to this is to define the LTO gen 2 volumes manually to the storage pool and not have it take scratch volumes (chance Maximum Scratch Volumes Allowed to 0 instead of 50), if you do that you can bee 100% sure that tsm wont take generation 1 tapes to that pool. hi Lindy Theoraticly you should be able to do it. use mksysb to backup to optical device. Then use DD to copy the file to a diks and use TSM to back it up. But still i don´t understand why you should wana back up mksysb, when you can´t boot form a TSM tape on AIX, then it would make your mksysb
