Yes, it has been fixed after rc7. You could get the current CVS version,
or apply the following patch:

Hi, I have been trying to get my Audigy2 card to work with Debian woody. I
have gotten to a point where the driver seems to load correctly and the
mixers (alsamixer, kmixer, amixer) all seem to agree with each other, that is
when one is changed the others reflect the change. Also when I use XM

I wonder if this

driver is any better.
It has module parameters for defining the separate
ports, I have been trying to get it running but now am working
This is a know problem, you have two choices, go to the cvs version
(personally I was unable to compile) or backstep to the rc6 version. The
last one I can garantee perform well (via8233a)

Carlos,
This is apparently a bug in Alsa before the end of January. (rc7) You
have to update Alsa to fix it, or so I'm told. I tried the 'Use Windows
firmware' suggestion but didn't get any change in this problem.
Good luck,
Mark

I'd like to know if there is a kernel level software mixer for ALSA. I'm
thinking of something like the SoftOSS imux driver that created virtual DSP
devices that all fed a single sound card. Is there such a thing? Thanks.

What is so essential about a firewire drive? Is it that much faster than a
4200 rpm drive? And what about the 5400 rpm 2.5" drives? I guess a 60 GB 5400
2.5" is cheaper tha
Hi,
i have a Debian unstable, i upgraded to Alsa 0.9 rc7 and somehow my
configuration got messed up. I can start Alsa, but when using KDE, XMMS
or any other sound prog just the first half second of the sound is
played and repeated every time, the XMMS equalizer does just move

I've set up a Midiman Midisport 2x2 over the weekend
and I seem to have gotten it mostly working.
It's on a compaq laptop with an ess maestro.
I'm a bit puzzled by this though --
all four ports show up as 'inputs'.
Does anyone know if this is to be expected?

Yep, that's what I thought, too, but alsamixer doesn't start, it
doesn't find any controls. But nevermind: I didn't

You can use 'alsamixer' in the console, and press 'M' to unmute boxes. Uses
up/down cursor keys to adjust volume accordingly.

Hallo,
I have a Edirol UA-20 USB audio device. I currently (have to) use
alsa-rc6, configured according to:
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php3?
company=Edirol&card=UA-20&chip=&module=usb-audio
/proc/asound/cards shows it, I can play with alsaplayer and such, but
I cannot

Yes, I ran this after installing the drivers. I also ran it again just
now to be certain, and it doesn't eliminate the problem.

Hi,
I've changed the boot-behavior of VX-pocket drivers on the CVS.
In the new version, the firmwares are not in the driver source but in
the external directory to be transferred by an external program.
If you update the cvs version, please do the following:
- build vxloader utility in alsa-tool

Hi John
Don't be completely disheartened yet.. A laptop (with a firewire media
drive as essential) is a very tempting option...
I would still wait from people using Linux and USB audio devices before
making a final decision. Especially as the linux kernel has an option
for enforcing USB bandwidt

I recently got a computer with the VIA P4M266 925LR motherboard.
It has via82xx AC 97 on board.
