In the above alsa_arecord is a soft link to alsa_aplay and -Dhw:0,0 or
-Dhw:0,1 depends on ur sound card. its the capturing device. If this works
fine...then something has gone wrong in android when passing audio
parameters to kernel.

What is your actual requirement, you have said u want a VU meter but in what
case scenario you want that meter.
In SoundRecorder the VU meter needle moves depending on the audio input.
You may get the .apk from internet.

define your own theme and add that theme to the activity in
manifest.xml that you want to change.
create a new xml file in res/values,
and in the androidmanifest.xml file add your that theme to your
activity.
you can use this as an example

not be as optimized as the PV codecs but I suspect the bottleneck is

Dear All,
I am trying to develop an application, which will originate a Phone
call to a given number and end the same after some particular
duration.
I could originate the phone call with below code, but not able to
