Do I need to continue to use software compression and forget about the
hardware side?
Any thoughts would be helpful.

Even easier is to use TDPOSYNC SYNCDB, and it lets you put a date range in.
Then you can select by reviewing the date of each backup you want to
keep/delete. Much safer than typing the correct number in. If you use a
crosscheck command daily, then old backups shoudln't hang around.

You cannot fool windows 2000 by just changing the name of the server in the
dsm.opt file. The server name must actually be the node you are restoring
or the registry will not restore. At this point you will likely have to
restart your recovery, I hope this was a test.

After the install you can just change the server to be a member of a
workgroup, then without rebooting, change it back to be a member of the
domain. The SID will then be reconciled within AD. If this ghost image is
a copy of a server already in production, then you may have to do this to
both
Is this from doing a restore or a save?

I've had this happen. Even if I was recovering to like hardware, but my
systems have always seemed fine when I was done. When you do this, do you
install TSM into an alternate directory? If you don't install to an
alternate source, then the registry keys for TSM will pound on itself and

That could be where the problem is. Try the same thing only this time
install the OS and TSM (to a different directory) from scratch. Then do
the TSM recovery procedures and see if that alleviates the problems.

We currently share our tape library with an AS/400. If the AS/400 is using
a tape drive and TSM needs it, it goes to an unavailable state and the TSM
server then continues to poll the device to check its availability.
However, the TSM server only polls for a certain amount of time and then
gives
look at the invalid entry error message again and you will see
preschedulecmd spelled incorrectly.

I am running TSM client 3.7.2 on a Win2000 server with Service pack 2. The

the client
I have tried the ftp and can transfer 500 meg in 45 seconds which is 9.7
MB/sec. So it does appear to be TSM that is responding slowly.

When Tivoli executes a backup on the file in our Windows environment, it
appears to be changing the access dates on those objects. Is there any way
to backup a file with TSM and NOT affect the access date?
Thanks in advance.

The backup shown here only backs up the directory not the files (1 object

the files. Could you try this again and get back to me?

Actually, the tape will go into error often after the tape is inserted into
the drive and validated and checked. The error seems to occur while the
tape is being place by the gripper back onto the rack. I have even had the
same error occur to abend the service yet still check the tape in
as process 4.

We have this set, and have no recollection of this occurring. That is, NT does
not adjust the time stamp on all the files just because the server time changes.
