Hi All,
I got a request to restore this filename:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSVOL\sysvol\eu.rabonet.com\scripts\EUAMS\eu_ams_users.xls
But for some reason neither the GUI or the command line recognise any
directory deeper than eu.rabonet.com
This has been extracted from the dsmsched.log:

Matthew,
This is part of the systemstate, so you wont be able to restore it
individually (at least not easily). Windows takes an all-or-nothing
approach with the file collection that makes up the systemstate.

This APAR might shed some light, although I think it is going to be a
case of working as designed.

Your extract from the dsmsched.log might be from the system_object(W2K)

Leigh,
I was only passed the line, not the log, but as Steve Scaub said, I
won't be able to restore it to where it came without ruining a
production system, so I'll need the customer to find a machine to
restore it to - he just came back to me to say that they are unable
acquire one.
Oh well -
I have heard that the datbase upgrade to 5.3.3 can take some time
I am running 5.2.3. I know I have to code the UPGRADEDB parm
in the TSM jcl. How long does the upgrade take. Is there a message
written after the upgrade is complete. Our DB is 31440 MB.

Database upgrade was painless.
Script upgrade was painless and ran for a couple of minutes.
Installing TSM Version 5.2 Administrative Interface for z/OS

from the support ctr. I attached it. The
Fairly basic stuff here - the TSM scheduler must be running within the
schedule window if you want TSM to do something.
This line in the schedule log:
08/22/06 14:39:53 Scheduler has been stopped.
And this line after it:
08/22/06 22:39:55 Scheduler has been started by Dsmcad.
Indicate that
yeah, okay ... thanks
so ... what do you think why is there 8 hours gap ?

Use the command line interface: specify SYSTEM STATE as the file space
name in the restore file spec, and also specify a different restore
destination. From dsmc's prompt, enter a command like the one shown below:

I didn't see that you managed the scheduler with the CAD, so I was
perhaps a little hasty with my reply.
Having looked through the manual, I am unable to find any option which
may, for example, start the CAD slightly earlier than eight hours later.

Hi,
What would be the best way of moving a LAN FREE client to a new box? Is
it just a matter of reinstalling TSM, STA and copying the old
configuration files?
Thanks,

I am going through the ASR function of TSM while installing
Windows 2003. The install does not install the NIC driver
and without that ASR wont work unlesss I used backupsets.
I am using a farily new IBM server that uses Broadcom nic drivers
Any one seen this issue before.

It is likely new machine will see the drives as different SCSI
addresses, so be sure to delete and recreate the paths on the TSM

Hi Tim,
Yes we've seen this problem with our HP servers. What we do is create a
slipstream cd with windows 2003, sp1 and the nic card drivers on it.(of
course you may be using 2003 G2) We use a useful utility called nlite. It's
gui based and is freeware. Another way to get around this problem is
I have run into the same issue here. My team is responsible for over
400 servers, so having an ASR disk for each server is a little much.
What we have done is using RDP on our HP servers we have an image build
that will build a plain server in 20 minutes. The server has w2k3, sp1,
and the TSM
There is too little information to do any more than speculate (guess).
When troubleshooting problems, you need to consider the system as a whole,
and not focus only on the area where the problem was immediately evident
(in this case, dsmsched.log). For TSM, you need to consider, at a minimum,

Hi all,
I try to set up TSM GUI 5.2 to backup files on Solaris 9 stores under
/export/home directory including its sub-directories. I let it backup
overnight and check in the morning but I don't see TSM does backup its
sub-directories as I want. Does anyone have any ideas? Below is what I
In the options field enter subdir=yes. Also remove the /* from the end

The options and objects you fill in for the schedule are the same as if
you specified from the dsmc command line. For example, to back up this
directory manually, you would run:
dsmc selective /export/home/ -subdir=yes
