information in GeoServer, or by removing the dependency completely (so it
always gets the version defined and tested by GeoTools).

No special reason, I think IDEs are happy enough downloading source (and
generating javadoc tooltios as required).
I you would find it useful it would be fine to update the release scripts
(which are in versions control).

Aside: To be effective my own volunteer time is focused on work that
enables others: making releases, and assisting with pull-requests, and in

I have not used mbtiles recently, but I often use geoserver to create
vector tiles for layer groups (that is kind of the point for vector tiles).
Could you try reproducing the problem with the sample data directory, and
submit a bug report that can be reproduced.

I find that each different version of the WCS specification is a bit
different. What you describe is normal for an odd standard.
Try the WCS 2 also?
The first versions of the spec returned that document, and the document had
a link to the image output.
