I have modified a Bluetooth solution from an android chat example, in order
to create multiple Bluetooth connection (ad hoc). My code works, it listen
for new connection and try to connect to other bluetooth devices (common

You can use AlarmManager to execute tasks periodically with PendingIntent,
but its depend if application is running and the AlarmManager is started.
Using GCM or FCM the work is at the server but the push notifications
depends of the device internet connection.
I think it depends of your needs.
I'm not sure but, do you checked the styles and colors? probably the
Textview is redered but is not visible for its color.

I solved the problem in windows XP changing the numbers, times and
dates format from spanish to english (US).
In Linux i had to delete my spanish locales (with dpgk-reconfigure
locales in Debian Lenny) and changed the LANG variable
(LANG=en_GB.UTF-8).
