Re: [altusmetrum] [AD] Altus Metrum announces AltosUI for iOS
I think $20 is fair for the iOS app. I write software for the App Store and I know it takes a lot of engineering work to get something out there. Even at $20, they’ll likely never recoup their actual cost for making it. That said, this has me wondering if I can add a BT module to my TeleDongle so that I don’t have to buy another rx. Also, I wonder if I could connect my iPhone to my Mac laptop to get the TeleDongle’s stream. Hmmm. -Bryan > On Apr 4, 2018, at 10:11 AM, Chris Attebery > wrote: > > Easy enough. The second is that if you know the serial number, the first TeleBT v4 unit was sn 3686. Any TeleBT with lower serial numbers won't work with iOS. Is there an easy way to tell which version our BT module is? It wasn't until we changed BT modules to a new one that also supports Bluetooth "LE" (which uses an entirely different protocol!) that it opened up the opportunity for someone to write an iOS app that could work. Unfortunately, there are both legal and technical reasons that our code just can't be used on devices based on Apple's iOS. Those of you that have hung out with us at launches when this topic came up know just how frustrating this has been to Keith and me since we first started Altus Metrum. We are immensely fortunate that our friends at Iron Sheep, an iOS applications development shop, got excited enough about the new Bluetooth LE support in TeleBT version 4 that they've written a new application for iOS that works with Altus Metrum products completely from scratch! We're really pleased that there's iOS support for our products now, and that you have the choice of using your iPhone or iPad if you want... even if the independently developed app is something you have to pay a modest fee for. Our understanding is that it's a one-time, once per family, fee for the app. That seems completely reasonable to us given the large number of hours we know went into developing the app and getting it approved for inclusion in the Apple app store! > Does it work with TeleGPS? Yep! Works fine. And, in fact, we've been talking with Iron Sheep about how to better support TeleGPS in both the new iOS app and AltosDroid in the future. Looks cool by why the price? Wasn't Altos for Android free? Does it work with TeleGPS? -Original Message- From: altusmetrum On Behalf Of Keith Packard Sent: Wednesday, April 4, 2018 1:43 AM To: Altus Metrum Subject: [altusmetrum] [AD] Altus Metrum announces AltosUI for iOS Altus Metrum announces AltosUI for iOS Our friends at Iron Sheep Productions, LLC have created the AltosUI iOS application to bring Altus Metrum application support to Apple iPhone and iPad devices. Available now in the Apple App Store, AltosUI for iOS monitors your rocket flight through a TeleBT v4 ground station, reporting status on the screen and through voice synthesis. Once your rocket is on the ground, you can use AltosUI for iOS to walk to your rocket with live maps. More details about AltosUI for iOS are available here: http://altosui.ironsheep.biz/ With the introduction of this new iOS application, Altus Metrum products are the first rocketry products to include full support for ground stations running the customer's choice of Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, or iOS. ___ altusmetrum mailing list altusmetrum@lists.gag.com http://lists.gag.com/mailman/listinfo/altusmetrum ___ altusmetrum mailing list altusmetrum@lists.gag.com http://lists.gag.com/mailman/listinfo/altusmetrum
