As it seems, everyone would like to have a copy.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to store it on a public ftp or website for
everyone to download.
If no one else will, I will donate some bandwith on my personal website.
Otherwise, I would really appreciate a copy as well.
Kind regards,
Ilja G.
Hi there guys,
we are about to check out the Diligent Virtual Tape Facility for open
systems to use as a tape storage device in order to perform lan-free
backups. It's supported to use the currently installed 20TB
DS4300-Turbo/S-ATA backend storage on which store file type volumes. The
current
Yup,
I've done that, and it works fine,
although you have to specify the /vmfs/filesystemname/* directory
explicitly, because TSM doesn't recognize it as a filesystem during it's
scan of all-local filesystems.

Mike,
We purchase all 3590 and in the future 3592 tapes at Imation.
They have the 3592 tapes in their portfolio. As a mather of fact, IBM sells
3590/3592 and probably other types to, as an OEM product, manufactured by
Imation.
We have no experience on 3592. We plan to implement in Q1/04.

Rod,
We are currently in the same process of trying to consolidate on VMWare.
We have a TSM client running succesfully on the Linux-Base of the Vmware
box, giving us a chance to backup complete Wintel guest operating systems as
single files, having the guest OS's suspended of course. This

You are mistaken my friend.
Win2k machines can only be properly recovered when the OS is installed like

Something on 1TB tapes,
I am not anctious to use a 1TB tape.
1. The extra tape length means longer FWD and RWD times.
2. Having this much data on one tape means that the possibility for a
multisession restore becomes smaller because the number of tapes that can be
mounted for the restore will
Joni,
In the example you state it is possible to do a restore across these OS'es,
but only because the filesystem types are simmilar.
You have to check to see if the source and target filesystems are, in case
of SUN, UFS.
I have done this in the past, because some SUN servers are in the DMZ and

looks like you need to make a script which figures out what filesystems are

after each other, whatever your machine can handle.
try the df command to display the mounted filesystems.

Hi there guys,
There's a great redbook covering the Windows 2000 restore in detail,
including the meaning and sence of it all.

Hi there,
Last weekend we upgraded our TSM Server from 4.1.2.9 to 5.1.6.2 by doing an
unloaddb,fresh install and a loaddb.
Yes, we had the time to do it (it took 12 hours in total).
We use a script which gathers info from the summary table on amounts of data

Hi there,
Can anyone explain to me why information is displayed like below, with ~ and

Also, the help text looks like rubbish to me.
Perhaps these things are related and i have missed something during
installation.

Hi there.
On a particular NT Server connected via WAN (2 M/b) we are experiencing
session lost errors since a couple of days. I cannot determine the cause of
this problem. The network shows no unregularities and the NT-box has no load
of any kind. The ADSM (v3.2.1.90) server shows no entries in
