Luc, Maybe be the Windows XP firewall is blocking the connection? You might try turning off the built-in firewall or using another system to download the firmware from instead of your laptop. Also, I noticed that the manual states RSHD is for UNIX systems. Maybe this is your problem?

Tim - Do 'dsmc q opt' to verify your client options... CAD's mission is to fire up the dsmc schedule process, where a failure of dsmc is most commonly due to a bad options change. If not that, then look for a prevailing dsmc schedule process, perhaps lingering from a prior schedule. Richard

To go along with the activity log info Andy has given, if you watch the mount activity messages in the log when the restore is kicked off it should give you a clue as to what tape it is on too. Especially if nothing else if going on that will force you to sift through other mount messages.

Shouldn't have to define serial number. This is picked automatically after you define a path to one or more of control paths in a fabric environment (if used). For UNIX control paths are defined as 2smc along with 2st for example. (Solaris) DEFINE LIBRARY 3584LIB1 LIBTYPE=SCSI SHARED=YES
