NODE command for details.
If the target node hasn't backed up yet, a rename node (and an additional
rename filespace for Wintel nodes) would do the trick.

There is a known problem with the way the gui works, versions and pit.
The gui first searches the directory tree from the top down. The files exist at a pit
but he directory version no longer exists, it can't display that branch of the tree.

the process was abandonded:

It's actually Netware 6.0 and turns out that the problem is that the
TSA600.NLM wasn't loaded. There were errors all over the DSMERROR.LOG and
DSMSCHED.LOG files, nothing was backed up, but the client still notified the
TSM server that the event completed successfully. That just plain isn't
right!
Not only is it not right that it gave a Completed message, it's also
not right that dsmcad.nlm will even load without the TSA's being loaded
first. I've done that a couple times also, although I'm just used to
checking for the TSA's right away now.

Hi Stuart.
Sorry. If backupset to virtual volumes won't fit, then you'll have to split your
backups into two storagepool hierarchies.
but, since this is a belt-and-braces-both-fail scenario, and is thus unlikely to be
used, is it possible to make the backup by shipping tapes?
