Hosa makes a great dual XLR to eighth inch mini stereo plug cable about
ten feet long which works great with a pair of AKG C1000 condensers and a
Plextalk 2. I am sure it would work well with the Olympus as well if it has
an external mic input.

A better full range mic is my pair of AT4041 but for on location recording
I will stick with my C1000 large diaphrams because they offer optional
battery portability.

To be honest I've not seen this documented well anywhere.
The manual may reference this in a diagram perhaps but no verbal description
exists.
I stumbled across this whilst playing about with the recorder when trying to
set the time.

Okay.
During clock set use the F3 key to toggle between 12 and 24 hour clock mode.
The recorder won’t announce which mode its in but you’ll know by using the
up/down keys to move between the hours, if you’re in 24-hour mode you’ll hear
values lead out larger than 12 obviously.

Hi Dane and all,
On my ls-p4 which arrived yesterday I'm at a loss as to where the 12 versus
24 hour setting can be found I've looked everywhere and am not hearing it
spoken. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Take good care.

Only my 2 cents worth.
A good general purpose recorder it seems though for the money I think I’d
rather purchase an Olympus LS-P4 which seems to sell for around the same amount
of money.
For those who have not seen an Olympus LS-P4 the buttons are very well laid out

In these situations I always hope I’m wrong, so are you going to have the P1
swapped for a P4 or think about something entirely different.

Smart mode isn’t everything.
The LS-P4 has a solution, you can normalise the recording.
If you’re not sure where to set the level for your recording then set the level
to a fairly low value.
Start your recording and - if necessary - apply the normalise function to the
recording when finished.
As
Yeah that's kinda too bad the eltrinex doesn't have that stuff. But

disk quality audio. I red something about recording in stereo so it

Not to meantion 14 has smart mode. Which isn't perfect, but when it

I agree, I love most of there recorders, and I stil enjoy the dm7 as
well. The only thing I don't like about ls14, is that the mikes is not
as crisp as the ls100 or zoom stuff, but yes its very quiet. Its also
the only recorder that have the ability to split files while recording
in real time. And
Well, this eltrinex don't have xlr and such for hamit, so I guess its
sort of comparible with pocket or higher. Since it don't seem to have
stereo microphones I cannot recall.

Yes your correct Dane and I am returning the ls-p1.
There doesn't seem to be voice guidance.
Really unfortunate because it would have met my needs if it did.
Oh well at least I can get my money back.
Off to check out the eltrinex.

For the person who just mentioned this recorder. True it doesn't go up
all the way to 96 KHZ or better yet 192. But it does 48 KHZ 24 Bits.
Your typical 7.1 Blu-Ray disk like Jurasic Park the 2014 Godzilla and
anything else are 48 KHZ. So yes it does do HD audio. How did you hear
of this?

Yes you can set the format bit rate and sampling rate.
Incredibly easy to set up out of the box, insert the battery, turn the machine
on and follow the prompts.

It won't like a plextalk does. Remember it's still just the british lady
from way back with the DS recorders that's just saying some menu things.

I'm sure infact they all do tell you when you set the recording format
or you can go back into the menus an see what you set it to.

Yeah the P2 and P4 mikes have more hi frequencie. However, the 14 has
more of a studio vibe to it. Meh maybe not as studio as I'd like, but
way more studio sounding then the P recorders. The P ones sound a bit
like the DM's.

Does anybody here have any experience with the Eltrinex digital recorder? I
don't believe it can record at the higher sampling rates that some here want,
but people who have used it seem to be happy with it and it seems to have

Ok, thanks for shairing, that make sense.
It sounds like the p4 mikes is more clearer and crisper than the ls14.
What do you observ?

No it can’t read the memory and systemin information.
Yes if Olympus put their mind to it then this function could be incorporated
into later firmware and perhaps it will be but not now.
There’s one problem with the reading of the time and date setting that Olympus
should address, in 12-hour mode
So dain tell me, we no it now speak date and time when set, but does
it perhaps now read the memory and system info or they stil quiet?

Intresting as mine never had any issues. But yes the p4 sounds nicer

player. I will get the zoom h1n for now and then consider lsp4.

Of corse olympus continued the work after the dm4, they done the dm7

setting on wich allow file names to be spoken, but with dm7 there is
no such thing, it just works. It read everything even the password for
