Shadow copy is supported for backing up System State on W2k3 under client
version 5.2.x and Server version 5.2.x. You must be at both versions for
this to work without errors.

No need to halt the server on W2K
1) define logvol X:\newlogvol.ext formatsize= (were XXX is MB and
equal/Larger to the log you want to delete)
2) delete logvol X:\oldlogvol.ext

You do not need the previous devconfig file to perform a restore. The
volhist can be created before the restore and in some cases has to be

Had a similar problem and one solution would be to write a script on your
TSM Server that pings the ip address of the Storage Agent Machine once every
55 min. In our case this kept the route alive so the Client (or Agent in
your case) knows how to get back to the TSM Server.
This is caused by the client (or agent) not requesting enough pre-allocated
space in the diskpool for the data that it actually needs to send. We ran
into this on both Tandem clients and SQL agents. On the SQL there is an
estimated change percentage parameter that you can use and it will
We just ran into the same problem on a 60GB database that we were attempting
to restore to another server. The problem ended up that the SQL server had
reconstruction processing that it needed to perform as part of the restore
and (in our case) was going to take from 4 to six hours. The problem
I had this same error when I was testing my upgrade in our test env. and it
is becuase their is a key missing in your registry for that CLSID. I
reinstalled over the top of the version 4.2 that I had just installed and it
worked fine. Not sure what caused it but it did work after that!
I am using StorServer Manager and as far as I am concerned it addes alot of

the last year with the product and I would recommend it to anyone. It is
easy for the operations staff to learn and use as a tool in regards to
I just performed the upgrade from 4.1.2 to 4.2 on win2000 and it worked
fine. It should leave the server1 directory in place as that is the
instance of the server and the install will detect that the instance is
already there and do the conversion of the data to the 4.2 version. You

OK since I just went through this I would suggest that anyone that is on
current maintance for 4.X contact thier IBM inside sales rep to verify this
information but here is what I was directed to do.

You could run a backup stg command prior to running your normal backup stg

from one storage pool to another. The command would be:

Since you are using STK Libattach does that mean you did not have to license

I would like to use the SAN Agents with ACSLS Libraries on Clients that run
TDP for Exchange and SQL. It appears that you cannot share a ACSLS defined
library. Has anybody found a way to do this or know if it is in the
requirements for future releases?

Server side option set will either be placed at the begining or at the end
of the include/exclude list depending on wether you tell it to override
"yes" or "no".
example in my env:
all server side option sets for "excludes" are set with override = no
all server side option sets for "includes"
