Thanks to Brian and Chris for your answers on this topic. As I found out, there is no mechanism to make Amanda stop at a particular time. That's ok, though. I wasn't too thrilled about the idea of stopping my backup. It's likely that the day I do something like that, I need that backup. :-)

Hi Chris, Thanks for your reply. I think you've actually hit the problem on the head. Yesterday I started updating the tar program on my clients and backups started happening. The negative number disappeared. Apparently the older tar would not go high enough. Thanks for your reply! Jeff

dump and xfsdump

System Debian 2.4.14 kernel Amanda 2.4.2p2-3 I've got a setup using an xfs filesystem and have xfsdump for that filesystem. Does anyone know how to tell amanda to use xfsdump for that filesystem? It keeps trying to use the standard dump program and that fails. I've used xfsdump on SGI
