Re: Waiting on Basic Access permissions request

2024-01-22 Thread 'Ryan Bell' via Google Ads API and AdWords API Forum
Following up on this. The first time I submitted a request for Basic Access
was in October. Since then I've tried submitting twice more and have tried
contacting the API team in several ways - through our ad rep, through the
Google Ads API Forum, and through this email. I don't understand what's
happening to make this such a drawn-out process, so please let me know what
I can do to help. It is very necessary for our business processes that we
have access to our company ads performance. We're not requesting data or
access to any other companies, we simply want to ingest our daily
ads/campaigns performance.
Thanks,
Ryan

STILL WAITING ON BASIC ACCESS DEVELOPER TOKEN

2024-01-22 Thread 'Ryan Bell' via Google Ads API and AdWords API Forum
Hi,
My team has been trying to apply for basic access level for our developer
token since October. In that time we have submitted the application three
times, posted on this forum, and gone through the process of setting up
data ingestion for Facebook Ads, TikTok Ads, and Bing Ads. All we're
looking to do is ingest our own company's ad performance data, nothing more
complicated than that. I don't understand why this has been such a
difficult process and why we've gotten no response in three months of
work...
Please let me know how I can speed up this process. Since I know this will
be asked, there is no case ID/number associated with this process. We've
been asked before but we never get a case ID when we submit the
application. Please advise.
Thanks,
Ryan @FIXD

Google Ads Enhanced Conversion Tracking API

2023-02-21 Thread Ryan Roberts

Google & Community,

We are building a product to help support server to server conversion
tracking.

Although we have successfully achieved GCLID tracking/support we are having
issues with “Enhanced Conversion Tracking” (without a CLID).

In the following documentation “Enhanced conversions for leads”
https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/9888656#leads it is implied
that we call the Google Ads API twice:

   -

   Once on step #3 sending hashed email/phone field
   -

   Once on step #5 again sending hashed email/phone field as a conversion
   event

Can you point us to the documentation for both steps #3, and #5?

—

Our solution is based on the following examples from Google Ads:

   -

https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/conversions/upload-identifiers
   -

https://github.com/googleads/google-ads-python/blob/main/examples/remarketing/upload_conversion_with_identifiers.py

We believe these specific examples correlate to step #5, leaving us with
the question of how we first send the hashed email/phone to the Google Ads
API on step #3.

Understanding request vs operation and error

2023-01-18 Thread Ryan Li
Hi,

I am trying to upload audience segments to Google Ads through the API but
am getting this error "Maximum number of user identifiers alloewd per
request is 100,000 and per operation is 20." Can someone help explain to me
what the difference between a request and operation is and help me identify
where in my code I can make the change? According to my log it seems like
it is currently being loaded as an operation instead of a request.

Also what's interesting about my error, it says the failed is with status
"INVALID_ARGUMENT" instead of "TOO_MANY_USER_IDENTIFIERS". I'm not sure if
that makes a difference or not.

Thanks,

V11 PHP Client Library - Updates to Campaign entities not taking

2022-09-23 Thread Ryan Semple
Hi,

I'm trying to debug a process that involves setting campaign dates. Using
the PHP Client library at this time

$campaign = new Campaign([
'resource_name' => ResourceNames::forCampaign($customerId, $campaignId),
'end_date' => $campaignDates['endDate'] // value is set to 2022-10-31
]);

$campaignOperation = new CampaignOperation();
$campaignOperation->setUpdate($campaign);
$campaignOperation->setUpdateMask(FieldMasks::allSetFieldsOf($campaign));

$campaignServiceClient = $googleAdsClient->getCampaignServiceClient();
$response = $campaignServiceClient->mutateCampaigns(
$customerId,
[$campaignOperation]
);

When I run this it doesn't seem to report any issues, but the campaign in
Google Ads proper isn't reflecting my changes - I found some code examples
where the date is passed in as MMDD and that didn't seem to do it,
either.

Is there something else I should be trying? When I set budgets via an
earlier step it seems okay.

Google Ads API - Enhanced Conversions / Server Side Conversions (clicks)

2022-03-30 Thread Ryan Roberts
We have an issue with C# integration on the Google Ads API and are trying
to fire conversion events from an Azure function as users arrive at a
bottom of funnel 'thank you' page.

1. As of now, we have an API response that does not allow us to understand
/ test in a production environment. We receive a message of "No click was
found for the given user identifiers that could be applied to the specified
conversion action"

2. We are unsure if the way we are doing this is even correct. We have a
Gist open for review and would love to hear from others who are struggling
with getting the Enhanced API integration setup and running. Check out our
code, let us know what we are doing right or wrong.

Billing Cost

2022-03-21 Thread Ryan Pletcher
I am wondering if there is a way that I can pull the billing_cost rather
than just the cost. Accounts will sometimes have refunds or adjustments to
the actual cost. I could not locate an option in the repots API but
wondering if there is another location that this could be pulled from.

We want to add this information to a dashboard that we have created to
display the monthly billing cost by client.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Trying to get Auth2 refresh token but get "bad 400: invalid_request"

2022-03-16 Thread 'Jason Ryan' via Google Ads API and AdWords API Forum
I also ran into this problem. Google is not very good about updating all
their documentation when they deprecate something.

The solution is to modify the "redirect_uri" in your your request url and
change it from "urn:ietf:wg:oauth:2.0:oob" to
"http://localhost/notarealpage;. That way, when you authorize your app,
google will redirect to:

http://localhost/notrealpage?code==

Then you just use that to proceed with obtaining a
refresh token.

Re: Demographical report (AgeRanges + Gender)

2022-02-13 Thread Lily Ryan
Hi,

I don't understand the last reply to this. If this feature is not intended
behaviour, why is it possible to get age AND gender breakdown in the UI (as
others have shown in screenshots). Why is there this discrepancy? Is it a
mistake in the UI that this data is available there? What is meant by
'intended behaviour'?

   reach out to the Google Ads API Team.

Ad Calls Count Discrepency

2021-02-02 Thread Ryan Jackson
I'm looking to retrieve all Calls from our Ad Extensions. However, when I
look in the UI the results are consistently different (eg, click_view=8,
ui=6). One client I'm able to run the query for the days before and after —
to test if it was a Time Zone issue — and the results before and after are
0 which match the UI.

I'm using the API to fetch 'click_view's where the 'click_type' is CALLS.
What I can't seem to find is if there's a method to check if these
click_views are valid or not.

ga_service = client.get_service('GoogleAdsService', version='v4')
query = 'SELECT click_view.gclid,
click_view.location_of_presence.most_specific, \
click_view.resource_name, segments.date, segments.click_type, \
ad_group.id, ad_group.name, campaign.id, campaign.name \
FROM click_view \
WHERE segments.date = "{}" AND segments.click_type = "CALLS" \
ORDER BY campaign.id'.format(targetDate.strftime('%Y-%m-%d'))

What am I missing? There's got to be a way...

Recommendation Service API question.

2020-07-28 Thread Ryan Lin
Hi all, currently I'm collecting the recommendation data from google ads
api.
I found that there's a recommendation type which is called "Create DSA
(Dynamic Search Ads)" on the website, however, I do not find any
information about "Create DSA" in the recommendation service api.

Does it support in the api?
If yes, which api service or any information that I can refer?
If no, will it be supported in the future?

Thank you so much.

Headline & Description Fields Missing for Video Discovery Ads

2019-11-21 Thread Ryan Whitten
Hi there,

We traditionally got headline, description_1, and description_2 fields for
video discovery ads via the AD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT in the AdWords API. We
are now trying to get the same data in the Google Ads API and cannot get
any results for video discovery ads.

Should these fields be returning values for video discovery ads, or is
there another type we should be using? I can only find TrueViewInstream
references in the docs (e.g.
ad_group_ad.ad.video_ad.in_stream.companion_banner), nothing for video
discovery.

ad.text_ad.description_1
ad.text_ad.description_2
ad.text_ad.headline

Thanks,
Ryan

Re: Zero Impression Data for Corrections

2019-11-20 Thread Ryan Whitten
Hi there,

Thanks for your reply. We are using that same report query I posted and
occasionally get zero impression rows returned. Since we want the zeroes
that part is not a big deal for us, just the inconsistency is.

What is the best way to request this as a product feature? We would really
like the ability to ask for zero impression data much like the old AdWords
API. Without it, we can never have the latest corrected data unless we
request one day at a time and remove the segments. Requesting one day at a
time really decreases performance so we are without a great solution in the
Google Ads API.

Thanks,
Ryan

Zero Impression Data for Corrections

2019-11-14 Thread Ryan Whitten
Hi there,

I know in the Google Ads API zero impression rows will be filtered out if
you segment by date. However we have been seeing rows with zeros for all
metrics, including impressions, come in when segmenting by date.

We are actually looking to get the zero impression rows to handle the case
where data is corrected after delivery (e.g. there was 1 impression on date
X deemed to be invalid, so it gets adjusted to 0 several days later). This
allows us to update the data stored in our own system and ensure the
delivery numbers are accurate.

How does the API handle this case of corrected/adjusted data and returning
the zero impression rows? Is there logic in place to return zero rows in
this scenario, and that is why we do get some zero rows returned?

Example query:

SELECT segments.date, segments.device, ad_group_ad.ad.id, campaign.id,
ad_group.id, metrics.active_view_cpm, metrics.active_view_ctr,
metrics.active_view_impressions, metrics.active_view_measurability,
metrics.active_view_measurable_cost_micros,
metrics.active_view_measurable_impressions,
metrics.active_view_viewability, metrics.all_conversions,
metrics.all_conversions_value, metrics.clicks, metrics.conversions,
metrics.conversions_value, metrics.cost_micros,
metrics.cross_device_conversions, metrics.engagements, metrics.impressions,
metrics.interactions, metrics.interaction_event_types,
metrics.video_quartile_100_rate, metrics.video_quartile_25_rate,
metrics.video_quartile_50_rate, metrics.video_quartile_75_rate,
metrics.video_views, metrics.view_through_conversions
FROM ad_group_ad
WHERE segments.date BETWEEN '2019-10-01' AND '2019-10-07'

Thanks!
Ryan

Re: Google Ads API - Placement Detail Incomplete data

Hi Bharani,

Thanks for your help. Here is an example query and the error I get. Note
that the query works if I remove `metrics.engagements` from the requested
fields. Engagements is listed in the migration guide for URL Performance
Report, but not listed as a metric for the detail_placement_view.

Query:

query = ('SELECT detail_placement_view.display_name,
detail_placement_view.group_placement_target_url, '
 'detail_placement_view.placement,
detail_placement_view.placement_type, '
 'detail_placement_view.resource_name, '
 'detail_placement_view.target_url, campaign.id, ad_group.id, '
 'metrics.clicks, metrics.impressions, metrics.video_views,
metrics.engagements '
 'FROM detail_placement_view '
 'WHERE segments.date DURING LAST_7_DAYS')

response = self.service.search(self.account_id_ext, query, page_size=50)

Error message:
{
  error_code {
query_error: PROHIBITED_METRIC_IN_SELECT_OR_WHERE_CLAUSE
  }
  message: "Cannot select or filter on the following metrics:
\'engagements\'(could not support requested resources:

}

Thanks,

2019-07-08 Thread Ryan Whitten
Hi,

Thank you. I did have trouble accessing other metrics listed on the
migration guide but not on the view page. Should the view be more accurate
than the migration guide, or is the view not feature complete yet? I don't
have the error handy but it essentially said the requested metric was not
valid for the detail_placement_view.

Thanks,

Hi, sorry for reviving an old topic but I have a related question. If the
only metrics that are included for placements are the ones in the metrics
dropdown for detail_placement_view, why does the migration guide suggest
that you can query many more metrics? Do you need to join another resource
type?
https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/migration/reports#url_performance

CLICK_PERFORMANCE_REPORT Empty Results

2019-01-18 Thread ryan
We are attempting to use the CLICK_PERFORMANCE_REPORT API. We have clicks
in our campaign ( a very small amount as we are tessting ). All other API
methods are working fine, but that one does not return the data.

Are there specific things we need to make this work?

Re: Adwords Transfer Service not sending usable search impression share data

2019-01-04 Thread Ryan Lister
Hi Josh,

As far as I'm aware, after the transfer service is enabled for an account,
the tables that are sent are automatically generated and there is no user
input allowing any changes.

The data gets transferred in everyday, so we get all the statistics broken
down by date (and by hour in the hourly reports - though they still update
daily).

A search impression share broken down by date is essential because if our
clients want to answer questions like "what was my search impression share
in the first 10 days of campaign A" they would select a 10 day window in
our reporting tool, which would then perform the calculations. But if one
of those 10 days includes a "<10%" then the calculation is invalid. However
in AdWords / Google Ads you can pick 10 days, or any date range you want,
and the search impressions share will still give you an average value -
even if one of those days was "<10%". I'm guessing this is because Google
Ads is using the true search impression share value, if it's 3% or 0.001%
why not just send that through?

I can't see any benefit of using the special value of "<10%", all it does
it limit the ability to make calculations. It might make sense in the UI
but not in the data from the API, it should be an option at least.

Thanks,
Ryan

Re: Adwords Transfer Service not sending usable search impression share data

2019-01-03 Thread Ryan Lister
Thanks for your reply Alexander, our previous workaround was to use values
of <10% as 5%. But this has led to wildly inaccurate numbers when
aggregating up, for example over a date range.
What would be ideal is to have the true value sent though, this way our
reporting would be close to what is being shown in the Google Ads UI

Adwords Transfer Service not sending usable search impression share data

2019-01-03 Thread Ryan Lister
Hi Support,

I am trying to build a reporting suite for AdWords by bringing the data
through to our BigQuery instance and linking it to an online dashboarding
tool.
The adwords data transfer service sends us the reports outlined here :
https://cloud.google.com/bigquery/docs/adwords-transformation

The problem is that the SearchImpressionShare metric has a special value
for when it is less than 10%, this is a text value of "<10%".
This makes it impossible to perform calculations on this measure, for
example finding the average search impression share over a given date range.

>From the attached image you can see that these aggregations are possible in
the web UI.

Is there anyway to get the true search impression share values sent through
instead of "<10%" so that I am able to replicate what is being shown in the
UI?

Thanks,
Ryan

Unable to Retrieve HeadlinePart3 and Description2 through AWQL (PHP v201809)

2018-11-22 Thread Ryan J
I'm working with the Adwords API and while I'm creating ads with
HeadlinePart3 and Description2's, I'm unable to fetch them with the API.

I've had this issue inside my app—which uses AWQL—as well as through the
example code found online for googleads/googleads-php-lib
GetExpandedTextAds.php
—which

uses the more formal Predicate methods.

For HeadlinePart3, the api throws:

Google\AdsApi\AdWords\v201809\cm\ApiException:
[SelectorError.INVALID_FIELD_NAME @ serviceSelector;
trigger:'HeadlinePart3']

For Description2, the api does not error but returns null.

It seems that when we run mutations on these AdGroupAds, we get the
information back—but are unable to fetch the information without making a
second call to disable, and re-enable ads.

I have confirmed through the GoogleAds interface that the ads have a
HeadlinePart3 and a Description2 set.

What is the minimum duration between uploading an offline conversion and subsequently uploading an adjustment for the conversion?

2018-10-10 Thread ryan
Hello,

I have recently started using the Adwords API OfflineConversionFeedService
to upload conversion data derived from clicks. Uploading conversions is
working as expected, but when I subsequently attempt to adjust a conversion
(ex. due to a purchase cancellation) using
the OfflineConversionAdjustmentFeedService I am being returned
OfflineConversionAdjustmentError.TOO_RECENT_CONVERSION. I am still seeing
this ~12 hours after uploading the conversion I am attempting to adjust.
This leads me to ask what is the minimum duration between uploading a
conversion and subsequently uploading an adjustment for the conversion?

Thanks!

Ryan

Are multiple predicates still applied as AND?

2018-06-19 Thread Ryan Allan
I read a post from 2012 from the adwords team stating all predicates in
video performace reports are applied as AND, without any option to combine
multiple predicates using some kind of OR.

Is this still the case?

And if so, is the preferred workaround to submit multiple requests, each
with its own set of AND predicates (and then combine/process the returned
results however I need to)?

Question on Permissions/Processes for 3rd parties accessing API

2018-06-18 Thread 'Kieran Ryan' via AdWords API and Google Ads API Forum
Hi all,

My agency (Publicis) had a query around the process/permissions for a 3rd
party (eg. Tealium) getting access to a developer token to make calls
against the API for accounts under the Agency's MCC.

I'm wondering is there a set process for 3P's to get this access to make
changes to accounts under an agency MCC, are there any legal ramifications
on agency side?

Google's previous response "*We don't grant end-advertiser developer tokens
to be used with 3P tools, it is not allowed via API Policy. Tealium should
reach out to us and obtain their own developer token for the connector
they're building. "*

- Is there any outline of this policy?

- Are there existing best practices for 3P's applying for the token?

Any help is much appreciated!

Best regards,

Kieran
Kieran

Re: setting up oauth2 client

2018-03-14 Thread Ryan
Solution: I needed to move my adwords_api.yml file to my home directory. I
had provided a local path to AdwordsApi::Api.new, and the file was reading
correctly, so it seems kinda odd that writing to a different place would
result in failure, but that appears to be what happened.

Perhaps a clue is the response I get from running the utility: "Hit Auth
error, please navigate to URL"

Why is it talking about an error while it's otherwise happily providing me
with the link?

Re: Cannot find AdWords API Center

2018-03-14 Thread Ryan
#2 did the trick, thanks!

Just as a sanity check for future readers: I was definitely not operating
in the test account, though I do switch between them so maybe some crossing
of the streams was going on. Regardless, I was looking at the manager
account (no red banner, clear "Manager" subheading under the account name),
but the Adwords API Center did not appear until I selected "Return to
previous AdWords".

setting up oauth2 client

2018-03-14 Thread Ryan
I'm following the instructions for setting up the adwords_api.yml
configuration file. I've added the client id and secret to it. I run
setup_oauth2.rb, get the access code, so far so good. I enter the access
code, the utility asks me if I want to save the token to the config file,
and I say yes. But when I look in the file that's generated, all it has is
an empty object {}.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Cannot find AdWords API Center

I'm also not seeing the link to the Adwords API Center in what I'm pretty
sure is my manager account. I do see Accounts on the left side, and under
my profile where accounts are also listed there's a grey Manager subheading
under the account I'm presently logged into.

Determine video ad format via API?

2018-03-04 Thread Ryan Allan
Is there a way to determine a selected ad's video ad format (e.g. In-steam,
Video discover, or Bumper) via API calls?

I currently get campaign performance data via API, but bumper ads' views
are actually reported as impressions (whereas In-stream or Video discovery
ads' views are reported as views, and their partial views are reported as
impressions), which messes up my custom API-driven reports.

If I was able to discern which campaigns were using bumper ads, I could
present the view data appropriately in my reports, but without a way to
know which is which this is currently not possible.

I looked through the performance report fields and didn't see anything that
looked like it would work, so is there a way to do this?

Unexpected reporting output from criteria report

2017-11-30 Thread ryan

I first posted this as an issue on the associated PHP library
 and was told this was
likely a more general API issue.

To recap, when I run GetCampaigns.php
,

our two campaigns output succesfully:

[2017-11-30 09:03:09] AW_SOAP.INFO: clientCustomerId=XXX-XXX- operations=1
service=CampaignService method=get responseTime=155
requestId=XX server=adwords.google.com isFault=0 faultMessage=
Campaign with ID and name ‘X’ was found.
Campaign with ID X and name ‘X’ was found.
Number of results found: 2

But when I run DownloadCriteriaReportWithSelector.php
,

I receive an empty report:

cat criteria-report-XX.csv

"Criteria performance report #XXX (Nov 22, 2017-Nov 28, 2017)"
Campaign ID,Ad group ID,Keyword ID,Keyword / Placement,Criteria
Type,Impressions,Clicks,Cost
Total, --, --, --, --,0,0,0

Why are these campaigns not included in this report?

OperationAccessDenied.ACTION_NOT_PERMITTED

2017-11-12 Thread Ryan
Hi everyone,

We have Basic access API key and we are trying to send an offline
conversion using

Google\AdsApi\AdWords\v201705\cm\OfflineConversionFeedService

but we get an error code

OperationAccessDenied.ACTION_NOT_PERMITTED

When we do other operations (e.g. get list of campaigns and their daily
budgets, we don't get any errors and everything seems to work fine).

Any idea why we would get this error? Are we not supposed to be able to
send offline conversions with our Basic Access?

Object IDs: API vs AdWords URLs

2017-09-12 Thread Ryan Aires
How are the IDs listed in URLs translated to the ID values returned by the
API?

For example, in the url for an account, an account is denoted with the
following: "&__c=7810563030", but the value shown in the UI (and API minus
the dashes) is: 475-959-0193.

We would like to be able to link to an account from our reporting tool but
don't know how to build URLs based off the API values we have.

Targeting Idea Service STATS Operations Count

2017-09-12 Thread 'Ryan' via AdWords API Forum
Hi all,

The Rate Limit documentation
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/ratesheet> shows up to
10,000 "operations" per day for a get request to the TargetingIdeaService.

Operation: get
Count: 100 targeting ideas
Service: TargetingIdeaService
Operations counted towards Daily Limit: 1

If we insert an array of 500 queries in a single get request using STATS
rather than IDEAS, would that be five operations or one operation as we
would be receiving 500 results with no additional targeting ideas being
returned.

Regards,

Ryan

Conversion Window Correction

2017-05-30 Thread Ryan Blecher

My understanding is that the Conversion Window is finalized is at a max of
90 days. Our application syncs reports nightly to account for the previous
day, but we need to account for conversion correction that take place much
further back than that.

   1. Are there better ways to do this than sync reports for the past 90
   days nightly and check if conversion counts are different each day?
   The discrepancy is most cases is < 1% and it seems inefficient to fetch
   data that is unchanged.

   2. Is there any way to bulk download reports for multiple users? ie.
   KeywordPerformanceReport for multiple campaigns.
   or can we get all the necessary reports for an account at once?

Locating MCC login with Google Client ID

2017-03-14 Thread ryan
@apiteam

Our developer who set up our adwords api access is no longer with the
company and we are trying to figure out which account he used to set up the
MCC for our adwords API access. I'm the admin on the account so I should
be able to get in once i know the right login, but I'm not sure what login
he used. Is there a way to find it from the google client ID used for
Oauth?  Thanks!

OAuthTokenGenerator.exe reports "Your browser is not supported anymore. Please update to a more recent one"

2016-08-03 Thread ryan
I've been following the instructions on
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/guides/first-api-call and
have gotten to the section titled "Get an OAuth2 refresh token and
configure your client". The instructions on
https://github.com/googleads/googleads-dotnet-lib/wiki/API-access-using-own-credentials-(installed-application-flow)#step-2---setting-up-the-client-library
 say
to use OAuthTokenGenerator.exe to generate the token. When I run the tool
and the web form opens, it redirects to a page that says "Your browser is
not supported anymore. Please update to a more recent one". I've tried this
on several computers (Win 8.1, Win 7). I've also tried making Chrome the
default browser but it still seems to open the web view in an IE control.

Not sure where to go from here. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks!

Feed Item Approval Speed

2016-06-01 Thread Ryan Tate
What kind of speed can expect feed items to be approved realistically?

I'm asking because the inventory the feed reflects is extremely time
sensitive. Optimally, I'd like feed items approved and displaying in my
ads in real-time. I plan to add, edit and delete items several thousands
times a day.

PHP Library - Can not set NetwordSearchParameter (Network Search Parameter, Network Setting)

2016-02-24 Thread ryan

Everything is working fine but when I try to set the NetworkSearchParameter
to only use Google Search results it doesn't seem to return the correct
values. It returns the number of searches from Google + Search Networks.

My code is:

$networkSearchParameter = new NetworkSearchParameter();
$networkSearchParameter->networkSetting = 'targetGoogleSearch';
$selector->searchParameters[] = $networkSearchParameter;

Also tried:

$networkSearchParameter = new NetworkSearchParameter();
$networkSetting = new NetworkSetting();
$networkSetting->targetGoogleSearch = true;
$networkSearchParameter->networkSetting = $networkSetting;
$selector->searchParameters[] = $networkSearchParameter;

And:
$networkSetting = new NetworkSetting();
$networkSetting->targetGoogleSearch = true;
$selector->networkSetting = $networkSetting

Is there something I am missing here? The documentation/examples on this
are unclear and this is for the TargetingIdeaService.

Thanks.

Keywords Performance Report isn't matching campaign report

2016-01-31 Thread Ryan C.
Hi All,

I'm using v201509 to fetching data from Adwords.

I found there has numbers not matching between keywords performance report
and campaign performance report.
At first, I thought that may be fetching too many keywords at the same
time, therefor, I fetching keywords by AdGroup one after another. But,
there are still got the same result.

Are there anyone has any suggestion to resolve this problem?

Attaches is my fetching result from two account, one is match, the other is
mismatch.

Thanks.

How to handle click fraud adjustments to costs and clicks?

2016-01-06 Thread Ryan Caplette
I have been downloading our companies campaign cost data for the previous
week, however over time I have noticed that googles number adjust
(presumably for click fraud).

I am wondering how I can use the adwords api to download information and
avoid the mismatch of data between our records and googles numbers.

Redownloading all of our cached data would be too time consuming, it would
be easier if there was a way to be informed of which information/days
changed.

Is there a time by which all click fraud adjustments are settled and
googles cost information is set in stone.

I found a link in another forum post about when googles adwords data is
considered "settled" however it only said that adjustments will be made to
click fraud (without provided a time period of when adjustments occur)

Thank you

Conversion Updating - Advanced Conversion Tracking

2015-10-26 Thread Ryan Blackman
I have a need to enhance my conversion reporting for multiple accounts.

So I have many lead-gen type campaigns. The user comes to landing page,
fills a form, a regular online conversion is reported to AdWords system
with no value. Simple, easy, standard.

However, these leads mature over time and begin to accumulate value. Lead
comes in, sales staff qualifies, sale is made, that lead now has a value.

So now I have the need to UPDATE the original valueless conversion to now
have a value. Normally we'd collect this information and upload offline
conversions but that won't work here. We have to track all form submits AND
the future values associated with them.

Obviously, this cannot be done with the interface or editor and the API is
the only solution.

I can't find any docs on an update-type function. Does something like this
exist? If not, what is the solution to be able to track conversions that
update values over time?

 Jason's earlier post summed up the issue quite well. The character length

 I could change our ads such that they only use 24 characters max in the

 render quite happily with 25 characters for the sake of the odd one that
 doesn't, so its not ideal for us.

 If you think about it, Google really only has so many options here.

 They cannot provide limits like each lime must render within 300px but
 they have to provide some kind of limit.

 They also cannot allow lines to wrap because it would make the ad look
 unprofessional.

 I feel like the character limit is a good guideline, but they still have
 to gracefully fail when an ad would render incorrectly.

 I would say if you run into this problem with real world text lines, you
 should probably just subtract two characters from the limit and use that as
 your guideline when using ad params.

Parameter reverting to default due to line length, despite being under character limit

2014-06-20 Thread Ryan Gough
Hi,

I've noticed that in some situations, the default value of my parameter is
showing even when a value has been supplied and no line character limits
are being broken.

After some experimentation, I've seen that it relates to the actual width
of the headline, rather than the number of characters.

So for example when my ad headline was Abcdefg 1234567 {param1:Cheap}
and the price parameter was £2349 then the ad displayed the default value
Cheap, but if I change it to Abcdefg ABCD1234567 {param1:Cheap} then
the supplied parameter value £2349 was shown.

I guess my question is - is this deliberate? I have not seen anything in
the docs that says this is the case, everything seems to talk about
character limits not the real length of the headline. This seems to make
the job of generating ads that will display correctly much more complicated.

Thanks,
Ryan

Re: Parameter reverting to default due to line length, despite being under character limit

2014-06-20 Thread Ryan Gough
Oh I appreciate that there is not an easy solution, just wanted to
clarify that what I had observed is correct.

I could change our ads such that they only use 24 characters max in the
headline, but that would then mean changing the copy of lots of ads that
render quite happily with 25 characters for the sake of the odd one that
doesn't, so its not ideal for us.

On Friday, June 20, 2014 1:37:32 PM UTC+1, Jason Stedman wrote:

 If you think about it, Google really only has so many options here.

 They cannot provide limits like each lime must render within 300px but
 they have to provide some kind of limit.

 They also cannot allow lines to wrap because it would make the ad look
 unprofessional.

 I feel like the character limit is a good guideline, but they still have
 to gracefully fail when an ad would render incorrectly.

 I would say if you run into this problem with real world text lines, you
 should probably just subtract two characters from the limit and use that as
 your guideline when using ad params.

Re: Getting campaigns and campaign stats for managed clients

2014-05-08 Thread Ryan England
Hi Ray,

Again, thanks for your reply and your clear instruction. I believe the
SetClientId may have come from a much older code sample, so old in fact,
that the code examples aren't online any longer (perhaps v20110X).

Unfortunately, I have changed this to SetCustomerClientId and am still
getting the same blank feed - it still doesn't seem to recognise the
campaigns for that client. My code is below:

$user-SetCustomerClientId($account-customerId);
$campaignService = $user-GetService('CampaignService', 'v201309');
$selector = new Selector();
$selector-fields = array('Id', 'Name','Period','Status');
$selector-ordering[] = new OrderBy('Name', 'ASCENDING');
$selector-dateRange = new DateRange($startDate, $endDate);
$page = $campaignService-get($selector);

What's my best next step?

Cheers,

Ryan

Getting campaigns and campaign stats for managed clients

2014-04-28 Thread Ryan England
Hi guys,

I'm having trouble generating an XML feed using PHP and the Adwords API of
our MCC clients, their campaigns, and then subsequently each campaign's
stats. I had this working correctly with v201302, however it appears that
in the upgrade to v201309, something somewhere has been changed and this
code no longer works.

At the moment, I'm using the ManagedCustomerService to create the list of
CustomerId, and then iterating through that list to output the Campaigns
and using a Criteria Report to grab the stats, the code is below:

$clientService = $user-GetService('ManagedCustomerService', 'v201309');

$selector = new Selector();

// Specify the fields to retrieve.
$selector-fields = array('CustomerId');

$accounts = $clientService-get($selector);

echo ?xml version=\1.0\ encoding=\UTF-8\?\n;
echo clients\n;

foreach ($accounts-entries as $key=$account) {

if (empty($clientId) || (!empty($clientId)  $account-customerId ==
$clientId)) {

echo \tclient id=\.$account-customerId.\
name=\.str_replace('','amp;',$account-companyName).\\n;
echo \t\tcampaigns\n;

$user-SetClientId($account-customerId);

$campaignService = $user-GetService('CampaignService', 'v201309');
 $selector = new Selector();
$selector-fields = array('Name');
$selector-paging = new Paging(0, 30);

$page = $campaignService-get($selector);

if(isset($page-entries)){

foreach ($page-entries as $campaign) {

if($campaign-status == 'ACTIVE'  $campaign-budget-period == 'DAILY') {

$campaign-campaignStats = DownloadCriteriaReportExample($user,
$campaign-id, $startDate, $endDate);

$cost = $campaign-campaignStats-cost-microAmount/100;
$clicks = $campaign-campaignStats-conversions;
$impressions = $campaign-campaignStats-impressions;

if(0  $impressions || '' != $impressions){

echo \t\t\tcampaign\n;
echo \t\t\t\tid.$campaign-id./id\n;
echo
\t\t\t\ttitle.str_replace('','amp;',$campaign-name)./title\n;
echo \t\t\t\tspend£.$cost./spend\n;
echo \t\t\t\tconvPerClick.$clicks./convPerClick\n;
echo \t\t\t\timpressions.$impressions./impressions\n;
echo \t\t\t/campaign\n;

}

$res .= ob_get_contents();

ob_flush(); flush(); ob_end_flush();

ob_start();

}

}

}

echo \t\t/campaigns\n;
echo \t/client\n;

}

}

echo /clients\n;

The above outputs simply:

clients
client id=304XXX name=
campaigns/campaigns
/client
client id=987XXX name=
campaigns/campaigns
/client
client id=198XXX name=
campaigns/campaigns
/client
client id=441XXX name=
campaigns/campaigns
/client
client id=434XXX name=
campaigns/campaigns
/client
/clients

So it looks like it's finding the clients, but not the campaigns under each
client. Could you help diagnose what the issue is here?

Many thanks,

Ryan

Single Product Targets for PLA's - Not Working

2013-05-22 Thread Rob Ryan
I posted this as well on the adwords forum but I will post it here as I am
sure it is a situation someone using the API to automate product level
adgroups for PLA's would come across.

We have setup a campaign which matches targets to adgroups on the
adwords_grouping parameter.

We have adwords_grouping groups in the campaign which are displaying fine.

The ones that aren't working are the single product groups. For some
products in our feed we want 1 product per adgroup, in these cases the
adwords_grouping field contains our product ID. In adwords clicking
validate confirms that the target is matching at least one product in the
feed, although over 1000's of these and a few weeks there has not been a
single impression.

What we are wondering, is this a bug? intended behaviour? or are we doing
something wrong?

Thanks.

Required Minimum Functionality question.

2012-11-03 Thread Ryan Detzel
I'm a little confused by the required minimum functionality section so
please tell me if I have this correct.

If I plan on using the tool for my business only it's an internal tool and
it doesn't need to provide all of the min functionality features but if one
client can use any part of my product that uses that API I have to
implement all of the required features outlined?

Currently my tool is focused just on bid optimizations and very little
campaign/ad group functionality is built but I want to allow potential
clients access to this bid tool. Would I have to build all of those
required functions into my app to allow this?

How will Google announce the API sunset actually happen?

2012-03-01 Thread Christopher Ryan
Will Google announce that the API sunset actually happen?

Can we get a confirmation so that the QA team can monitor the logs for any
issues related to the new API.

Thanks,

MutateJobService Operations

2012-01-12 Thread Ryan M
While switching our old api code over to the newest api I was looking at
using the MutateJobService to replace our old BulkMutateJobs.
Is there a minimum number of operations you must have when creating a batch
or could I run, for example, only 5 bid updates in a job?
Would it make more sense to run only an x sized set of updates with the
MutateJobService and then apply all of the other small mutate jobs
seperately? What would that x number be?

Re: MutateJobService Operations

2012-01-12 Thread Ryan M
Also, some of the code examples were removed when the php library v201109
examples were updated. For example the PerformMutateJob and
PerformBulkMutateJob examples. Should I still be using those as examples or
is there a problem with them? (Or did I just not see where they were placed)

Re: v13: ReportService 405 HTTP method POST is not supported by this URL

2012-01-11 Thread Ryan M
I was using the v13 Reporting
URL https://adwords.google.com/api/adwords/v13. I have 2 reports that have
been failing. They are both AdGroup Performance Reports. I think it is a
null issue for me at this point as I have almost completely completed
rewriting our tool to use the latest api and have patched in the code from
the new reports back to the old ones until we complete our switch.

Thanks for the Reply

v13: ReportService 405 HTTP method POST is not supported by this URL

2012-01-04 Thread Ryan M
I have received the following error when trying to run reports against the
v13 ReportService:
405 HTTP method POST is not supported by this URL
This began happening on Jan 3rd, 2012. The last working data
I received was data from the 1st of January.

I have not made any changes to the reporting code on my end as I am working
on re-writing the code to use the newest api.
Is there something that has changed recently to the v13 Reporting that I
need to make a change on my end in order to make it work until the end of
February.

Re: Regarding api units for ReportDefinitionService and adhoc reports

2011-10-31 Thread Rob Ryan
The blog says that the reporting is free providing you use the new ad hoc
reporting method.
http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/docs/reportingtopics.html#adhoc

The current ones will be changed 400 credits when you first create them and
no additional change when you reuse the same report definition id to
generate a new report.

Re: OAuth - didn't see it mentioned so I thought I'd ask

2011-10-12 Thread Rob Ryan
Are we able to get a code sample using OAuth? As I see from the Java code
these reports are free of charge correct?
Only key thing I can think of not supported that would be great after this
is being able to read the account currency and timezone in the
ServicedAccountService.

Re: Client Authentication, What would you suggest?

2011-07-04 Thread Rob Ryan
Any plans to add the authorization process to the API?
Really we would just be using it as a stop gap until report downloads
are available through OAuth as the OAuth system is a lot nicer to use and
much better for this authorization stuff. Looks like the
manual authorization might be the best way to go for now.

Client Authentication, What would you suggest?

2011-06-26 Thread Rob Ryan
Currently with OAuth not being a complete option and it being seemly
impossible to automatically send out a request to join an MCC (although I
know some services do it so any pointers in the right direction on how to do
this would be great) it seems the only option for something automated is to
collect the users email and password for their adwords accounts. Is this the
current best practises way people are doing this?

Re: OAuth support - please finish the job

2011-06-08 Thread Rob Ryan
I second this,
I just don't get why all the effort was gone to allow OAuth access to pretty
much everything else in the API then to have probably over half the use
cases requiring an additional authentication method. I went down the OAuth
path well over 6 months ago thinking that by the time it was exposed to
customers these initial issues would be well in the past. Now I will have to
implement a second method.
I realise that you have no power over this one Eric, would be great though
to get a timeline from those who do or at least this is on the backburner
because... explanation.
Thanks.
Rob

ServicedAccountService account currency and timezone

2011-04-03 Thread Rob Ryan
I am a little confused with the currency and timezone fields that have been
added into accounts retrieved with the ServicedAccountService.
Are these fields only available to write to during account creation and not
to be read back out?
If this is the case when can we expect to be able to retrieve account
timezone and currency, if this isn't the case what am I doing wrong
currently not to get them.

Thanks.

Re: DownloadReport API Cost

2011-03-15 Thread Rob Ryan
Currently it is 400 to make a report definition, which you get an id
returned to you, calling this id gives no additional cost, so if you set up
a report with a non static timescale it's essentially free ongoing.
