Friends, In reply to my previous yesterday's mail, nobody has so
far provided me the details of any training institute providing
computer training to the blind in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, so, I again
humbly request you all to please either provide me the requested
information or contact details of Shri Atul Sahai as Mr. Srinivas has

Hi
There is 1 short coming if it bothers someone, the audio can be heard by
persons in close proximity unlike conventional headphone.
I would also second it if one is forced to use headphone with heavy use, then
this is a better option.

In general the best one for people who wear headphone for long periods is the

It is bone conduction technology. You can search and order it from Amazon.
It is expensive but worth the price.

Hi all,
Need recommendations for a Bluetooth headset for iPhone S e.
- While it should have good audio quality as well as good transmission for the
other person to hear, not sure if the headset can also be used to listen to
music/audio content
- Are there Bluetooth headsets available for both the ears but detached from
each other, in other words which is not a headphone/neckphone? The idea is to
use one ear piece for conversations, and use both the ear pieces when listening
to music/audio content.

Any experiential recommendations would really help.

Running an institution is a huge responsibility. The management has to be
constantly alert and alive to possible slips.

On the other hand freedom of speech too is a huge responsibility. While
things have to be spoken out, there is need for a degree of maturity and
sensitivity.

I think some of us have miss understood the statement from Mr. Prashant.

The point was only to restrict the discussion so that identity of the
victims is not revealed.

I quote below:

The incident reported in the newspapers and by Radio Udaan is under the
POCSO act where people are forbidden to reveal anything which could lead to
the identity of the victims.

The statement does not say stop or bar the discussion.

I don't think anybody would object to informed discussion about possible
ways to fix the systems so that similar incidences do not happen. Besides,
it is also important that we do not spread information without proof.

Incidents like this happen unfortunately. You can tighten your security etc

Much harassment will be doled out to the alleged accused but the same
harassment will be doled out in greater measure to your organisation and its

Of course! This incident is quite unfortunate & should be condemned by
everyone. Management should have rearn a lesson by this bad incident and
should be taken appropriate stepps to avoid these incident in future because in
my openion, this incident could take place only because of security lepses on
their end. but Fully agree with Manocha ji. Noone should have permited to give
any statement in front of media at all. If someone do like this without
prepermission of management, appropriate action should have taken against
him/her.
As I already mentioned in my previous mail, its not good for the image of the
institution as well. The case has already been handed over to the police, so
let them do their investigation and wait for the result.

Do you really feel that children should be facing mainstream media in such
cases?

The media itself is more sensitive than what is been said here. They
themselves know that they are not supposed to be speaking to minors and putting

Please stop spreading rumors based on so called reliable sources or baseless

Re: [Ai] Restrict discussion on the NAB Delhi incident

2017-09-07 Thread SC Vashishth via Ai
Thanks Dipendra ji for butting in. How misinformed we are! Minors are never
exposed to media. There are SOPs to record their statements before the
judge in a child friendly environment under the law.

Targetting individuals and bashing of organisation won't help. I feel this
incident has been handled in most professional manner. Even when kids
didn't feel it was any abuse, the organisation has taken a right step of
registering an FIR and bringing the culprit to book. We all need to standby
them to see that law take its course and case is followed up till it
reaches its logical conclusion!

Dear Siddalingeshwar

Actually due to some technical problem you received link with IP address. If
user replaced IP address in the download link with "library.daisyindia.org"
and then pasted it in address bar or IDM then it will work.

We are getting this bug fixed through the developers. Meanwhile follow above
instructions to download.

Thanks

It is bone conduction technology. You can search and order it from Amazon.

Hi all,
Need recommendations for a Bluetooth headset for iPhone S e.
- While it should have good audio quality as well as good transmission for
the other person to hear, not sure if the headset can also be used to listen
to music/audio content
- Are there Bluetooth headsets available for both the ears but detached from
each other, in other words which is not a headphone/neckphone? The idea is
to use one ear piece for conversations, and use both the ear pieces when
listening to music/audio content.

Any experiential recommendations would really help.

Thanks,

  Sarinji

I do not think the discussion should be closed. Even if we close it on
accessindia the press will still carry it and Avinash and others will copy it
for us.

I however think that the reporting to the police has been a good step.

I also think that my advice to Prashant that he must track the matter is
sound advice.NAB Delhi is going to be harassed by many and we in the sector
must atleast criticise only after knowing facts.

Now the next set of problems who will you protect the kids from and to what
extent?

Avinash has listed out a few recent incidents. There are many more.

Who do you trust- Trustees, management, staff, family members, volunteers,
politicians, police, seniors from the same sex or from the opposite sex.
Everyone can be suspect and we have to guard against everyone. These crimes
donot get committed completely by one person. Therefore I had mentioned an
insider accomplice. Management cannot be blamed unless it is directly
involved. If management has taken precaution as much as a prudent man would
have then we cannot blame management.

In many cases the parties have hushed up matters -this is detrimental to
everyone.

But blaming anyone before investigation is over is wrong.

Prashant,

Most NGOs hide such incidents therefore we are proud of you for taking the
right steps.

Maybe other NGOs will learn and our faith in the system will be revived.

Incidents like this happen unfortunately. You can tighten your security etc
but this can happen again.

Much harassment will be doled out to the alleged accused but the same
harassment will be doled out in greater measure to your organisation and its
staff and members first. Unfortunately this is how the legal system works in
India.

Please keep a track of the matter because if you don't the matter will slip
under the carpet. This will take some time to end.

You will need to track the police.

Many in this group have a connection direct or indirect with NAB Delhi and
would like to keep a track of the newspaper reports etc.

Yes no names must or should be revealed.

We are with you please go the whole hog even if there is someone from
inside who is going to be implicated as an accomplice.

Dear Harish,

The incident reported in the newspapers and by Radio Udaan is under the
POCSO act where peple are forbidden to reveal anything which could lead to the
identity of the victims.

The way peple discuss things on the AI list, I am afraid it could invite
legal action by the police.

So, please do not allow this to go through. I am ofcourse availableto

Yesterday Radio Udaan has done a very disturbing show on this already and
they got lot of complains already.

Of course! this is not good for the reputation of the institution at all. Now,
the case has already been handed over to the police and they know, how to deal
with the case. I am sure! it'll give a very bad signal to the donars as well.
Everyone of us know, no such institutions can run without public support, so
let them do their work.

Dear all

NAB Delhi appreciates concerns related to safety of students studying in
institutions. Be rest assured that we are more concerned about safety of our
students than anyone else in this world. Do notice this fact that the
incident was not reported by any student but was caught by the vigilant
staff of the institution itself. This has happened due to various measures
put in place by NAB Delhi for this purpose. Strong evidence against this
crime too is a result of several measures taken by the institution in past
many years. Many advised us that we should hush this matter and not file FIR
against the person. However. Taking bold step of going to the police and
reporting about this and not trying to hide such incident is testimony about
our commitment to fight against this menace.

Right now law is taking its due course. All investigations, introspections
after a shocking incident like this and deriving learnings from this are all
happening.

Over all, we have seen solidarity from all sides and assistance is offered
to us so that we are not left alone in taking this fight to its conclusion.

I feel and so do many of the supporters that this is time to stand in
solidarity and make sure it should be the criminals who should feel scared
and not the ones who take the courageous step of bringing such matters to
light.

Be rest assured that as per its standing of past 40 years, Nab Delhi will
uphold its values and continue to bring about revolutionary changes for the
betterment of persons with blindness. We are determined to emerge stronger
from this adversity too.

Do not forget that often child abuse happens by most trusted members of
family or friends and this is what has happened to us too. This kind of
betrayal has shocked us and pained us to no end. I sincerely hope that we
will get support from the community to fight against child abusers and not
start getting victimized by the community itself.

Our responses to these discussions will be slow to come by as we are busy in
investigations, providing adequate support and counseling of students after
coming into light of such incident, following up with the police case and
dealing with mainstream media in addition to the regular work of the
institution.

Thanks

As we lambast government for its failure, So we have equal rights to dwell
deep into wrong-doing in the NGO sector also. They afterall seek money in
the name of blind people's welfare. The recent incedent which surfaced at
National Association for the blind Delhi is just a tip of the iceberg. Over
the last two years the sexual assaults faced by children and female
residents have been widely reported in the media.
I remember, the female students at NAB Bangalore complaint harassment
against the NAB Bangalore officials, and the Karnataka CCPD took some
action after being pressured by the civil society. The Panch Koyaan school
in Delhi which is also known as 'andh Maha vidyalay' was also in the news
recently where scenior students continued abusing junior students sexually
for years and the administration of the school took no action. I also
remember couple of years back, A reporter working with Manorma magazine has
brought forth the issue of sexual assaults faced by women residents at Sant
Nagar hostel by the donors and the administration didn't barred donors from
visiting hostels.
notwithstanding the unreported harassments which go unnoticed in hostels
where blind children/female students reside, The above cited case studies
paint a very scary portrayal of insecure atmosphere which impede the overall
development of blind children. Donation is the key to sustaining these
institutions but putting at stake the psychological and physical well-being
of young students raises several burning questions about day-to-day
functioning of such institutions.

Dear Danish and Radio Udaan,

Why don't you expose the person and Organization who has threaten you over
the phone for conducting the show on Radio.
This is a serious matter and needs more focus as threatening over the
phone is itself a crime.

I am surprised indirectly some people are trying to make other bloggers of
this list afraid by giving legal worning and refraining the discussion as
a whole.

Radio Udaan has also revealed many positive and good things about various
NGO's in previously broadcasted shows, why those organizations have not
raised any question then and why Radio Udaan was not rewarded for that
work if today we are talking about the legal actions to be taken against a
media mode like Radio udaan.

Every matter for every indivisual or group is sensitive and couple of
weeks back a large number of the subscriber of this list have discussed an
issue related to rape by ablind accused, why this discussion was not
interupted? Was that matter not sensitive for the said accused?
How we can be selective about what sensitive matter is to be discussed or
what not.

Let's try to resolve every issue by accepting the pits and falls and do
not try to divert from the main cause of concern

And please also do not try to stop the voices in the name of legal
worning. The doors of law are open to everyone and lawyers are available
to every citizen of India.

this entire issue was already brought under public domain by various media
channels.

It would have been nice if one could simply say that we are working
towards this matter and we would require the support from all of you but
unfortunately some members are being threaten or worned. This is not a
right message.

This would be my final message unless we receive any unsolicited or
threatening response.

Official statement of Radioudaan pertaining to the discussion on
latest incident in Nab Delhi
Dear all,
Greetings from Radio Udaan
We, radioudaan, a disability community radio work only and only for
community and talk about improving the conditions of brothers and
sisters in the community. Recently we had conducted a discussion on
the molestation case which took place in NAB, Delhi. Since there are
so many rumors which r floating around and in this regard we have come
up with our official statement to clear the air. We have got many
feedback with respect to the discussion we had last evening and many r
very happy to see us raise this topic as best as we could. On the
other hand also we got many complaints from many organizations who r
very disturbed with our reporting. Also a few individuals also
complained on the coverage.
Radio Udaan is a very responsible station and we take full
responsibility on our coverage. We quote Mr. Prashant Ranjan Verma who
has written the following statement on a social platform.,
(The incident reported in the newspapers and by Radio Udaan is under

and they got lot of complains already.

We would also like to clarify that we take full responsibility and are
ready to face any legal action with regards to our show. As far as the
statement of Mr. Verma that Radio Udaan has done a very disturbing
show and we have got a lot of complaints for that we would like to
clarify that we have got just one complaint which was more of a
threatening call rather than being a complaint.
In India we have right to speak so we cannot stop anyone from
presenting their views and as per the revealing of identity is

show and we have posted a statement on you tube also. This statement

Only one technical correction for you-
When like in this case the police has arrested or someone has said a crime has
occurred the person who is supposed to have committed the crime is called "The
Accused" He is presumed innocent until guilty.
In the other case which we were discussing last week-rape of a blind woman, The
court had held the man guilty of committing a crime therefore "a criminal".
Even this is not finished the man may have appealed and may be acquitted as
innocent or the lower court order confirmed and therefore a criminal. This
story ends when he stops appealing or the Supreme Court finally decides.
Thought I should clarify the difference.

Don’t know anything about the show so not commenting.

Dear Danish and Radio Udaan,

Why don't you expose the person and Organization who has threaten you over the
phone for conducting the show on Radio.
This is a serious matter and needs more focus as threatening over the phone is
itself a crime.

I am surprised indirectly some people are trying to make other bloggers of this
list afraid by giving legal worning and refraining the discussion as a whole.

Radio Udaan has also revealed many positive and good things about various NGO's
in previously broadcasted shows, why those organizations have not raised any
question then and why Radio Udaan was not rewarded for that work if today we
are talking about the legal actions to be taken against a media mode like Radio
udaan.

Every matter for every indivisual or group is sensitive and couple of weeks
back a large number of the subscriber of this list have discussed an issue
related to rape by ablind accused, why this discussion was not interupted?
Was that matter not sensitive for the said accused?
How we can be selective about what sensitive matter is to be discussed or what
not.

Let's try to resolve every issue by accepting the pits and falls and do not try
to divert from the main cause of concern

And please also do not try to stop the voices in the name of legal worning.
The doors of law are open to everyone and lawyers are available to every
citizen of India.

this entire issue was already brought under public domain by various media
channels.

It would have been nice if one could simply say that we are working towards
this matter and we would require the support from all of you but unfortunately
some members are being threaten or worned. This is not a right message.

This would be my final message unless we receive any unsolicited or threatening
response.

Thanks,

Dear amit Bhai, you are absolutely right but as far as names are
concerned we didn’t want to give cheap publicity to jokers and stupid
persons of the community
who are trying to threaten us and make us keep quiet as we will not be
diverted from our main objective of serving the community.

The second major issue is that we are just shocked to notice that the
so called disability rights activists of the community who talk about
raising issues
of females and community are quiet on this crucial matter.

And third and most important thing is that organizations are
threatening us for raising the crucial issue but all the leaders of
the community are numb
on this or they don’t have guts to come and condemn the people who are
creating mess and trying to make us keep quiet…
We have also noticed that most of our female’s activists who calls
themselves sexual and disability activist choose to stay mum on this
important issue.

Official statement of Radioudaan pertaining to the discussion on
latest incident in Nab Delhi
Dear all,
Greetings from Radio Udaan
We, radioudaan, a disability community radio work only and only for

the molestation case which took place in NAB, Delhi. Since there are

So, please do not allow this to go through. I am of course available

In India we have right to speak so we cannot stop anyone from
presenting their views and as per the revealing of identity is

show and we have posted a statement on you tube also. This statement
is given by our general secretary Mr. Danish mahajan and one can
easily listen to it by typing radioudaan statement on latest
discussion on incident in NAB delhi.

Whenever in future we will do such a show organizations will get
disturbed with our coverage and this is bound to happen as such
incidents are very disturbing in nature but we will continue to do
such shows and make people disturbed. We are very happy that our
reporting and coverage make some people get disturbed and we also hope

I think the only concern right now in the mind of NAB should be the victims
and their emotional balance and that of other kids. Rest has been done with the
police complaint.

It should just be a road map for other organizations to keep a check on
visitors. And there's no room for slain and slander here. The case details have
been given to police and media.

Some discussion at Radio udaan did go out of sync yesterday and was not
required. It's a sensitive issue and let's handle it sensitively for the
benefit of the kids.

Our objective to have been on the show was to take a direction forward for
society to be more aware and not for blame game.

While such shows are important, they must be handled in a more planned
approach.

NAB shall make plans to empower itself with better policies to secure kids
even further in the wake of the changing face of society.

I think antecedents of volunteers also must be checked.
However, not checking antecedents is different from deliberately allowing bad
people to come in and volunteer.
Whatever, management should learn lessons for future.

Prashant Ranjan Verma who
has written the following statement on a social platform.,
(The incident reported in the newspapers and by Radio Udaan is under
the POCSO act where people are forbidden to reveal anything which
could lead to the
Identity of the victims.
The way people discuss things on the AI list, I am afraid it could
invite legal action by the police.
So, please do not allow this to go through. I am of course available
to answer questions on phone or personal email.
Yesterday Radio Udaan has done a very disturbing show on this already
and they got lot of complains already.
Thanks,
Prashant Verma)

We would also like to clarify that we take full responsibility and are
ready to face any legal action with regards to our show. As far as the
statement of Mr. Verma that Radio Udaan has done a very disturbing
show and we have got a lot of complaints for that we would like to
clarify that we have got just one complaint which was more of a
threatening call rather than being a complaint.
In India we have right to speak so we cannot stop anyone from
presenting their views and as per the revealing of identity is
concerned we have already removed the objectionable stuff from the
show and we have posted a statement on you tube also.

We are very happy that our
reporting and coverage make some people get disturbed and we also hope
that bringing such incidents to light will make a better environment
for us all in the society.
We request all the organizations that instead of stopping us they must
improve the environment in their circle
That would help us to cover positive news and make the society aware
of some new improvements in the community.
Whatever the consequences may be we will work for our community and
will keep on talking about all the positives and negatives openly…
Here are the you tube links of show of discussion and official
statement by radio udaan.

institutions in a longer run. Why not to talk about the dilemma of the

We are with you please go the whole hog even if there is someone from inside
who is going to be implicated as an accomplice.
