How to Embed lyx within an app

2023-04-08 Thread Zero Infinity
How to Embed lyx within an app?

I am not familiar with how lyx works and have never tried embedding part of
one app within another.

I would like to write Latex equations and have them rendered in real time
as in Lyx within a local webpage on a browser. Perhaps the project might
turn to an Electron app.

Ideally I would like to use just the wysiwym engine behind Lyx but I
imagine that that's not easy to extract so maybe I would add all of Lyx as
a dependency in the project and embed it to the app somehow if that's
possible.

My question is then, is that feasible and if yes would you happen to have
any broad guidelines from your knowledge of the inner workings of Lyx ?

The goal is to construct a new front end for Wolfram Mathematica notebooks
using the browser. Basically similar to a Jupyter notebook on the browser.

How to Embed lyx within an app

2023-03-02 Thread Zero Infinity
I am interested in embedding lyx within an app. I would like to use the lyx
wysiwym to make latex that I then feed to the wolfram engine for
computation.

Ideally I would like to use just the wysiwym engine behind lyx but I
imagine that that's not easy to extract so maybe I would add lyx as a
dependency and embed it within the app if that's possible.

Thank you for any clarifications,

[beagleboard] autonomous boat project

2015-08-20 Thread jgm . infinity
We are hoping to use the beaglebone black on a project with 10 small
autonomous boats with about 1 Watt-hour lot of onboard battery power
(mostly used for propulsion). We need to stream audio data up to 30 kHz
from each boat via local wifi and also send instructions to the propulsion
units on the boat. If anyone has ideas, experience, or references on how to
get started or the suitability of the beaglebone black for this project, we
would be most grateful. We have funding and would love to collaborate with
anyone on this project.

Best,
Greg

Re: [address-policy-wg] Transfer Requirements for IPv4 Allocations

2015-04-25 Thread Infinity Telecom SRL
Hello Gert,

We can stop this discuss, yes.

But not the RIPE NCC will be the winner here, Elvis and his guys (sellers)
should start this proposal:

- returned not used space.
- put a tax on each IP, LIR with no used IP, will be forced to return IPs or
just sell quickly at a lower price..

Thank you.

Hello Daniel,

Finally, someone said the word !

 Why Elvis, a well know IP Broker from V4Escrow, proposed this instead of
Unused space should be returned to RIPE???

Thank you !

Hello Matyas,

Same as how some LIRs got their (still unused) large swaths of netblocks
in the first place.

Yes, they are at the base of today IP marketplace, the list of transfer its

[address-policy-wg] Transfer Requirements for IPv4 Allocations

2015-04-23 Thread Infinity Telecom SRL
Hello,

If this proposal will be accepted:
https://www.ripe.net/participate/policies/proposals/2015-01

The price per IP found at IPv4 Transfer Listing Service will be double or
even worst.

Little companies will be out of business.. and we will be one of them.

To pay double or even more for some spammed IP.. its not a good choice.. only
because smart guys with no real internet business hold very large blocks

This proposal should have more time, its not like any other proposal, this can
affect activity for a lot of small companies.

Thank you.

Re: [address-policy-wg] Transfer Requirements for IPv4 Allocations

2015-04-23 Thread Infinity Telecom SRL
Hello Opteamax,

BTW about stolen, lets look at transfer list and see companies that have /16
/17 /18  blocks

Do you think they ever could explain, so much resources ?

In their case, internet activity its very tiny or absent.. but they hold large
and very large blocks.

How many of them with /16 /17 blocks for sell was ever present in any IX
(internet exchange) for example..

How many of them are really in internet business ?

The transfer list is one way too look, why IPv4 vanish ! and who make profit..
its so easy..

For sure i dont do any profit.. because i stole a /22 for my company !

And i dont have enough money to pay the sellers 2-3 times more..

Maybe i am a newcomer and i dont know too much.. i apologies for this !

Re: [address-policy-wg] Transfer Requirements for IPv4 Allocations

2015-04-23 Thread Infinity Telecom SRL
Hello Gert,

at the transfer services i saw sellers that want 17-20 USD per IP, this is
crazy, do you want forward ?

Do you think this is a normal ?

If right now they ask soo much even when they know someone like me can open a
new LIR an close after 1 year.

What will happen when someone like me will open a LIR and pay 2 yrs before to
move the IPs to the old LIR

I tell you what will happen, the sellers will put another 5-7 USD per IP, for
sure.

Most of the guys that are pro this proposal have large blocks for sell..

I dont have large blocks.. i want to keep my IPs and have more resource..

Thank you.

Thank you for reply.

You said people happily trade, what do you want to do ?

They have 3 choice:

1. Close their business..
2. Buy at outrageous price, from the smart guys, almost people happily
trade are very near to close their business.
3. Make another LIR and move resource to the old LIR.. get NEW IPs, never

[non] some questions about NON-timeline

2015-02-13 Thread plutek infinity

greetings!

i've just compiled the latest git of non-stuff and am looking forward
to exploring! i have just a few questions:

1. the help html opens in Geany, rather than a browser... is that a
system preference, or something coded in non?

2. crossfades between overlapping regions are entirely manual? and
there's no ability to make or adjust a fade-out entirely within the
portion of an earlier region which is overlapped by a later region,
right?

3. there's no ability to switch the waveform display to show
logarithmic waveforms?... it's difficult to deal with low-level signals,
it seems.

4. it is possible to drag the right edge of a region beyond the end of
the existing audio. then, i can't find a way to snap the region end back
to the original audio length. also, curiously, when the region is longer
than the existing audio, i see repeats of the waveform, but increasingly
squished horizontally with each repeat to the right. also, these repeats
show at some zoom levels, but not at others, and nothing plays beyond
the original audio. is this all intentional?

5. is there a way to change the zoom focus to something other than the
play cursor?

...i think that's it for now!

thanks for NON; there is boatloads of stuff in there to absolutely
love! :) i'm just struggling with a few things here and there

cheers!

Fluxa was really only intended as an experiment in a possible way of

[Fluxus] usefulness for audio?

2014-10-24 Thread plutek infinity

greetings!

for a number of years, i've been using puredata to code a live
performance rig which takes input from a clarinet, and analyzes and
transforms it various ways to yield a kind of extended instrument for
improvisational performance. lately, i've become disenchanted with
puredata, and want to use something more text-based as well as more
easily modifiable and expressive on-the-fly...

i've looked at ChucK, SuperCollider, and fluxus+fluxa.

in terms of the general aesthetic of the environment, and the feel of
working in each, i'd have to rate them this way:

1. fluxus+fluxa
2. ChucK
3. SuperCollider

i'm using a lot of MIDI input for control, and need a deep capability
for audio analysis and transformation -- this is fundamentally about
sound, with future possibilities for graphics as a distant possible
dream. also, i need to start with a significantly developed machine
ready to go, but with a live-coding approach available during
performance, for modifications.

so, i'm interested in thoughts any of you might have about the
possibility of fluxus+fluxa really being a viable environment for what
i'm doing; my sense is that it's a real stretch to think that it's truly
appropriate -- which is truly a shame, because it is just simply such a
beautiful and intuitive thing!  :(

on the other hand, i'm extremely comfortable already with the
text-file-editing paradigm implied in ChucK -- i already do way too
many things in emacs, and that environment is just second nature to me.
the C-based syntax, and lack of attention to visual aesthetic is just
simply not as appealing as the lisp-based beauty of fluxus.

SuperCollider is a complete wildcard, which i really know nothing
about, and just seems like a Big Black Box, although what i've read and
watched seems to indicate it would work.

so, if you would, please give me some collective wisdom about
appropriateness, functionality, reliability, etc., etc

thanks so much in advance... cheers!

it does a lot of things... :) filters/resonance, ringmod,

haproxy 1.4.xx - 1.5dev22

2014-04-12 Thread infinity
Hello.

I'm new to haproxy, and even to linux. However if you don't mind i would
like to know some things.

haproxy version 1.4.25

In this version when i setup haproxy example of settings:

listen mysvr *:30001
mode tcp
server svr1 123.123.123.123:30001 check

In my running program on port 30001, i don't see any checks and @
statistics page i see its online, if I close running program on statistics
page its immediately change status to DOWN.
ss: http://i.share.pho.to/fcbb9a67_o.png
Everything is ok here.

haproxy version 1.5dev22

In this version with same configuration settings:

listen mysvr *:30001
mode tcp
server svr1 123.123.123.123:30001 check

On my running program which is on port 30001, i see connection checks
every second.
ss: http://i.share.pho.to/0531397d_o.png
Yes, its possible to set inter with value for check, but then we get
statistics updated as example every 15min only or so.

My question is, can we set somehow quiet checks of port 30001 with
1.5dev22 as in 1.4 versions?

 Ahh, as you don't specify which image, that sounds like my
 ubuntu/debian image. (please confirm which image you used...)

 First make sure NO capes are installed. You can leave the ethernet
 plugged in but nothing else, not even the 'expansion' cape board..
 Make sure your using 5Volt DC power.

 I only have one board that shows the same issue, but it was a very
 very early pre-production one.. (The eMMC on that one had been
 re-written way to many times..)

2013-10-30 Thread infinity . silentmonk
Cool, no way near that!

Okay, so I think I have narrowed down what just happened here!

I fdisk'd and formatted, well thought I did, the sd card. But now I have
come to realize depending on if a sd card is inserted at boot or not,
changes the way mmcblk*'s are allocated. so my emmc actually got
re-partitioned. Yeah, I should have double checked things, but why is it
re-arranging like this and not just standardized to the emmc always
specifically being on a certain mmcblk?

So now, nothing will work. I get so far with ANY distro, be it emmc
flasher or an image made to run off of SD, bam, blinking led's. dmesg
reveals ifile errors. I am stuck in a read-only rootfs and I cannot do
anything to fix the emmc.

Hope some of this makes sense.

This is also affecting DateTime-modify() in PHP 5.3.21.

This appears to only affect DateTime objects with timezone_type of 1, and maybe
2.

Of course, it's impossible to directly query a DateTime object's timezone_type,
so you have to get the string representation from print_r and inspect that in
order to code around this bug.

Unbelievable.

[2012-06-15 09:02:31] sala...@php.net

This looks like a side-effect of the changes made against bug #55253.

[2012-06-15 08:48:06] ruesche at fka dot de

typo fixed.

[2012-06-15 08:46:43] ruesche at fka dot de

Description:

When you use a timezone with daylight saving time (like Europe/Berlin) and the
date of the system running the PHP script is in this daylight saving time (like
2012-06-15), DateTime::add() will produce results that are off by 1 hour.

When the date on the local machine is not in the daylight saving time, the same
computation will yield the expceted results.

This bug also only appears, when the DateTime instance was created using a
timestamp, so a workaround would be the following: Instead of

  $date = new DateTime(gmmktime(0, 0, 0, 1, 1, 2012));

use

  $date = new DateTime('2012-01-01');

The script was tested with the following systems, all having the same problem:
- Windows XP, PHP 5.3.10
- Windows XP, PHP 5.3.13
- Windows 7, PHP 5.3.10
- Arch Linux (x86_64), PHP 5.4.3
- Debian Squeeze, PHP 5.3.10

Test script:
---
?php
$oneMonth = new DateInterval('P1M');

$date = new DateTime('@'.gmmktime(0, 0, 0, 1, 1, 2012));
echo $date-format('Y-m-d H:i:s').\n;

$date-add($oneMonth);
echo $date-format('Y-m-d H:i:s').\n;

Expected result:

2012-01-01 00:00:00
2012-02-01 00:00:00

Actual result:

dari yang pernah saya alami, hal ini disebabkan adanya PC / laptop, dll yang
mempunyai IP dynamic (IP address otomatic), kalau akibat virus mungkin iya,

2013-04-14 Thread Thomas Parrott - Infinity Tracking
I can help as will need to maintain mine anyway. Since the daemon feature has
been removed its harder to run beanstalk on centos as have to run with char
at end to background it. I've found 1.8 just crashes after q while so we are
still running 1.4 but will hopefully upgrade to 1.9 if stable.

Does anyone still want to use that RPM spec file?
Would you volunteer to maintain it? Otherwise I'll
have to remove it entirely; I don't have the ability
to keep it up to date.

You should base your work on the master branch rather than the v1.9 commit.

 Looks like its going to be fine, but will also add an init script that the
 spec will install.

 Where shall I put the init file?

Packaging-related files go in pkg.

Re: [gridengine users] X11 not working after qlogin

2013-03-19 Thread Infinity
Thanks for the pointer. I tried the following command, the error is better
in the sense that at least the DISPLAY variable is set this time

sungrid-dev % qrsh -q galaxy_intr.q xclock
Error: Can't open display: localhost:16.0

localhost:16.0 is the DISPLAY variable on the sungrid-dev machine. I think
my main doubt is, what should be the DISPLAY variable on the final compute
cluster machine? This is what I don't really understand.

The Xming server on my windows machine is running on localhost:0. So why is
the DISPLAY variable on the sungrid-dev machine localhost:16.0? Shouldn't
it be windows_ip:0?

 Qlogin is grid engine's telnet equivalent. Telnet doesn't normally
 forward X or environment variables so neither does qlogin.
 You may be able to set DISPLAY by hand after logging in with qlogin.
 Qrsh is closer to rsh/ssh and can pass environment variables (check
 out the -display and -V and -v options
 in the man page) so you could use that instead.
 Qsh is a command that specifically launches an xterm on the cluster so
 if it works you should definitely have working X forwarding.
 Having said that grid engine can bet set up in a lot of ways(we
 disable qsh for instance) you could try asking the local
 admin/consulting the local documentation
 on how to launch X jobs on the cluster.

[Freesurfer] SPM VBM and Freesurfer group analysis

2012-10-31 Thread Infinity
Hi,

I did a SPM VBM (using dartel) analysis as well as a freesurfer group
analysis. After correcting for multiple comparisons. Both maps give me
pretty different results. From the literature review both sets of results
make sense but the fact that the results don't agree is troubling me. I
have checked everything multiple times and still get the same results.

Is it common that the two methods give different results?

I also wanted to know the interpretation of the surface measures that
freesurfer reports, especially the curv and sulc measures. What does it
mean exactly when two groups have different sulc or curv measures? In my
results I get a negative correlation between curv measure and volume
measure in the same region. So in that region for curv measure group1
group 2 while in the same region for the volume measure group1 group2.
How exactly is the curv measure related to volume and area measures? Is
there a standard reference where all the details for these measures are
mentioned?

Thank you.

securities:

spread = Close / Foreign( MSFT, Close);

Plot( spread, spread, colorBlack )

However, when I plot RSI in the lower pane... the indicator fails to respond to
the spread movement. RSI is a sensitive indicator and generally moves up or
down with price. But this doesnt seem to be happening and many a times while
spread is moving up, RSI tends to move lower and vice versa.

I have attached a chart and pointed a few discrepancies.

Please suggest what needs to be done. I intend to use indicators apart from RSI
for a spread between 2 different securities / index.

How to call a restlet using riap protocol from a non-restlet

2010-08-13 Thread infinity
I'm fairly familiar with Restlet 2.0 having worked with prior 2-M versions.
We have a working Restlet based project A with several server Resources
deployed in an osgi container. Another project B is its client. Due to the
nature of the project B, there are close to 200,000 rest calls made
sequentially. Each http call on an avg takes 200-300 ms per request. From a
performance standpoint, using the project A as a REST API is useless from
Project B.

However, the processing time of each call internally (within project A) is
10ms.

Bottomline -- http calls are expensive.

Since we own both the projects, I was wondering how to run the Project A in
process with Project B so that I can use riap:// instead of http:// and
hopefully, the performance should be as close to 10 ms.

Earlier,I've used riap:// but the client was a Restlet Server Resource. In
this case, Project B is only a client Resource.

How do I make project A's server resources accept riap:// from any client
(within the same process)?

individual oscillator characteristics.
Lets say, I want to know the size / time of moves which occurred below 50 level
on RSI?So in real life say a stock breaks the 50 level on RSI, then I would
like to know what percentage / point move occurred till it recovered above the
50 level and vice versa.Then I would like to work out an average of that.
Is this possible?RgdsInfinity

 Hi,

 If you want the colors to apply to the price instead of the background,

 then you have to use them in the Plot for the price. Bars can be made

 thick simply by including styleThick.

 Highs = EMA(High, 5);

 Lows = EMA(Low, 5);

 UpTrend = C  Highs;

 DnTrend = C  Lows ;

 Colors = IIf(UpTrend, colorGreen, IIf(DnTrend, colorRed, colorBlack)) ;

 Plot(Close, Price, Colors, styleBar | styleThick);

 Plot(Highs, Highs, colorBlue, styleLine);

 Plot(Lows, Lows, colorYellow, styleLine);Â

2010-06-09 Thread Infinity Home Loans
Hi Mike,
Just need a slight change in the formula you have provided below for afl coding
as per bullish / bearish zone.
I use 5 period EMA's of Highs and Lows to understand the momentum of the
market. For trends I actually rely on RSI and avoid getting caught in MA
crossovers. 5 period EMA of High / Lows are actually used by me to enter / exit
positions.
Please help me with an afl as per conditions mentioned below:
1. If price closes above 5 period EMA of High, then the bar color should be
green.2. If price closes below 5 period EMA of Lows, then the bar color should
be red.3. If price close is between both these EMA's, then the bar color should
be black.

  Upgrade to the latest version, otherwise remove the last 2 arguments.
But, if you are not using the latest, then you may find that the background

Re: [amibroker] Request Is there any afl greencolor for bullish zone and red for bearish

2010-06-06 Thread Infinity Home Loans
Hi,
I need help on a similar kind of afl. Though it is not a trend indicator, but
it gives me valuable feedback on the price momentum.
What I do is, plot 5 period EMA of Highs and lows and then look for crossovers
in various time frames.
So, I need an afl which could do color coding as per rules mentioned below:
1. When price closes above the 5 period EMA of Highs, the bar becomes GREEN.2.
When price closes below the 5 period EMA of Lows, the bar becomes RED.3. When
price is between both these EMA's, then the bar becomes BLACK.
Looks simple, but I got too confused in using the language to create such an
afl.
Please help.

  Dear Ara,
Thanks for fast response and guidance as well.
very much appreciate your help.

Mike was kind enough to send me full afl code. It looks dependable.

You have proactively pushed me a bit forward giving me the option to choose my
own trend definition for up or down. honestly this is the difficult part.

Now I have choosen three indicators for my trend definition
RSI,MACD, AND ADX

trendup=RSI( 14)50 OR trenddown =RSI(14)50

trendup =MACD() SIGNAL()  or trenddown = MACD() SIGNAL()

TRENDUP = PDI(14) MDI(14) AND ADX(14) 20;
TRENDDOWN =MDI(14)  PDI(14) AND ADX(14) 20
now comes the biggest problem
If one can run a back test over 1 year of daily data,with each of these
indicatos for trend definition, which indicator can give mmax net profit with
minimum drawdown and best profit factor,max winner/looser ratio

I would like to pick that indicator or combo of indicators (like macd and adx
or rsi and adx etc) that gives me max possible net profit with minimum possible
drawdown,with preferably higher winners than loosers

Is it possible to give some kind of proof in this direction.please

I tried to run backtest but it is backfiring on me

Any guidance on how can i beat this confusion is great help

1. Define trendup and trenddown
trendup = your definition
trendown = your definition
2. Plot your price chart
3. Add the 2 lines below.

ChartColor = iif(trendup, colorgreen, iif(trenddown, colorred, null));
Plot(1,,chartcolo r,stylearea| styleownscale, 0,1);

 Hi experts

 I remember having seen an afl
 the chartspace is showing green color while
 price is uptrend and the chart
 area gets red color if price becomes downtrend, and area gets ash or grey
 color if price bars have no trend

 I am talking of chart area from top to bottom

 thanks for help

[Haskell-cafe] Wait forever in main thread

2010-05-17 Thread DPX-Infinity
Hi,
I'm writing a program which listens to some D-Bus signals using
DBus.Client.onSignal function from dbus-client package. This function
runs IO action in separate haskell thread when signal is received. My
program does nothing except signal handling, so after setting up
signals it has to wait indefinitely. Now I'm using not very clean (I
think so) forever $ threadDelay 1000 . Is there another (I mean,
correct) method to do this thing?

 nice to see the sheets all laid out in tabs!

Iirc, it has been like that for a short while, but the tabs consumed a good
deal of space. Tried again today, and it looks nice indeed, doesn't consume
much space, and it improves usability a lot I think.

agreed!

 and, in some very quick testing, the mouse cursor *seems* much more
  reliable about picking up its context properly. (re. bug 19958?) did you
  do some stuff which would have addressed that?

Ah, good point. Yes, the input engine sometimes got into a bad state when
using the modifier key ALT, this modifier key is both supported by traverso
but also by Qt to open menus etc. When Qt took over 'ownership' of ALT in
certain cases, the inputengine state got stuck, resulting in no longer
keyboard response...

and the mouse cursor label didn't always change appropriately, but seems to do
so now.

Will close that bug :)

cool.

 what's the status of the numerical input? the log says revived numerical
  input support, but the things we played with while in IRC don't seem to
  work now ([G] and [D]).

[ G ] + numerical input is supposed to work still, except it's not un/redoable
iirc.

yes, it totally works *IF* i remember to numlock first. oy... silly plutek!
and it *does* undo fine over here.

  does revived have some exotic meaning here, or
  is the functionality changed in some non-obvious way?

yes, the revived part was this:

type in some number (the number is now displayed in they system info widget,
bottom of the screen)
hit  S

And the Sheet with that number will be shown.

The Tab-Widget solution in fact makes this nifty feature useless, but maybe
some other use can be thought of

right, 'cuz we have alt-number for sheets... anyways, it does work.

thanks again, remon... nice work!

cheers!

 1. track and subgroup gain automation (this is the biggie, for me)...

'works' now in git, that is, compile and runtime tested, but there could be a
hidden bug somewhere. Except it's not shown to you in 'effects mode' for now.
this is due how plugins and their automation curves are shown. We need to
make
it possible to just make one 'plugin curve' active at a time, and make that
one 'topmost' so you can edit it.
Suggestions on how to expose this to the user are much welcomed!

although you may be looking for a more general paradigm here's an initial
idea:

for gain, which already has [G] in both clip and track contexts, could we just
use a modifier with the [G] for automation curves in those contexts. i see
that ctrl-[G] and alt-[G] don't seem to be occupied. maybe ctrl-[G] could
activate the gain curve for clips and alt-[G] for tracks. that could be for a
specific clip or track -- you could switch individual clips or tracks in/out
of gain automation mode that way. F2 could still be a global gain curve mode
for all clips, and F3 (which is unused, right?) could send all *tracks* into
gain curve mode.

of course, i meant to say...

ctrl-G and alt-G

...but you figured that out, i'm sure!

probably some unclaimed baggage in there, eh but, hey, maybe it's a
start?!?

 2. automatic clip crossfades

 building every crossfade by individually setting both the fade out and the
  fade in is quite tedious. there should be an option for automatic
  crossfades whenever clips are overlapped, or some other method for
  building crossfades more quickly.

Maybe, just maybe, a 'create crossfade' command would be the easiest trick to
do.

that would be a reasonable short-term goal.

  long explanation snipped

thanks for the explanation! unfortunately, my coding skills are far too basic
to dive into that right now!

 3. lv2 plugin GUI implementation

 there are some plugins which really require the visual feedback of their

greetings!

well, i'll be filing a bug report about this one:

apparently, copy = move

when setting up a new project in traverso, if i choose to import some audio
files and click the button labelled Copy files to project directory, the
files are *moved* instead of *copied*.

sorry about that... it *looked* like that's what was happening, as i followed
the process in one filemanager. in fact, the original files are still intact.

there were other problems, however:

out of 179 files, only the first 39 imported successfully. the remainder are at
severely reduced level (sndfile-info shows level between -40 and -60, for files
which were actually in a healthy -6 range), and one, which started ok, went to
a looping small segment of the file after the first 1-1/2 minutes.

wierd... anyone else seeing issues with the new project file importer?

cheers!

Excerpts from plutek-infinity's message of 2010-03-03 16:44:45 +0100:

 when setting up a new project in traverso, if i choose to import some audio
 files and click the button labelled Copy files to project directory, the
 files are *moved* instead of *copied*.

 i would say this is really not a good thing, for two reasons:

 1. the button says copy.
 2. often we are sourcing material from a common repository of files, which
 may be used for other purposes.

 to see the files all disappear from their source was quite disconcerting!

 cheers!

Can you provide the version? For me it was broken in the latest release
and/or some git version in some other manner (segfault) but the files
stayed where they were. This bug is fixed in git and I know that I
imported the same file into ardour from their original directory after
playing with traverso and they are still there.
I can't confirm that behavior.

i'm using yesterday's git.
do see my other response -- move was not actually happening, although i think
there may still be import problems.

cheers!

Re: [Traverso-devel] curious about trackstart units

2010-03-02 Thread plutek-infinity
Date: Tue, 02 Mar 2010 17:05:54 -0500
From: plutek-infinity plu...@infinity.net

i'm just looking into ways to import a bunch of timestamped files into
traverso, and noticed a few things:

1. the clip properties dialog only goes to three decimal places for the
trackstart time
2. the project file uses samples X 640 for the trackstart time
3. if i set a trackstart time in the dialog, with three zeroes in the decimal
places (i.e. it should be even seconds), the trackstart time in the project
file is not necessarily an exact multiple of samplerate X 640

so, some questions:

with some of my own answers...

1. should we have more precision available in the clip dialog, so we can set
clip times as accurately as they are represented in the project file -- or at
least with samplerate accuracy?
2. what is the significance of samplerate X 640?

ahah... of course... it's the smallest common multiple of the common
samplerates up to 192k -- so we can position things, with one positioning
system, all the way up to 192k. that makes sense.

3. how are project file trackstart numbers and what we see in traverso
actually related -- i.e. how is the increased precision in the project file
dealt with, and what accounts for the (apparent) slight discrepencies between
what i'm seeing in traverso and in the project file?

when sliding things around at extreme zoom, i have movement between jumps in
the position indicator of the floating clip info box. so, the project remembers
positions with an accuracy of 28224000 positions per second, but the displays
in the GUI are limited to ss.xxx --- ok, but i'd still say we should be able to
position, within the GUI, at least to the samplerate of the current project.

also, i've just noticed that ALL markers positions are displayed in the marker
list box to an accuracy of only 75 f/s. this makes sense for CD track markers,
but i'd say other markers should have the possibility of samplerate-accurate
positioning.

cheers!

Nicola made this nice mockup of how we can/should handle Master Out, SubGroups
and 'connecting' them together.
(Nicola: I hope you don't mind sharing your wonderful artwork?)

Comments and/or suggestions are of course welcome!

hi remon and nicola... thanks for that summary!

one thing that jumps out at me is this statement, on page 8: In theory the
MasterOut bus is nothing but a subgroup where all signals pass through before
going to the hardware.

does this imply that you are not allowing connection to external processes,
except from MasterOut? there are lots of scenarios in which one might want to
send signals from subs or tracks to other hardware besides the main monitors,
or to other software for processing. then, of course, we should also be able to
connect arbitrary input points to output from other software as well, so that
we can form processing loops which are external to traverso.

i guess, in terms of external DSP, i'm getting into things which are usually
handled by inserts and sends, which may be beyond what you're currently
implementing. however, for live monitoring, the ability to send Sub or Track
outputs to arbitrary hardware could be quite useful.

cheers!

[issue1639] Videos modified with Quicktime do not show correct duration

2009-12-22 Thread Infinity

New submission from Infinity s...@gmx.us:

A video modified with Quicktime will show incorrect
duration number

FFmpeg version SVN-r20337

conversion also seems problematic with such video files.
issues range from audio sync to improper video duration
and frozen still frames unexpectedly.

perhaps quicktime does not re-convert the video to a
properly moveable file, perhaps quicktime re-creates headers
or re-write additional meta-data to the video file
and ffmpeg simply reads it incorrectly.

[twitter-dev] iPhone image uploading

2009-12-17 Thread Infinity 320
Hello guys!

I have found on the twitter-site this faq:

 The image update methods require multipart form data. They do not accept a
 URL to an image not do they accept the raw image bytes. They instead require
 the data to be delivered in the form of a file upload filed as defined in
 RFC1867. The content-type attribute of the image field is checked for valid
 image type. If you are using PHP/CURL there is a known bug that has since
 been fixed in the CVS version of PHP. Most installations are not yet using
 this version and therefore fail during image upload.

I wrote a little code to upload a profile image to my twitter, but
somethings wrong.
Here's my code:

- (void)uploadProfileImage {
UIImage *myImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@pic1.png];
NSData *myImageData = [[NSData alloc]
initWithData:UIImagePNGRepresentation(myImage)];
NSString *bodyString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@image=%@,
[[[NSString alloc] initWithData:myImageData
encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding] autorelease]];

NSString *apiUrl = @http://twitter.com/account/
update_profile_image.json;

NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:apiUrl];
NSMutableURLRequest *updateRequest = [NSMutableURLRequest
requestWithURL:url

cachePolicy:NSURLRequestReloadIgnoringCacheData

timeoutInterval:TWITTER_SEND_UPDATE_TIMEOUT];
[updateRequest setHTTPShouldHandleCookies:NO];
[updateRequest setHTTPMethod:@POST];
[updateRequest setValue:@application/x-www-form-urlencoded
forHTTPHeaderField:@Content-Type];
[updateRequest setHTTPBody:[bodyString
dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding allowLossyConversion:YES]];
[updateRequest setValue:[NSString stringWithFormat:@%d, [bodyString
length]] forHTTPHeaderField:@Content-Length];

NSLog(@Trying to connect...);
NSURLConnection *theConnection = [[NSURLConnection alloc]
initWithRequest:updateRequest delegate:self];

if (theConnection) {
//_receivedData = [[NSMutableData data] retain];
NSLog(@Connected!);
} else {
NSLog(@Not connected!);
// Inform the user that the download could not be made
}
}

And one more method needed:

- (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection
didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge:(NSURLAuthenticationChallenge *)
challenge {
if ([challenge previousFailureCount] == 0) {
NSURLCredential *newCredential = [NSURLCredential
credentialWithUser:@username password:@password
persistence:NSURLCredentialPersistenceNone];
[[challenge sender] useCredential:newCredential
forAuthenticationChallenge:challenge];
} else {
[[challenge sender] cancelAuthenticationChallenge:challenge];
NSLog(@Invalid username and password!);
}
}

And with this method I am receiving the information from twitter:

- (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:
(NSData *)data {
NSLog([[[NSString alloc] initWithData:data
encoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding] autorelease]);
}

But I am getting some strange error. The response isn't a json answer,
it is a html-like answer. Maybe do you have any idea why is that?

IMO, the low rating of org-mode on this list shows that most people
prefer flashy GUIs over extreme power, efficiency, and flexibility.
Then again, that seems to be the general state in today's computing
world.

yes... and, really, the word computing is entirely optional in your last
sentence. the poll points to a much more generalized preference for style and
ease-of-use over flexibility and engagement of the mind.

ugh.

Re: [Opensim-dev] Node.js, anyone?

2009-11-28 Thread Infinity Linden (Meadhbh Hamrick)
whoa. sorry for spamming the list with my modern art poetry. fwiw... i was
replying via my g1 (android phone.) apparently there are still some kinks to
work out of it's mail client.

so anyway, fwiw, i _have_ been working with node.js on Ubuntu. it's mostly
the bomb. i'm unashamed to admit my love of javascript and accept it with
all it's faults. (i.e. - typical things people say about dynamic languages.)
debugging any application in v8 (google's javascript implementation for
chrome that node.js was intended to run on top of) is.. um.. not especially
pleasurable.

however, i've been able to prototype a few very basic applications.

there have been a few hiccups:

a. the apps i'm writing want to consume application/llsd+xml or
application/llsd+json and produce application/llsd+xml mime types. not
text/html. i also want to use node.js to prototype some VWRAP over
LLIDL/LLSD over HTTP(S) services, and sorta want to get at all the headers
both coming and going. this is not impossible with node.js, but it was less
easy than i would have thought.

b. the client i'm working with doesn't like chunked encoding. or rather, it
has non-optimal blocking behavior when receiving chunked HTTP responses.
turning off chunked encoding with node.js was difficult. not because the
code was difficult, but because it was easier to sift through the code to
figure out how to do it than to read how to do it in the documentation.

c. no mysql.

d. no prevayler or neo4j equivalents. i'm a NoSQL kinda person, so this is
more of a big deal for me.

so... my take on node.js? it's a good start. it needs help in documentation.
server side javascript apps generally need better debugging tools. i would
like to see AOP support in v8, but that's a different thread. performance is
generally good, with hiccups. it would be wy more attractive to me if it
had a standard NoSQL solution, or even some sort of MySQL binding.

 gateway to handle
 daabase calls, a proxy to external web sites, and much more. It's a very

 doesn't block...
 (in other words.. many scripts in a sim could hit this all at once and it
 wont need
 a ton of threads waiting around for disk or network i/o, etc..)

 An example of a web server written with Node which responds with Hello

 var sys = require('sys'),
http = require('http');
 http.createServer(function (req, res) {
   setTimeout(function () {

Re: [Opensim-dev] Trust distributed grids

2009-11-24 Thread Infinity Linden (Meadhbh Hamrick)
heya.

just as a FYI, we're going to be working through the whole trust
management issue as part of VWRAP. there was some informal discussion
about using X.509 on the ogpx list running up to a general agreement
we should try to agree on the problem domain before pushing any one
particular technology.

so... based on informal discussions about trust management on a VWRAP
open grid seem to be tending towards OAuth and PKI. there is some
heartburn about including OpenID directly into the specifications, but
i understand that jhurliman is working on some OpenID tools to work
with cable beach. and tao (aka christian) is working with xmlgrrrl on
ProtectServ, which should be VERY interesting at some point.

so from a standards perspective, there's a lot of cool stuff on the
horizon and some more conventional stuff that'll probably get
specified a little sooner.

Re: [gentoo-user] Re: X bitmap fonts and UTF-8

So, nobody knows what can this be? I even tried to recompile dmenu
with Xutf8* functions instead of Xmb*, and this didn't help.

[gentoo-user] X bitmap fonts and UTF-8

2009-10-14 Thread DPX-Infinity
Hi.
I have some strange problem with X fonts (not freetype). I installed
xmonad, dzen2 and dmenu and configured the last two to use font
-xos4-terminus-medium-*-*-*-12-*-*-*-*-*-iso10646-1 (but I have this
problem in other fonts too) because I need the unicode for correct
display of russian letters (i have ru_RU.UTF-8 locale, so koi8-r is
not my option). But russian text looks very strange. The text from
xmonad (for example, window captions) contains one symbol per one
russian letter, but it is not correct - something like 0?8A0BL ?8AL
. In the text in dmenu (or in dzen2 when I pipe output from echo to it
on the console) the letters are not displayed as hieroglyphs or
strange symbols; each letter consists of an ' (apostrophe sign) and
one symbol from ASCII table from Q up to q (33 chars totally). I have
found no correspondence between UTF-8 bytes and these pairs (but the
first byte in russian letters is also the same). The same
configuration of xmonad and dzen2 on my other machine (ubuntu) works
perfectly, and the text in xterm and emacs also looks very well. What
can this be?
Sorry for my bad language if it is such :)

Re: [gentoo-user] Re: X bitmap fonts and UTF-8

Yes, of course. There are unicode and utf8 in make.conf and

 Do you have the 'unicode' USE flag set?  I think it may be on by default,
 but I'm not sure.

 But I think USE-flags aren't connected with this strange behaviour. I
 already said, that russian letters are not displayed in every font,
 including misc-fixed, for example. I also tried original (from
 official site) fonts, but the result was the same. Definitely fonts
 are not the reason.

 I've attached a screencap of what I see using misc-fixed.  Do you see
 something different?

 I think you're mistaken. Did you look at the updated configuration

 This is a mailing list. If you want your changes to be seen by

 For a prototype bean,
 bean name=/contact/{operation}

 with a router prepending a /ws, I would expect
 http://servername:port/appname/ws/contact/{operation}

 But it doesn't work. I get the following warning in the log, if that
 helps.

 Are you using 2.0-M5? This was a bug in 2.0-M4, but it should be
