I am using a 'dmix' plug in along-with gstreamer/alsasink. The audio codec chip
does not have a mixer, it's just has a DAC.
When Playing back some video files, after 1 or 2 media files the playback
becomes too slow and gets slower towards the end of the file. What I doubt is

Gotcha, so there may well be OSS apps (read; not drivers) out there with
which one can implement many of these feature's anyway?
I would have thought many people in trying to get hw drivers working,
would also share an interest in this side of things too, hence my line
of questioning.

After updating alsa drivers and other packages from 1.0.17 to 1.0.19, I
finally got the SPDIF output working. Unfortunatly, the SPDIF INPUT is
not working. There is simply no sound at all (not even a little noise).
