Right, I know I have been here before but we are still having some baaad
problems with our Mac OSX 5.2.3.12 clients.
I'm currently still only running TSM Server 5.1.6.2 on Solaris until the
hardware arrives for the upgrade (v soon), but as far as I am concerned,
there should be no problem

Maybe be the Windows XP firewall is blocking the connection? You might try
turning off the built-in firewall or using another system to download the
firmware from instead of your laptop. Also, I noticed that the manual
states RSHD is for UNIX systems. Maybe this is your problem?

client and received the following message in the dsmwebcl.log
and Dsmerror.log shows the following.

I have opened a PMR with IBM anyway and sent them the requested Error,
Trace logs etc. But I will also do as you recommend and perform some of my

You say that LAN free is not an option, therefore you are restoring over
your IP network.
Firstly, can you confirm that you have a GB NIC in your TSM server and
GB NIC in your target restore SQL server.

I'm trying to help the Domino folks clear the errors so their Domino DB
backups will complete successfully. We're seeing this error on a couple of

To go along with the activity log info Andy has given, if you watch the
mount activity messages in the log when the restore is kicked off it should
give you a clue as to what tape it is on too. Especially if nothing else if
going on that will force you to sift through other mount messages.

Shouldn't have to define serial number. This is picked automatically after you
define a path to one or more of control paths in a fabric environment (if
used). For UNIX control paths are defined as 2smc along with 2st for example.

You can get this on the lcd panel, I would guess under service - library vpd
Haven't gone upstairs, we have configured the web interface and the above is

It turned out to be a corrupt download from the IBM FTP site. I
redownloaded it and it now installs completely.
However, I still haven't figured out how we could have unzipped and
untarred a corrupt file without errors.

Not sure about Windows configuration, but on Solaris I have path defined to a
drive for library communication and then one for each drive configuration.
The one for the library configuration will used one of the drives defined as
the Control Path.
