[AFMUG] site inverter +48

2018-03-27 Thread TJ Trout
Looking for a inverter with pure/true sine that's rack mountable with a
auto transfer switch, the only problem is I think most of these have
charging systems, if your already using a DC supply to float the batteries,
how do you handle this? Remove the DC supply? Put a large capacity diode on
the inverter's battery connection? Run separate batteries?

Thanks

TJ

2018-03-27 Thread George Skorup
You'll typically see GPS use standard SMA, not RP-SMA, if only to
differentiate GPS and RF outputs. Cambium ePMP APs are this way. We also
use some CDMA to POTS boxes that are set up this way as well.

I've also seen some GPS-disciplined 2-way simulcast oscillators use BNC.
Most techs/installers typically convert that to N anyway and use LMR-400
or 1/2" hard-line out to the antenna.

So my vote would be N because it's common and easy.

But we have to cable it to an outside antenna.  So, the installers
will most likely have to terminate the cable.
BNC, N, F, SMA, Mini UHF, UHF, lotsa options.
What does the CMM family use for antennas and connectors?

I have done N to SMA adapter on two jobs where antenna had N connectors.
But most of the GPS antennas install in vehicle for tracking or 4G LTE
mobile NVRs have been SMA.

SNMP over ethernet?

Something non-rack mountable and that doesn't require external batteries?

Everything I find wants to be monitored through USB with proprietary

I lived in a small town just South of The Dalles. Got poisoned at a drive

and must have somehow got some of the lettuce from the salad bar on my

Most APC’s can be monitored over USP through a Mikrotik router (anyone
with a USB port).  That is what we do for out smaller site, in-fact we
usually add external batteries for longer runtime.

He could shave 150lbs off the weight and just launch a camera instead of
himself. Then he could devote the extra weight to fuel. Maybe instead

straight up and then he could recover the camera after the flight.

Re: [AFMUG] Cambium LTE

2018-03-27 Thread Mark Radabaugh
LTE has some characteristics that are desirable from a operation in NLOS and
difficult conditions and there is certainly a desire in the market to have a
non-proprietary solution available for the customers who require that. Some
WISP’s are much more of a investment vehicle and looking to outside financing
or acquisition than others. Investors don’t like single supplier solutions and
it’s difficult to explain the value to them.

On the other hand if you want a best in class product for LOS environments and
are less concerned about the investment value and more concerned about
performance and quality service the proprietary solutions can be a better
answer.

Cambium’s just trying to make sure they have a product for both types of
customers.

good. Otherwise, your gear rocks and I appreciate it all.

 Top left I believe.

The default is -4/5 +7/8 and PowerA input on all four ports. So if you
just plugged it in without any jumper changes, then you're pretty much
trying to put ~1.5A on a single pair (one pair positive, the other return).
 That's probably ungood.

Jumper the other two pairs so you get -4/5 +7/8 -1/2 +3/6. Try the SS
again and see if the port trips.

2018-03-27 Thread Cameron Crum
That is true, but most use a script like this or similar in a MT router (PC
BMU) to accomplish it. So even if you have one of those systems, you still
need a way to redirect people in the router. At least with this, it will be
one less step to configure when he makes the change ;)

Here is a MT script to set up the web proxy redirect. Obviously you
will need to change the urls in the last section under /ip proxy address.
This script takes anything in the 'suspended' address list and redirects
port 80 traffic to whatever you put in place of myportal.com. You also
need to match the ip range at the bottom to whatever ip range you are
handing out to your customers. You can add as many of that last rule as you
need to cover all your ranges. As for the ssh script, it should be easy
enough to write a simple script to ssh in and launch one of these:

  /ip firewall address-list add address=x.x.x.x list=suspended

 and to remove

 /ip firewall address-list remove [find address=x.x.x.x]

The web proxy set up script is this (only run this one time, then move
all the rules to the top of their respective firewall sections):

 add action=accept chain=input comment=\
"Allow Proxy - redirect suspended users - this and then next five
rules should be at the top of the filter list" disabled=no dst-port=16099 \

add action=redirect chain=dstnat comment="Redirect Nat Rule for suspend
users - put this rule at the top of the list " disabled=no dst-port=80 \
